Ciao! My friend Allison and I met Tim at the Averau rifugio in the midst of a snow storm that shut the lifts down for the day in the upper mountain. Tim’s wisdom of the area and willingness to help got us back on track to finish our planned Grande Guerra loop. So glad we bumped into you, Grazie mille!

Thank you for this video - what is the difference between total distance you show at the end and ski distance? Almost always distances of the pistes seems overstated - for example la longia instead of 10.5km seems less then 8km (on different equipment: garmin etc). I always wandered whether they measure something different

So jealous. But we have snow this year and more and more mountains are opening everyday. My daughter will be on the slopes next weekend.

I regard La Longia as roughly equivalent to Banff Sunshine's ski out if taken from the top of the Divide chair, to the cat track, do some trees, sharp right through the Village, to the Ski Out proper, up Jack Rabbit, down Roller Coaster, past Goat's Eye, then using Lower Gulley to the parking lot. Same mixture of above the tree line, narrow gorges and easy groomers. Albeit, Là Longia gets the nod for better restaurants.

Why is there a guy riding his mountain bike down the slope at 11:03?

I'm not impressed old man. A lot faster is possible. You know the run to the new blue gondola, (you know which one) I saw a reckless guy, I could keep up but wasn't able to pass him because he went so fast. At the end of the run I saw he was a old man too. Very impressive. So no excuses.

Is the red from the top of Marmolada fairly doable for an intermediate(ish) skier ?

What do you do with your dogs when out skiing? We have a golden who would love the snow. But leave her with our breeder back home, as we can’t walk her during lunch and give her the attention a dog needs during the day. Kind of wondering if there is a walking service or dog daycare in the alps😅
