Loton Park Hillclimb July 2024 in the 350z
My sole visit to Loton Park this year for a round of the HSA Speed Championship. Tough day pysically as i was unwell but got through managing a best time of 61 seconds dead for 2nd in class.

Back to my local favourite hill climb for the only time this year. It was 2 rounds of the BARC Speed Championship. Saturday was mainly dry but dissapointingly my times were way off previous visits. Sunday was wet so times were a lot slower but had some fun wrestling the car up the hill. Best time of 66.63 and 72.40 for each day.

Curborough Sprint Weekend in the 350Z June 2024

Back to Curborough for rounds of the NSCC and BARC Championships. Saturday was the figure of 8 layout and Sunday was the 2 lap course. A good weekend overall finishing 1st and 2nd in class respectivley. Best times of 65.64 and 65.57 seconds.
Mallory Park Sprint - June 2024 in the 350Z

My first visit to Mallory Park with the Zed. Perfect conditions on the day. Had to manage the car from overheating as the fans stopped working recently but it held out well and I posted a best time of 84.74 There are still a couple of places I can improve on when I go back in the future which I no doubt will as the organisers have said there will be a full weekend event next year.
Curborough Sprint Figure 8 circuit June 2024 in the 350Z

Owen Motoring Club were the hosts of the 60th anniversary of the "Graham Hill Sprint" at Curborough. We were running the Figure of 8 track on what turned out to be a great day weather wise. Getting quicker with each run, I managed a 66.62 secs when it mattered most to just pip the HSA target time of 66.71 finishing second in class. Coventry Motofest was celebrating 10 years this year and like most years, there is the Sprint event run which uses part of the inner ring road as the backdrop to the timed event. Glorious weather over the weekend provided perfect conditions for a full weekend of Sprinting action at Blyton. Both days were rounds of the NSCC and HSA Championships. Unfortunately, the Saturday footage was no good as i had the GoPro zoomed in and you couldn't see anything so this is just coverage of the Sunday. Finished 1st in class both days.

When I stumbled across possibly the last remaining older spec "profesional/elite" race suit in my size at a bargain price I couldn't resist buying it. Here I give you my initial thoughts and the pros and cons of the suit.

Eyup Glen. You mention tyres but do not say what you have on. Hope they are not Cup 2's as they take an age to warm up. Not a million miles from Harewood & maybe give the Chimaera a go there, which I have just fitted Toyo proxy T/R & they seem to grip really well. . Given you a sub . Hope you'll do the same. Will keep watching for your video's. Steve.
@@Steviegtr52 currently on Yokohama AD09 they take a while to warm up, prob like the cup 2, i will be going back to the Yokohama A052s they work from the 1st corner and are best 1b tyre for sprinting or hillclimbing currently.

I had a look briefly, as i expected i was half a second off in each sector so slower everywhere, just cant power out of each corner in the same way as a grippier tyre. Its honing my driving skills though this year as need to be much more alert.

I always said a well placed tank-slapper is the quickest way to turn a Zed..
I had the same issue with the fans on my DE I replaced them with Mishimoto not to bad a job
All sorted now, a connector had come loose but not the one you can see.
Some speed you're hitting there on those long bends. Very exciting... eek. Looks like you'd need an aero package for more downforce there :) 😀
That's an excellent performance right there. I thought there was no way you'd find that time in just 2 runs. To be error free on that last run when it counted? That must feel brilliant. I could sense the pain of resisting hitting the pedal out of those slow hairpins.. Well flipping done

I used to go here back in 1982, when Hillman Imps were quite popular
And I used to attend in 1965 -68 to watch 'Farmer Smith' from Strensall silently attack the hill in his MkV1 Bentley Spl , subsequently fitted with a later 6.2 litre V8 unit with auto box, from an S2 Bentley /Silver Cloud.
Must have felt brilliant on the Sunday when you took that huge chunk of time off. Obviously the tyres switched on but you drove the hell out of it too. It looked like you really had it by the scruff more than the first day. Definitely slowet in and faster out of those chicanes.

They are part of a championship. I do several. Its fairly straight forward to get started. Go on motorsport uk website but even better go spectate to a local sprint or hillclimb event and have a chat with people, all very friendly. Always good to see other zeds at events, if you start you will get hooked.

Just hit me while watching again (trying to get some memory of the track). Could that partial cut-out be the YAW sensor? Yeah you have TC off but that doesn't turn off, you probably know this. Just some food for thought👍🏼
I have a bypass module wired in that turns everything off so not that. I just think its when low on fuel and under specific g forces. Still better than the oem pump though
Currently buulding my Z DE for the track and can't bloody decide what coilovers to go for.. Can i ask what youre using bud? Im looking at the BC DS true rear coilover series atm, know if theyre any good?
I am on the eibach pro street S. good all rounder but no adjustment for damping/stiffness you can only adjust the height. I didn’t want the temptation to adjust eveything and mess it up but now wish i had full adjustability as it would help at different tracks. Lots of good kits out there, i think it is definitely the case of you get what you pay for, good thing is there are tonnes of options for the Zed. Cant go wrong with KW, Ohlins, meister etc. I think to run a true rear coilover on track you are best if its caged. ie the rear mounts are reinforced somehow. although people say they run them oem no problem, just not sure how much stress they put through the mounts.
😂Yeah man I know exactly what you're talking about. Christ I wish I could afford some KW v3 or ohlins. Got someone lined up to strengthen the areas arpund the rear towers along with popping a strut bar between them. Let pray I don't run into anymore bloody rounded bolts and shagged bushings! Hopefully will get to Cadwell this summer🙏🏼
Good review and analysis. We were running a Clio at the same event and we found the changeable conditions a big challenge. We ran NS2r in practice then switched to A052s for timed runs. Allowing for the conditions and just getting more confident during the meeting - we were 3 seconds quicker on the A052s on the International circuit.
Thanks, yep, A052 the tyre to be on, like i said afterwards, will be interested to see how the new nankang cr-s compare, priced very similar.
Another good one. Looked a bit of a handful on those tyres, especially under braking.
Braking was ok, main difference being you cant ask the ad09s to do 2 things at once (hopefully will get better with temperature)

Cheers pal, i am hoping its just a unique situation for the hesitation but we will find out at Anglesey. Also got the rocker covers replaced over winter which i forgot about all together, common for them to start leaking, need to keep the engine healthy for as long as possible.
