Finished this book last night. I loved it. I do wish it was at least 200 pages longer to flesh out certain storylines. Esp since it is a stand alone book.

I've read the book first and I think jo and laurie would be nice. I am not against Amy and laurie. And it would be better if Jo wouldn't marry as louisa thought

I just finished this book and I feel gutted 😭 happy but something else too. I didn’t expect this ending really at all.

I started it, got 30% in and quit reading it for a year. It was confusing af and the love story lasted 2 seconds and boom your done after reading long dragged out shit

Hey!! You’re an AMAZING creator, house of salt and sorrows is my favorite book! There is a sequel called “house of roots and ruins” it is a different story line and actually follows verity! It’s soooo amazing. It doesn’t have any relations to the original book, but there are definitely some references to hosas!

The third book was also so disappointing for me! I loved the tv series and I wanted so bad to know what would happen. So I read the whole trilogy and was actually so frustrated with the characters development and depth. They did a wonderful job with the tv series. I love Conrad and Belly there, so I get exactly what you mean. I feel like they never gave us a reason as to why Conrad was acting the way he did :(

I think we had Simon and Ants pov around about the time when NPCs were being discussed. My understanding was that Simon & Ant represented NPCs, just a meta detail that didn't really need to be there. Also Sam & Marx kinda took Sadie to California to get away from Dov, so there's that. I don't know about the rest of it 😅

I'm also really looking forward to this movie. I've honestly only watched the movies of The Hunger Games but I loved them. I hope that The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is done well and that they put a lot of effort into the movie. Like you, I haven't seen many really "good" movies lately, so nothing I was very looking forward to. I've been waiting for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes for quite a while now, it's a movie, along with the second part of Dune, that has me excited with anticipation once again.

I've never read Charles Dickens, I feel like I need to at some point but everyone I've spoken to who has read him hates his books... maybe it's for a very specific taste

I just finished this 3rd book and.. It feels like a total character assassination of Jeremiah!! One aspect to this is obviously that we don’t get his perspective in this book, only Belly’s and Conrad’s, but I also simply don’t believe the way he acts sometimes. It doesn’t make sense for his character! He was always very caring and perceptive and could basically read every need, worry and wish from everyone’s eyes, especially Belly’s. But in this book: nothing. And I get it, at the end of the day he’s a teenage boy in a frat house, there is a lot of room to get distracted. I still would’ve loved his perspective cause I’m sure that Belly is definitely an unreliable narrator (as are the boys but puzzled together, we might have gotten the truth). Also, the ending felt way too rushed for me. It should’ve either ended the day of the planned wedding after Jere and Belly broke up and then she runs out and calls Conrad or something and the reader can think to themselves what might have happened in the future, or the book should’ve went on for another 2-3 chapters and shown us the “aftermath” and how Belly and Con became close again or something and THEN they can do the time jump… Loved the first two books and became Team Jeremiah, watched the show which confirmed my love for Jeremiah, but then the third book-??? It felt like the author was set on Conrad and Belly being the OTP and noticed towards the end that the story wasn’t going there and had to make some weird changes to make the OTP happen.. The whole Jere & Belly wedding was a super super weird storyline and didn’t make sense for both of their characters at all in my opinion… Was still a good read!

i disagree i do think it’s simply not good writing lol, like i just don’t think the author is skilled enough or cared enough or maybe was gearing towards a younger audience idk. It was like twilight level of ‘we are in love now and I don’t know anything about you or your character. Oh you don’t have any character? even better!” so one dimensional so boring throughout just simply not a well written book imo

I agree with Markymark - the reason the characters were written that way is because that's how life was back then. Not liking to much about the book because it doesn't fit with how you like how people were treated undermines the very story.

i totally agree with you how there no moment of bonding or showing love between belly and conrad, like its just everyone know they are end game but ya there are no moments to root for them.

Hi! I finished the book literally JUST NOW. I borrowed because since the author wrote the Cursebreaker series, I was hoping for that same sort of story here. Unfortunately, I didn't like it as much as A Curse so Dark and Lonely. I'm glad you made this review! I am probably going to read the rest of the trilogy to see if it gets better (i hope it does)

Didn’t like the ending.

I don't know why, but Raya kind of reminds me of Nova/Nightmare from the Renegades trilogy. I mean, both of them don't trust other people because they were betrayed as children and had their family ripped away from them at an early age. Additionally, over time, they both begin to question their attitudes toward other people. Just the way they fight and make plans is pretty similar (if I remember correctly, it's been a while since I saw the movie (but I just reread the trilogy a week ago, so it could be that I'm just comparing everything and everyone to it to forget the damn epilogue again :)). Well, that was just a little thought, I really enjoyed both and saw the movie twice. Oh, and I like how you somehow manage to express my own thoughts (even though I've only seen three videos of yours so far 😅). PS: Sorry for my bad grammar, it's not my native language :)

I was wondering if Narnia could be turn into musicals. I mean, there's a musical version of LWW, so I wouldn't see why the other books wouldn't. I can almost picture in my head in SC, Puddleglum sings the main melody and Eustace and Jill harmonize. Then Puddleglum tries to nudge them back to the same melody. In HHB, Shasta and Bree could have a song, and Aravis and Hwin could have a song. Then they could sing their songs sitatamously, like "Trombone 76" and "Goodnight, my Someone" from The Music Man. In LWW, Edmund could sing about his inner conflict as he walks towards the White Witch's castle, sort of like "The Confrontation" from Jekyll and Hyde. In VDT, Caspian and his men could sing a song as they are heading towards the slave market on the Lone Islands to free their friends, like "Do You Hear The People Sing" from Les Miserable. I can also picture in my head that for a musical number in LB, at the Battle of Stable Hill, Tirian and Rishda sing the main melody, and the Calormenes and Narnians harmonize, and the dwarfs could sing a totally different melody, given that they don't want to be on either side. Then Eustace and Jill harmonize as well, and Tirian tries to nudge them to the same melody and Rishda tries to nudge them out of the main melody. Those are random ideas. It is a thought if Narnia books could each be a musical.

As a Hufflepuff through and through I caaaant with the romances though lol 😭 (for me)…I feel more fantasy, loyal friends to the end, something tried and true, or cozy fantasy… not something w friends w benefits 🙃… I can see why you’d think romance though maybe…but for me I think hufflepuff is more wholesome, safe, cozy… 💛 even a wholesome romance… but I’m just sharing my thoughts/perspective 😋 I love the concept of this video though!!! This book is a futurama in mysteries -Salahurdin and Noor are more than best friends, they are family growing up as outcast in a small desert town of Juniper California, they understand each other the way o0ne one else does. Until the fight, which destroys their bond with the swift fury of a star exploding. All I can say is backwards, it was a small discomfort on the part of them, but point your fingers the other way...

I haven't been in Broadway musicals myself, but I would like to be for a community theatre. Some roles I could think of that I could play are Belle from Beauty and the Beast, either Fatine or Eiponie from Les Miserable, Christine Daae from Phantom of the Opera, Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, either Emma Carew or Lucy Harris from Jekyll and Hyde, Anastasia, Guinevere from Camelot, Aldonza from Man of Lamancha.
