Man, your ending message was spot on! I too have a tough time with the written word, for each sentence I go over it and over it and over it and it’s painful to get each sentence the way I want it to be . Maybe I should start prepping and thinking before I put my pencil to paper. Which can also work towards prepping the night before or the morning of each day to get the most out of it before getting sidetracked in each moment. preparation.👍

I do the same thing bryan said about saying another hirsemans name when your teaching someone else what you little you can offer them. I do it because I didn't invent this stuff. I didn't think it up myself. I learned it from studying and riding with great horsemen so I credit them. Now I never say I'm doing any one horsemans method because all the things I've learned are kind of becoming my own style over time. Because we are all so different. But I can't take all the credit for it. Now there things I've come to realize and figure out on my own along my journey and I'll say so. But most of it wasn't something I invented or thought up. I believe in crediting the great horsemen I learned from for the things I learned from them.

I agree with Byron's view on the hero worship thing. I've never been one to hero worship. Liek I'm interested in what a successful person has done and what they know that y could learn to maybe improve myself and my likelihoogeof becoming the horseman id like to be one day but I don't think they are gods or anything I wonder well what can I learn from them. Would I have liked to meet tom and bill dorrance and Ray hunt. Definitely. But not cause I worship them but cause I'd have liked to have picked their brains and have conversations with them and learn something useful from them.

I like buck brannaman quite a bit. But i love bryan neubert. I got to know him because he would come do a horsemanship clinic at the college I went to once a year woth us and our colts we bred and started at that college and I spent 5.5 years at that college total. And so I got to ride with him several times and it was some of the best clinics I've been in. And it's funny he's talking about he spent more time with the hirses than he did with the books because while I did graduate it took me so long to get through school because I would drop academic classes that I needed to graduate to start more colts for the college. So finally on the 11th semester I decided I better finish those regular boring classes so I could move on from college. Lol.

You should interview 93 year old Australian living legend horseman John Stanton based at Macksville NSW. Fascinating doesn't even begin to describe what this man has done throughout his life with the horses, how he did it, who he met and the stories he has to tell.

Most riders do not understand collection. This is an excellent video to understand collection but I would add some graphics and clip out the unnecessary chatter. I would clip the out of sync part. Two hours could really be reduced to about 45 minutes. It may loose the "interview feel" but most will not have time or patience to listen to chit chat while they are interested in collection. But hey! Much better than nothing and certainly better than the bowling ball theory.

Comparing the trades to the horse business. Trades are a necessity. Majority of horses are funded by outside money and are used in a hobby/luxury setting. Horse deal is a lifestyle for some and passion for others. Interesting thing about the horse deal very few get to retire from it and live a comfortable lifestyle. Unlike the trades with a union retirement. You guys should start asking your guests, what's it cost a trainer per month to train horses? Care and custody insurance, workmans comp, health insurance, 401k, board, overhead, tools of the trade etc. I don't think $1200 a month per horse will cut it anymore...

It seems to me that most truly great horsemen are also great philosophers. The two things go together I think , and I can listen to Buck all day ,not just about horses but about life. ive been to several clinics here in Arizona , but never rode in one because i thought id be too nervous and self conscious and that id be better to absorb as much information as i could and then take it home and try it at home .

Alot of people who don't know anything about horses were able to judge a minute of footage without any context of the overall plan.

We need to hear more from ranchers like Scott and Andrea Van Leuven who ranch with their well expressed philosophy and experience. Cattle are not interchange parts like in a factory production business. I just turned eighty years old and modernity has moved at such a rapid pace that people sixty years younger are almost from another land or world, which in fact they may be. 😉

He said it even if a cowboy is experienced it takes time to learn how they do thing and the lay of the land sounds like they need to have more full time cowboys so they could help educate the flow of hands that come thru there

I built a few back in the day with a wood tree with fiberglass wrap and then have the whole thing sprayed smooth with Line X. First one we did Line X sprayed it like a bed liner, we had hell pulling the swell down. Lol

What a great interview. I have seen a few of your podcasts but this is my favorite so far. Buck talking about going and catching those wild horses is a close second.

I have watched Buck videos and he is amazing. He can get a horse to do anything. Another great horse man is Monty Robert’s . Both are accomplished horse men.

Congratulations Ben and Joe! Your podcast has grown and progressed and I have really enjoyed it. Here you discussed your approach to how you see your roles. A word of advice; the majority of podcasts are pseudo conversations. The hosts do not really interview their guests. They interrupt, finish their guests sentences and ramble on, not even formulating a question. The biggest offense is that they talk about how they liked something, how an experience was for them. It’s not about them. The focus should be on the guest. I am not saying that you guys do that, but from this episode it’s clear that you want to keep evolving and improving. The best interviewers do their groundwork; they research their guests, formulate great questions, and get out of the way. It’s comparable to Buck Brannaman quoting Ray Hunt, “ get more from the horse with less from you”. Ironically this approach makes the show better, and the hosts more visible. For what it’s worth, there it is. Thank you very much, and I look forward to more On The Move.
