M. Anzoletti - Study No. 2 for Viola, Op. 125
6:09 That part is a nightmare to play. i got this piece a few weeks ago and it requires to much to know perfectly and I still can't play it right.
Fantastic arrangement and playing! I just wish variation 6 was loud and intense...
All those crotchets moving like quavers..... another 'Shostakovich' wannabe-composer in the 20th century?? Hard to follow in my opinion...
imitating Shostakovich in 1903? Very impressive time-travelling skills, considering shosty wouldn't be born for another three years
@@tobiaszeller4323 I'm not being sarcastic in any way here, but thanks for pointing that out. I was under the impression that Forsyth was around/and composed years after Shostakovich..... I was lead to believe this by two parties: one, my university lecturers (so.... do they owe me and my peers part of my/our $60 000 back?) and two: world class viola soloists who speak of him [in interviews] as if he (Forsyth) died in the last two decades.....
Apologies again for making this mistake. I might've been confused since I've performed the 8th Quartet of Shostakovich (viola part) many times before "discovering" Mr Forsyth, and researched a LOT about [Shostakovich and his amazing life] yet somehow forgot exactly when he was born!!! Whoops. If a colleague hadn't mentioned Cecil Forsyth to me then I may (never have learned about him)!
My favs 1) mozart 2) stamitz 3) Brahms 4) reger 5) walton Gorgeous music ❤❤❤
A gem of a concerto
I like how it slows down and returns to the second movement, very cool.
Such a wonderful concerto for a wonderful instrument.
Viola brilhando 🤩🎻
5:14
Magnifica esecuzione e arrangiamento. Grazie!
J'écoute ce 3 concerto pour violoncelle et orchestre de GF Goltermann et je le trouve époustouflant.Bien meilleur concerto que je pensais, le meilleur des 8 . Goltermann mérite mieux que l'oubli .Final brillant
hindemith?????
Cecil Forsyth wrote a great orchestration book, an erudite, witty and insightful work. And, unlike many a composer, modestly refrained from including any of his own works as examples.
my fav parts <3 9:31 21:30 23:40
There’s a reason this piece is not in the standard repertoire. Sorry.
and what's the reason? 😢😢
Because it’s too good.
Bro loves to ruin family gatherings
That’s was awesome! I’m going to have to see if I can study this with my teacher!
I don’t know if the Telemann viola concerto in Gm is too easy of a piece for this list but I feel like it’s one of the most recognizable viola pieces.
Wonderful work, but would have been significantly improved by including the name of the performer against each work.
A truly fantastic collection of what our wonderful instrument is capable of! Thank you.
You cant play 10ths on viola, it was most likely 3rds
But you can hear 10ths
Sorry to argue with you... but... yes you can. I personally can play 13th's on viola, but they don't sound great of course (even though they're in tune). 10th's are just fine in comparison to 13th's.
Well done master!
No Berlioz?!
Viola players of the world, unite!
didnt expect someone like you to be into classical lol
Best cadenza written for Brahms Violin Concerto. Vengerov's cadenza is also very interesting
Note that, in measure 79 of the first movement, the viola part shown here does not match the recording. This is because there are two versions of that measure found in different editions, one of which has a B minor chord and the other of which has a D major chord. It's uncertain which version is what Hoffmeister intended. There is no surviving autograph score, and despite Hoffmeister being best known as a music publisher, this concerto was not published in his lifetime. The surviving source material that we have from Hoffmeister's time is a set of parts, without score, and in the handwriting of at least three different copyists. If I remember correctly, in that set of parts, the orchestral parts have a B minor chord in measure 79 and the solo viola part has a D major chord. (It may be the other way around.) Some modern editions change the orchestral parts to match the chord in the solo viola part, others change the solo viola part to match the chord in the orchestral parts. When I learned this concerto, I played the double-stops in B minor as heard in the recording, rather than in D major as printed in the viola part above. I've heard recordings of both versions, and I think B minor is more interesting, but both versions can be done convincingly.
Need advice from Viola experts! I am passionate about playing Viola! ua-cam.com/video/CPEBHsK25jk/v-deo.html
Great piece and performance. Funny that Cecil Forsyth, in his orchestration book, as sounding like a duck!
This was beautifully played gotta practice this one right away. Whoever performed this executed the hell out of it.

@@pangpang-cheese 마지막이요
I remember studying a viola concerto written in the late 1970s and realising that I couldn’t count and wasn’t going to make it as a viola soloist.
Здорово❤
Uno de mis concertos de viola favoritos, espectacular composición. Saludos
Lo anterior me trajo acá qué maravilla de sincronicidad
Nunca nada salió mal o va a salir mal, es solo que tenemos una lección de como queremos verlo
Shaham's performance is outstanding
Really fantastic. Bravo!
Thank you. Who is the publisher of the printed music? I am trying to lacate it in vain.
ligeti sonata forgotten
The Hubay Viola Concerto what I recorded is based on 3 different sources. The Morceau de Concert (which Viola part is showed - mistakely - here) the Morceau de Concert transcribed for cello, and the 3 mvment Viola Concerto for Viola and piano. We wanted to present the 3 mvment great romantic Viola Concerto, as authentic as possible, but it was not originally orchestrated by Hubay. So we had to use the orchestrated versions (Morceau-s), composer Lajos Huszár created a new orchestration for the 2nd and 3rd mvment. The first movement is based on the 3 mvment version, using the full orchestration of the Morceau-s. So all the differences came from Hubay himself. I hope there will be printed music soon.
hi, where did you find the score for bowen's viola concerto? thank you !!
Why killing such a masterpiece?
The third movement feels like a personal dig at Brahms. What did he do to hurt you???
where did you get such clean scans of these scores?
Ben Hames
Lovely
where can I print off this music/
imslp.org/wiki/Toccata_and_Fugue_in_D_minor,_BWV_565_(Bach,_Johann_Sebastian) (the arrangements tab; look for 'Soontornniyomkij')
Do you know where I could find the Jacob (1925) selection?
Wowwwww good Job Bro 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Outstanding performance!
Really?
It switches repeatidley through 3 clef. Wow😅
