Have you ever heard of or know of any research that would indicate one way or another whether or not something like an algae bloom/(cyanobacteria) on the soil surface/turf stand which may have contributing factors such as high P applications, that the algae can flow with water off the site? It seems when you get a cyanobacteria patch, it forms a crust that is readily friable that could easily move by wind/water off the site.

What about thinning grass on a slope? I have a busy work schedule and water with a hose end sprinkler so the advice to water for 5 minutes and let soak in and then come back and water again is not practical for me. Installing a sprinkler system is not practical either since I’m planning on moving soon. Any other advice? Thanks!

I feel the timing of my soil sample depends on my objective. I have a warm season turf in Zone 8b and my final nutrient application was made a week ago. I have followed your advice regarding N,K, and S this year with great results. I would like to know my current soil numbers following this years nutrient program, and what I am seeing with my turf. Do I need a sample, not necessarily. Do I want one, yes! I think it is interesting, and that is reason enough for me to sample annually.

Fertilizer good. Roundup bad. I know everything I need to know. ? 😅

And the big danger comes in the form of bs sales and marketing. Too much is locked up in your soil, this product will solve that.

What about deficient amounts of potassium and then added potassium? Do you or have you actually seen deficient potassium levels? And if we’re talking about a putting green, and removing clip so the soil is not getting any k returned, just how much a year are we talking on average of removing? Like 30-50ppm? We haven’t applied any K in 7 years but starting to see the signs of a potassium deficiency

I used Urea for the whole year, no issues at all, and only expended $40 on 1 bag that lasted for the whole season, 0.5 lb per 1000 and 5 applications during the year, amazed with the results, and no issues with diseases on the lawn during the whole year

Hi, Dr. Shaddox, do you have any recommendations for an end-of-season cut height? Per your advice, I'm trying to keep my Kentucky blue grass and perennial rye grass as long as possible during the fall to encourage deeper root growth, but I'm not sure what to do for my final two or three cuts before the New England winter hits.

I want to applaud Dr. Shaddox for spreading the word on stabilized Urea. I've been now on a Spring .5lb fall 1lb. split application of straight Urea for 2 years now. I've got 16k sq.ft. and that one 50lb bag is all I need for 1 full year. 14lb. in Spring, 36lb. in Fall. And it costs $30 per bag,... for 1 year, just straight up, plain old Urea, not stabilized, not sulfur coated. I water it in immediately after applying. No burn.

Dr Travis I was told by someone that the addition of potassium will increase soil pH. Their explanation was that the K cation is a stronger bond than H+ such that K will replace H. Any thoughts 😂! I’m very confused. Also outside of fungal issues, salt accumulations, and Tenacity what would bleach grass white?

Amino Acids are for mineral chelation is what I've always thought. Minerals must pass through a plant membrane for chelation, but tank mixing amino acid with raw materials creates a chelation suspension?
