FYI: IBM Cloud ObjectStorage has now a free tier (www.ibm.com/cloud/free/storage), no lite plan needed.
FYI: Why do I call the three interaction possibilities with a large language model in the watsonx Prompt Lab “prompt structures”. A Prompt is as we can simplified say a text which will be sent to a large language model, this text can be structure in various ways, this fact inspired my to say the three possibilities to interact with the large language models in the Prompt Lab are three Out-Of-The-Box pre-defined prompt structures. - Chat is bound to a Chat Prompt structure containing information on the system, user, and assistant. - Structured bounds you to structure your Prompt in instructions, examples (shoots), and the question, or let me call it the last instruction 😉 - Freeform has no boundaries you are totally free to structure your Prompt as you want.

How to put a .p12 certification file in a client credentials ?
Hi, I haven’t done this with Node Red so I can’t answer this question. Greeting Thomas
It was Verry Informative for me. Thank You and make plaese more about Nodered, How can i use simple Websocket in Nodered?
Brother i need your help now in the ibm cloud there is no option for to select node-red it says its service is deprecated
I am sorry this is no longer supported by IBM and you need to check it out by your own the archived the related GitHub repo, maybe you can use it as a starting point. Greetings Thomas Here is the link: github.com/IBM/node-red-app
I search django but no search result found how i solve this problem
You right this is no longer available 🫣 maybe try it with Code Engine
There are a way to use authentication in HTTP In node? Thank you so much, regards.
Nice :)
Hi @Thomas, the very first part of your video doesn't work. The IBM Cloud App, Service starter kits is deprecated and there is no Node-RED app in the catalog tab. Would you happen to have a shortcut to fix the problem for new IBM cloud users who just joined recently after March 2023? New accounts don't have cloud foundry. Thank you for sharing your insights.
Hi, you are right I noticed this is no longer available. Maybe it works with Kubernetes and here is a video I made in 2021 ua-cam.com/video/0hnx8dNz6nQ/v-deo.html , but I would say you need to create you own fork for this GitHub project - github.com/IBM/node-red-app which is no longer maintained by IBM. Maybe that helps a bit. Greetings Thomas
This was very helpful in my current assignment. Appreciate your help. 👍
Thanks for you awesome feedback 🙂
Hope so you are Doing well, can you help me with access controller estee tf-70 biometric machine data from website to integrate in node red dashboard. Through node red dashboard we can access the biometric software, Normally see the users in and out and add the users data can be done by logging to this software. Now we want to do this through nodered dashboard, How can i do this task can you help me, Thanks in Advance.
Hi Zain, I don't really get what you want to achieve. At the moment I am fully booked. It depends were you want to save the logs? Many in a database for example cloudant? Maybe that can be an inspiration ua-cam.com/video/qtOmufIjafE/v-deo.html . I hope that helps a bit. Greetings, Thomas
Hello Thomas, Can I GET one data from HTTP and Post that data in different HTTP with in same sequence.
I don't get what you want to achieve, but it depends how you implement your "back end" flows, with that in mind yes. Maybe take a look into that more complex flow here: suedbroecker.net/2020/03/26/a-node-red-twitter-follower-flow/ I hope that helps and greetings Thomas
Thank you very much!
You can change the output of the 'http request' from UTF-8 to JSON within the node itself as well.
Thanks for your feedback
Hi Sir, great video - any guidelines on Cookie based authentication?
Hi Craig, cookie based authentication I wouldn't use in that context. I like Keycloak (suedbroecker.net/category/keycloak/) and Open ID Connect. I don't want to implement by my self any authentication manually, I would use a framework. So I don't have a guide for you at the moment. I hope I got you question right and my answers applies to your question. Greetings Thomas
What about securing the rest api?
