Quick update of what is happening with the Honda CB250, Honda VFR800 and the newest in the garage (my mates) Suzuki Bandit GS1250. Hopefully we resume usual videos next week, might even get time to do my feature presentation of the Honda VFR800 100,000km review.

Quadlock Wireless Motorcycle Mount Install Honda VFR800

      Yes, depends too if you want a full system or just a slip on. Because it’s dual that makes it harder. I thought the Northern countries would have more options and affordable solutions, here in Australia everything is more expensive and less available.

    • @thefastratio

      No if you want the bars higher you would need to look at changing the whole setup and putting a full bar on, the clipons are already at their capacity with the 1 riser there.

      You would be better to do a system like www.sportbiketrackgear.com/lsl-honda-vfr-1200-10-14-handlebar-riser-kit/ or similar system to ensure the bar you use gets the height. The challenge will be cable lengths etc if you go too high

      Absolutely, pillion isn’t up too high and has plenty of power to haul 2. Depending on the pillion to whether adding a top box will help them feel more secure. Most sports bikes are a bit more aggressive position and pillion sits above rider more so they get more wind.

    just bought this and trying to connect the app to the device, but no luck. phone gets black screen and wifi keeps shutting off. anyone have a step by step because this is getting ridiculously frustrating. UPDATE 7/13/23. got it working. not bad for budget model. i sewed the speakers into padding of my helmet, directly in line with my ears and its nice not to run out of tunes after 4 hrs from earbuds. video is good. not poor and not great or excellent even. but its clear. took a while to figure out that wifi on phone needs to be turned on in order to connect to the camera, AND the device needs to be set for that connection. read instructions carefully and or watch the video on how to connect fodsport 30 to phone. good luck

      I’m not familiar with local laws for you, I have a video going up shortly discussing learner options. Here in Australia we have a power:weight which often you can get some 600cc bikes etc as they’re heavier. My personal opinion is not to start your motorcycling on a VFR800, instead get a 300cc or similar cheap and learn on that. The VFR has got plenty of power but inexperience could end badly for you. Really depends if you get a VFR800 and really hone your slow manoeuvres and get your skill there, but definitely go easy on the throttle and remember the vtec so it doesn’t take you by surprise. Welcome to the world of motorcycling and I hope you get great enjoyment and satisfaction from whatever bike you start with.

      It does have voice commands, which you do need to trigger. So it doesn’t work on “hey siri” but you push a button and tell it what you want and then the unit relays the command then goes from there. I have used it to call contacts from my contacts whilst on a highway.

    • @thefastratio

      I generally get approximately 350kms and that’s combined. I do like kicking in the vtec. I also don’t push it to roadside, so I could maybe go a bit further but the fuel empty indicator is on around the 350kms.

      Yes all this generation Honda moved the exhaust to up under the seat rather than following the swingarm

    Hey brilliant video especially the technique to get the brake cylinders out! But how does the clip between the brake pads actually go. I've tried Haynes manual etc.. I've kinda just guessed..

      @thefastratio Рік тому

      Thanks for the feedback! It depends which brake clip you are referring to there are 2 that are tricky i have more to do on my brakes so I will ensure to put some more detail into that one around the clips.

    That's not a lot of engagement on the actual clip on, I wouldn't trust it myself, the little cap thing isn't doing anything other than covering the gap left after installing the riser piece.

    • @thefastratio
      @thefastratio Рік тому

      The little cap is just helping to “take up space” and even the pressure on the top of the forks. You can do full 22mm bar swaps and do away with the clip ons, depends what look and effort you want to go to. I’ve gone back and forth between the risers on and off to see if they make things more comfortable and at this point can’t really tell much difference, however I haven’t really done a long ride with the risers to see if the wrists are as sore.

    How heavy is this thing? I’m 150lbs and looking to buy one, do you think it will be to heavy for me?

    • @thefastratio
      @thefastratio 2 роки тому

      I’m only a bit more in weight myself and depending on whether you plan to drop it on it’s side. It will also depend on your strength to lift and your angles, I’ve found the bike hardly notices me on it. The power is as if I am not even on the bike and the suspension hardly compresses really. Obviously lighter than say a 1000cc or larger, not sure the weight of a 600cc but personally like the vtec kick and economical aspects when under 7,000rpm.

      @@thefastratio I’ve only started to ride my Z400, even though I bought it at the beginning of the year. I actually got Learner licensed today, and for the second time due to a crash the first time I had my L’s last year. It was so nice to ride again. As for my next bike, definitely wanting something in the 600cc range. But that’ll be after I do my MOST. For the meantime I’m just doing my research on UA-cam, the cone weeve, freaks me out. My “fast idle, friction point, rear brake” is a bit rusty.

    • @thefastratio

      Are you wanting sports type 600cc? R6, CBR600, Ninja 600 or something dual sports like a Africa Twin, Tenere, Versys? Very different or you just want a street bike, you could look at the Triumphs harleys (if thats of interest). Aways good to have an idea of the type of riding etc you want to do. The sports bikes are a bit more challenging for the slow manoeuvres, the street bikes have more bar steering so slow speed can be easier. Even turning between the cb250 and the vfr800 is miles apart. I prefer the cb250 for the slow speeds but love the acceleration of the vfr. Only advise is slow speed practices in a carpark, watch and practice some of the stuff @MotoJitsu has on his channel there’s stuff there which will improve your thinking and confidence.

      @@thefastratio I’ve been drooling over the new LAMs R7. Because I need something faired for what type of riding I’m currently doing which are more highway. Before I started to get into motorcycles, I dreamed of getting into cruisers. Then it turned into cafe racers, then now into sports bikes. And now, I’m set on one day getting myself a 4cly bike. And yeah I agree, even with the turning circle of my naked Z400 is great, it’s way less (in my opinion) compared to those CB125e bikes in the prelearners course, which I’ll definitely be rent one when I do my MOST. I almost stacked it U-turning on my Z400 the other day expecting it to turn like the CB I rode last weekend 😅 I’ve heard VRFs are great fun bikes, and they have that beautiful 4cly sound👌 Oh yeah @Motojitsu is great, I also like @DanDanTheFireMan and his breakdowns of hazards on the road. Even though he pushes sponsors a bit too much on his channel, but man’s gotta eat like anyone else.
