A lot of people know Leigh Mathews, Dennis Pagan, David Parkin, Kevin Sheedy, but people like John Kennedy, Ron Barrasi ,Tommy Hafey and Alan Jeans were absolute treasures.
It’s a shame Alan Jeans couldn’t be at that table, between them all they revolutionised the game as coaches….
RIP RON
RIP
Do the assistant coaches ever say anything in the box?
Scraping the bottom of the barrel. Met him down in Hobart in 2015 at the Salamanca markets at a local cafe. Tried to cut the line in front of me. Total flog.
Which one? I’ve met 2 of them on the panel one was just an entitled arrogant person flexing their old reputation, Barassi, the other was just in a grumpy mood and was rude but I didn’t read much into it as he looked like he’d just come out of a heated discussion/meeting and wasn’t really interested in signing an autograph for a work experience kid wheeling a barrow full of sand, Matthews.
9:25 Yuck. Karl Marx.
7.37 is what football is. As a player that’s what you want to hear!!!!
2021 and Bucks and Harvey are still there, wtf!!!!
2022 and Bucks and Harvey are no longer there. wtf!!!!
Is that Coaching ?
Kevin Sheedy is more successful than any of these guys. He actually looked after the game as well as won premreships.
sheedy could still coach in the modern game, sorry to say and the utmost respect to these legends but they are dinosaurs.
@@konzaros7482 players today need these type of hard men to toughen up
4 premierships, same as Barassi, Parkin and Matthews, but should be there with them.
Barassi is far more successful than Sheedy.6 Flags as a player 4 as a coach. For the best part of his career he was a elite footballer in the top run of players,Sheedy was at his best just a handy player in a good team.As for Sheedy looking after the game, he was instrumental in bring in the 50 meter penalty,by making his players hold down opposition players when giving a free or taking a mark and not handing over the ball, this was as to give his player time to get back and defend, who gave a flying f##k that it was not except able for the previous hundred years certainly not Sheedy. Then he went on and on about inter change, needing more on the bench, well he got that, now we have five hundred interchanges a game. For those who understood the EARLY game, when everybody got a little tired and slow, you had a certain group of elite player that actual excelled in these moments, they where the likes of Barrasi,Whitten the elite, the club champion that won the games, well when sheedy got his way with inter change ,all they had to do was run this player into the ground with fresh players ever ten minutes.By having more on the bench and more inter changes, you speed the game up,you speed the game up you get more injuries.
@@konzaros7482 they are dinosaurs but their coaching theory still holds up.
Just over complicate things and use language players dont understand. Laughable.
Poor sando just seems out off his depth up there in front of the players
Wasn’t inspiring was it
27 VFL/AFL Premierships between them. GOATS
do you think anyone ate those sandwiches and party pies and stuff? They look good.
Violons for effect ummmmm nope sorry
Denis Pagan for PM!!
Bloody oath
Dennis get your arse back to Arden at we need you.
Hows ken hinkley having ago at another staff member because his players cant kick . Gross
If he the skills coach then acceptable.
@@Les_Grossman80 hardly
Barely had a go.... It's the big boss being told they need to practice kicking, so he allocates time. He has other people asking about other shit all the time... He was talking to the kicking coach
Wonderful listening to these legends but Pagan seems a little bitter, particularly about the modern ways. Looks like he still hasn't come to terms with how his coaching life ended. The other 4 seem quite content & happy with retirement & on reflection are willing to discuss their flaws & failings. Pagan, on the other hand doesn't admit a single fault. He needs to let it go.
disagree,Pagan just as rounded as them, more philosophical no doubt,Barrassi just fearsome Pagan and Kennedy fortunate enough to have coached the 2 players regarded throughout history as the 2 best ever in Carey and Matthews, and both are well aware of that fact, all these guys were blessed to coach some of the greatest players ever and i like the fact that deep down they know this, even the ruthless Lethal Leigh is humbled the only one i think that may find it hard in giving compliments to brilliant individuals would be Barrassi,i could be wrong
It shows these great coach's have so much in common and nothing as well. Barrasi coached Pagan,Kennedy Coached Parkin,Matthews and Pagan, but no one coached Barassi, except The Red Fox. A great chat and from 14 and still relevent.🇦🇺
These are hard men. They played hard. They expected their players to play hard. No prisoners. Maybe not much in tactics but inspirational oh yeah.
would have like to see mick malthouse here.
Malthouse, Sheedy, Blight and Mark Williams.
yeah fantastic call
How the mighty have fallen (re polec)
I thought McKenna got screwed by gc, clearly calm and collected in the box, cool head under pressure
MANCHESTER UNITED ✋ this is enough I love both sports but you need to stop bullying AFL if you can’t satay anything good shut up 🤐
@M how goods Leicester city aye?
this makes me so proud of the AFL
Some of the greatest
@M yet no one goes nuts when they see soccer for the first time. They just think "why are they crying and rolling on the ground all the time".
On which show did this air?
vimeo.com/109768019 full documentary
Ron Barassi is the scariest coach of all time
Pagan legend
Good stuff!
Does anybody know the name and singer of the blues song
Only wish this went on for another couple of hours....
Very impressive footage of the INSIDE LOOK of the inner sanctum. Thanx for uploading.
This so nostalgic / priceless. Perhaps the AFL media producers have been motivated by the NFL's America's Game series that the AFL have utilised with the Bombers, Hawks & Kangas Glory run of years gone by but the COACHES round table discussion is a BRILLIANT counter action concept. Excellent stuff.
donedeal22 I can only hope so, and hope a lot that it's taken further and we can see it in the US because as a massive fan of NFL Films and a native Patriots fan but also a massive AFL from the early 90's who never got to see all the things about a season in series because things were never coordinated here. These movies and the 30 for 30 series now are the way forward for codes like AFL, really. Both as a way to advertise the game and preserve the history of the players and stories, this is the way forward.
Where can i watch the entire documentary
Can you show John Longmire?
Can you upload the whole documentary???
What’s the documentary called?
Thanks for uploading this, it looks very interesting