Hi Hugo, securing a REST API is a different and important topic: owasp.org/www-project-api-security/ I haven't done this with Node RED, as I said in an other answers. I use Node RED more for simple prototyping. Here is a video I made how to access a protected API and not to protect a API ua-cam.com/video/sS9bBBb84sY/v-deo.html And eere is a series I managed about security: suedbroecker.net/2021/06/28/10-hours-of-live-recordings-which-are-built-on-experience-about-application-security/ So, I have no guide for secure APIs inside Node RED at the moment. I hope that helps and greetings, Thomas
node-RED has many connectors, do you think it is also ideal for ETL? To automate data imports from different sources to a PostgreSQL database? Maybe not datastreaming with GB/sec but MB from APIs, because this lowCode ist easier to create than with Apache Airflow.
Hi Thorsten, the answer is (as always) it depends. Are you going to use to it for production? I like to use Node RED for prototypes, just to test and verify does it work, but for production I prefer to write applications with code. I don't now Apache Airflow (airflow.apache.org/). I hope that helps and greetings Thomas
Do you have a way to authenticate a user for Dashboard login?
Hi Chisanga, I never tried to do that. The Dashboard flows.nodered.org/node/node-red-dashboard. The documentation points to that link nodered.org/docs/user-guide/runtime/securing-node-red. Maybe that helps. Greetings Thomas Dashboard: ua-cam.com/video/_AsiEcfV0ac/v-deo.html
Why anyone would choose to use this approach over using Spring Boot w/ Rest Repositories?
Hi @deftdawg, that is a valid question. There is a lot of material out there to cover such kind of topic. The video is not about the why MicroProfile. Spring and MicroProfile help you to build state of the art cloud applications. So let me take their own mission and objective statements with my simplified main extracts: spring.io/why-spring „an opinionated view of the Spring platform“ (spring boot) „We take an opinionated view of the Spring platform and third-party libraries so you can get started with minimum fuss. Most Spring Boot applications need minimal Spring configuration.“ microprofile.io MicroProfile is a specification and has the „goal of standardization“. „An open forum to optimize Enterprise Java for a microservices architecture by innovating across multiple implementations and collaborating on common areas of interest with a goal of standardization.“ So, it depends on your preference, I would say. Greetings Thomas
OpenLiberty is based on MicroProfile which in turn is a proper standard compared to Spring which is solely controlled by VMWare

Very good - Thanks Thomas!
Thank you so much! This tutorial helped me a lot 🙏🙌
Node-red is really powerful, makes some things so easy...
Thanks buddy, still learning this stuff, was really helpful!
I can't even believe you broadcast my question. First of all, I really wanted to thank you, it hasn't been 2 weeks since I started using Node-Red, and I didn't know I could connect the same output to two different nodes. I'm used to the Unreal Engine, which only accepts one output, following one flow. Thank you very much, by the way, I speak a little English too, but in a hurry, I ended up asking in Portuguese. Thank you, thank you, thank you, I will come back with many more questions, if I may of course.
Thomas, Actually, if I may, I have another question, if you can help me: When I use node-red to make a transmission (TTS - cloud_say) to Google Nest Mini, it stops the music that is playing, speaks the notification, but it does not play the music again, is it possible that this does not happen? Just say the notification, and play the song again.
@@EncontrosNoCaminhoCicloTurismo hi I guess you are using flows.nodered.org/node/node-red-contrib-googlehome right? So I don’t have a google home so I can‘t verify it. I would say you need to design a loop in Node-RED. flows.nodered.org/node/node-red-contrib-loop. I created a small example flow. github.com/thomassuedbroecker/absolute-beginner-node-red-flow/blob/master/node-red-flow/simple-loop-flow.json
Consigo executar uma acao apos o HTTP IN Request ?
Your question in english (I don't speak your language) : "Can I perform an action after the HTTP IN Request?" Good question, overall the answer is yes. Maybe, I will create a live stream related to your question. Here is the livestream: ua-cam.com/video/Ghqsnog1aV0/v-deo.html
I've spent so much time with you today i feel like we should go down the pub for a beer or two, thanks for the guidance, using a flow chart is a must, not in a million years would i have worked out how to do that in the right order. Yet i get it sort of slightly kind of not sure mainly because 1 hour for you has been been 4 hours for me, still worth it for the insight and 30 days of node Red Cheers M8. One question couldn't i push it to git to save my work flows, or just download them instead of worrying about the database.
