I really enjoy this podcast, and I'm not sure if you guys are still making it. My one point of feedback is that Marlowe quite regularly does not let Steven finish his sentence or thought. Anyways I hope you guys continue with this amazing podcast!

Have you read the satirical "The Secret Diary of Roger Waters"? It's hilarious. I have no idea who wrote it, but it's hilarious. I love the old curmudgeon. He rules. Removing all the guitar solos from his DSOTM remake is so fkin funny, and I am a massive Gilmour fan (before he went fully Dad Soft Rock in the mid-80s). I loved his angry guitar solos on "Animals" and "Wall". He *needed* Roger. Roger's political takes are almost always correct. Fun fact, my Dad served in WW2 (I'm old) and was *maybe* at the battle that took Waters snr's life. One of 3 Monte Cassino battles. Italian campaign. Correction: Anzio Battle. My old man went through it at some point. I think Waters Snr is buried at Monte Cassino. So Dad probably wasn't near Anzio when that intelligence station was bombed to buggery, but I like to imagine that somewhere, somehow, they crossed paths. Dad was at Monte Cassino for one of the shitfights tho.

I'm just learning about Mr. Fisher. Specifically the idea that we are haunted by past promised futures which never came about. "Where's my mule? Where's my 40 acres?" So many promises made to manipulate people in this political system since colonial times. Since the Garden of Eden. Let alone our own private futures imagined which never came true when it seemedwe could reach out and snatch it up.

How did you manage to make such an exciting book sound so boring? Marlowe sounds like he quaffed a bottle of qualludes.

I appreciate the insights regarding the malevolent father archetype. However, the narrative evolves as both the father and child grow. I envision a well-orchestrated protest mirroring a constructive discourse with a father genuinely interested in understanding our needs. Unfortunately, within our current framework, such an outcome seems unattainable. The cessation of capitalism appears to be a necessary step forward.

I feel like you guys are super geniuses, doing this out of a pure love for life. Thank you for the deep conversations.

Hmmmm 🤔🤔🤔

This is very emotional for me because I deeply resonate with what Mark is expressing. I'm a 38-year-old male who was raised in Northern California and had the privilege of growing up in the cherished 90s. Life in 2023 feels like hell; it's profoundly distressing and seems like a living nightmare. However, my attitude remains positive. I find solace in the works of Viktor Frankl and various trauma philosophies to help me cope. Mark Fisher reminds me of so many great musicians who blessed us with their talent and then tragically passed away too young. Sadly, many of them only achieved significant recognition posthumously. It seems like Fisher's philosophy is now gaining traction on UA-cam. Thank you, Steven and Marlowe.

Never underestimate how much the British love an eccentric whom they consider as "mostly harmless", one of the reasons he was supposedly so "popular". But if The Establishment take him in, it sends a signal that he was Ok, otherwise they woukd have warned the public, right? Right??
