Arch oil testing on a 7.3 Powerstroke
We took a 248,000 mile hard starting 7.3 Powerstroke in the middle of winter to see if we could make it start and run better by doing nothing more than treating it with Archoil. This wasn’t the worst starting truck we have seen by any means but the results are pretty obvious.

    I bought this kit, while I think it's ok for the money, whoever packaged it should be reprimanded. I got all Front end brackets, no rears. So all offset for u-bolts shackle mounts. Not good. And the u bolts are just grade 5, or at least that's how they felt when torquing them. I stopped at 85 ftlbs because they felt they would stretch (twist off) or strip out if I went further. 9/16" bolts should be stronger imo. The paint they coat the U-bolts with can be very thick and cause issues trying to get them torqued also. You can tell you get what you pay for, and since it wasn't overly expensive imo, it showed. but it seems to be holding together and did what it was supposed to do. Best thing I did was buy a good Cobalt 5/8" drill bit for drilling the u-bolt plates. Save yourself the headache thinking you're "dollar store" 5/8" drill bit will do the job lol! WELL worth the money.

    You should change your high pressure oil as well. I can guarantee that oil in the high pressure system will be black as can be. Your truck will start far easier by doing that.

      How do you remove it ? Is there way to drain to pan or have to suck it out

    • @JLCmike4014
      @JLCmike4014 11 місяців тому

      @@huntersharpe1700, there’s an allen head plug on top of the high pressure reservoir that you have to remove. You will have to suck the old oil out with a fluid evacuator. Run the truck for 5-10 minutes then do it again. Then do the same thing again a 3rd time. Or you can remove the high pressure plugs on the heads and suck the old oil out of the oil logs there but you still have to get the old oil out of the reservoir. You’d be amazed at how nasty that oil is. The truck will start and run much smoother by doing that.

    • @jackylsmith8138
      @jackylsmith8138 7 місяців тому

      No need to remove it. It is in the same system as the engine oil. If you drain it. The oil pump fills it up.

    • @JLCmike4014
      @JLCmike4014 7 місяців тому

      @@jackylsmith8138, i know but i’d rather get as much old oil out as possible so as to keep the new oil cleaner for as long as possible. That high pressure oil takes a beating in a HEUI system so i do whatever i can to extend the life of my injectors and high pressure system. .

    • @robertkwiatkoski1292

      I also change mine. 1st time I stripped the plug. Ran 100 miles +/- before I changed it after changing the oil. Engine oil did stick looked like new oil. Upper was black. I have personally changed the upper 5x at an oil change. Still black! Thus, I don't get the argument that you don't need to change it. Especially either the injector system. My only question is if I change the lower 1st snd add archoil am taking it out of the system when I do the upper 2nd? Yes, I add some arhoil to the last oil fill on the upper. Thank you.

      Hey Steve just so you know there is a lot of wildlife habitat remediation work done with these machines, you should try researching it. Some forests also need to be managed to promote species and prevent fires, so while all you see is negative there is some good

      appreciate the write back. the calamity known as development alongside a species that has lost its way with compassion for the earth knows few if any boundaries towards destruction of all habitats. the horror and terror i wake with daily is a perfect example of this. that being said the ingenuity of the same species also knows no bounds and herein lay the conundrum for the future. the machine seems to be a very good example of the intelligence of man to deal with the logistics of habitat creation. in this respect it is a highly desirable product i'm sure. again thanks for getting back. much appreciated.