Hi, many thanks for your awesome feedback, maybe we will really have sometimes somewhere a beer ;-). Here to your question: Related to the flows. I only showed the relation to database, that you know that the flows are saved permanently and you don't need to worry about when the Node-RED instance on the Kubernetes is restarted or deleted. Because, the database will not be deleted. Inside the database you will find your flow in a JSON format. The easiest way to save flow is just to export the flows. (nodered.org/docs/user-guide/editor/workspace/import-export). Of course you can also export the flows to a JSON file and then save them in your GitHub. I have also done this for a few examples, e.g. here (github.com/thomassuedbroecker/absolute-beginner-node-red-flow/tree/master/node-red-flow) I hope this answers your question. Greetings Thomas
Un gran vídeo, muchas gracias por ayudar y compartir tu conocimiento
quick question: how does Cloud Foundry compare to IBM Cloud Engine? How do I choose between them if I want to build a simple web app/API?
Hi, I can only say it depends on your goal of using it. Do you want your application to be available at all times even when it is not in use (standard runtime)? Or do you only want to pay when it is used. The question is serverless or not? This is my own perspective.
Brilliant - just what I needed, thanks!
Thanks for your awesome feedback. Greetings Thomas
Code Engine now is not available for Lite Account, Any other possibility to use Node-Red without upgrading from Lite ?
Can you help me?
Hi, when did you create your lite account? It depends when you created your lite account. This blog post contains links to the IBM Cloud Account documentation. Extract from today 14.10.2021: „Only Lite accounts created before 12 August 2021 can use Cloud Foundry apps that can access up to 256 MB of free, instantaneous runtime memory per month. You can use one org in one IBM Cloud region.“ suedbroecker.net/2021/08/16/some-information-about-the-current-ibm-cloud-lite-account/ Maybe that helps. Greetings, Thomas
@ I did create my account on 15/10/2021 after a entire week I can not create it. But when I follow your video to access node-red with Code-engine, I am required to upgrade my account to continue.
@@truongvanlinh3755 Hi, there is no compute/runtime available in a „lite account“ . You need to upgrade to a „PayAsYouGo“ account to use the Free Plans or Free Tiers available on IBM Cloud. Be the way … and for http requests, you need to know the REST API and the Authentication/Authorization then it should work
Hi @Rare Case, thanks for your feedback and everyone has the right to say his point of view. I only disagree with your general statement “no advantage from such architecture at all”. Advantage depends on expectations and what you want to achieve. (which department or stakeholder you are) I've been in the IT business for several years now and have seen a lot come and go (both architectures and technologies). That is why it is completely ok, if you have had bad experiences, to share and name them so that anyone can take advance from them, but you should not generalize them. You are right that a microservices architecture isn’t the right architecture for every application and has a different type of complexity and here is you can read one of many other different points of views. Here is one “why” and not "must" article: developer.ibm.com/depmodels/microservices/articles/why-should-we-use-microservices-and-containers/ Again, thanks for your feedback and greetings Thomas
Can't access to your videos on any device sadly.
Thanks, for the information I don't know why ... I didn't delete the stream ... as far as I know ... here is my new live stream for that topic ua-cam.com/video/I_ulT4xRoTA/v-deo.html
@ thanks for that!
Where is the git repo?
Hi Antony, here is a workshop ibm-developer.gitbook.io/get-your-java-microservice-up-and-running/ and here is GitHub project github.com/IBM/cloud-native-starter/tree/master/workshop-one-service
@ thanks Thomas! I find your tutorials very helpfully!
I want to track the value of a particular stock. I already wrote a python script and it works well. I want to run my script continuously. Is that possible on IBM cloud. Thank you
Hi Mosi, unfortunately I can't really classify your question correctly. Do you have a working app or is it really a script? Well, maybe a live stream I held helps: Create python django app instance on IBM Cloud in 13 min ua-cam.com/video/8myUKcoRYeg/v-deo.html can also be useful for you. If you really maybe want to run a Job from time to time a Code Engine Job could be a solution for you? cloud.ibm.com/docs/codeengine?topic=codeengine-lithops greetings Thomas
