Does one have to work only with wool thread when making a needlepoint rug? I am allergic to wool and was wondering if working with Pearl Cotton would be ok. I have been trying to find a site to teach a beginner how to start a needlepoint tapestry rug but all I keep getting is latch hooks video or instructions. I am somewhat familiar with needlepoint work. Thank you.

I just hot glue mine into a cut frame. Never washed a cross stitch but I keep mine clean while stitching and dont use hoops. I stitch in a carboard frame that I throw away after each piece. Hoops always do things I don't care for. I like double mating as well and cut all my own mats.

Thank you! I’ve done couching before, but want to tidy my technique up a bit. This was perfect. Using it for a different design currently, but I just bought 12 Days of Christmas a few weeks ago, so it was nice to see a closer view of it before I start. Also, I must say, your kits are the best organised I’ve ever seen. I was really impressed when mine arrived 😍

I would love your helpful advice on how to clean and repair a cross stitch piece that was gifted to me as a child. Unfortunately, the edges of the fabric were stapled to a card board backing when framed and it put some strain on the fabric causing it to split and tear a bit over time since it’s been in storage.

You could take a tip from sewing, and snip a notch to make a mitered corner. There should be tutorials for that online, possibly under clothes or quilt sewing.
