Theological Genealogies of Modernity

An International virtual conference on the stories of how we came to inhabit the modern world. Genealogies of modernity are broad narrative accounts of the rise and nature of our present cultural condition. Theology nearly always features, in some way or another, in narratives about the formation of modernity, even if its role is just being a discourse and set of practices that was gradually marginalized by the onset of a more secular age. In July of 2021, this conference gathered together an international team of scholars to explore genealogies of modernity sympathetically and to evaluate them critically.

@Oskar So what was Nietzche's criticism of Darwin again? I know he was highly suspect of Darwinism, and it's effect on the perceptions of the age.
Definitely the best description of genealogical methodology. The movement from description to prescription was definitely enlightening. The methodology tends to imply a certain value structure in its very bracketing of values. This tends to get filled in by the methodologists own biases.

Brad Gregory refutes himself in his supposedly "refutation" of Milbank. If Christianity changed a society based at slavery to a society which didn't rest upon, but still had instances of slavery, then it clearly shows that the view of Christianity slowly changed something in given society.
