The pocket bro the pocket
Dude, the Grateful Dead weren't even in Barton Hall that night. The CIA whom Jerry was working for at the time had the entire show pre-recorded in Holophonic Sound and Video. It was the first time they were able to try out this new technology and with everyone properly dosed before entering the venue no one was on to them. From what I have heard they also brough living aliens to the venue and had them walking around to see how the dosed audience would react. It was just one massive psy-op perpetrated on the Dead Heads in the glorious Spring of 1977. I was 12.
Great job!!! This is my favorite live performance of this band ❤
THIS IS NOT FOOTAGE FROM 5/8/77
John Mayer sounds better to me
It’s not just understanding what to play but having the ability to play it
I like the Dead OK, but this seems like pretty basic stuff. I don't get what you want us to hear here.
If this is their greatest 2 minutes, I feel I'm done :(
All due respect to Billy's playing, but seriously this is corny as shit. Billys a great guitarist, but seriously how corny and narcissistic. But great guitar work billy. But seriously be more humble.
I KNEW SOMETHING LOOKED COMPOSED (KE- PATCHED UP & TAPED TOGETHER. IS THIS THE CLOSING SHOW WHERE HE SCREWED UP THE VERSES & JUMPED AHEAD AND HAD TO DO THAT AGAIN.
Is that Live or a joke w/dubbing? Shredder?🐄💨
This video is obnoxious. 👎
The dead were maybe in my top 10? JMO I `ve heard many people say their music all sounds the same.
Forgot to mention the Dead were always up there at the top earning group.
No reason for this to exist. So much footage of this band... Why make this?
I was there...really. I was 18, a college student. I still have the ticket stub: $8.25.
jack straw
super rich jam - thanx
bujt heared better versions of this piece, though
Anyone know which Peggy O in the last quarter or so of the video? Jerry was really on fire there
I just don’t get it, but i really want to. Can someone recommend me a good live album?
Veneta Oregon like 75-77
Europe '72
Can't believe how 2 chords could make such amazing music. B-A the 5th and 4rth chords in the key of E. Super music to run to. I laugh when the line "Long distance runner why you standing there? I respond" I'm not Jerry, I'm running. I did get up and out of the door:😊" Thanks for posting
I still say 87-90 Dead is a fully realized band that knows where it wants to go and how to get there and fired with all cylinders.
Absolutely
🎉🎉correct🎉🎉 best years right there…87-90!
🌹❤ Those were wonderful years! ❤🌹
91 also. But I agree. The cohesiveness of the 80s rivals at any point in time. The only thing that’s different is the texture of the sound from period to period. In 77, they’re experimenting but still rudderless sometimes . In 89, they’re locked in dead nuts to where they want to go and do.
Bullshit pal! 70s was the best especially when my friends NRPS opened for them!
Hey now! Cornell 77 is considered one of the best Grateful Dead shows ever ☮☮☮🙏🎸🎸🎸🌹🌹
I'm glad that you put this version out there. It's always been one of my favorites off their cover songs.
No question, this was the dead at the peak of Keith's power. Hell of a show !
Mine is 5-8-77 (same show) the solo in Scarlet......thanks for the vid.
donna godchaux birthday is this week, happy birthday donna!
great but with some caveats. the mix here is quite dirty and not very clean. you can get better Matrix combos, to get that SBD crispness but minimize the AUD to get the audience feel. also i know it might be heresy to some but there are LOTS of moments from the 80's and 1990 Dead that I think would do a better job. still great though.
NO WAY! Terrbile title.
There was a period of my life in the early 90's when one of my only worldly possessions was a cassette copy of this show. I played it so many times that every single moment of sonic energy is forever burned into my mind. From the start of Take a Step Back to the end of Morning Dew is the most sublime set of live music ever recorded. I would argue that Jerry's first solo in this Scarlet is the most perfectly phrased guitar solo ever played. And the way they take apart NFA and put together Saint Stephen blows my mind every time I hear it.
Won't argue how good this is, but jam out of foolish heart from the soo many roads box set......
There is NOTHING like a Grateful Dead concert!!!!
Jerry is the best. When they came back as The Dead with Joan Osborne on vocals, they had to have two lead guitarists, and Bob Weir to make up for the loss of Jerry.
That's a great 2 minutes, but I'm sure I have a couple of other Dead minutes that I prefer.... but gee it's good...
Big fire
Hey. Thank you for providing us with this useful video. My wife & I are planning a European trip next year in April. The last stop is London. I'm trying to go to the Chelsea Liverpool game on May 3rd. I've been looking at tickets on that Stubhub ei website. Im very scheptical because of the reviews & all the possible scams. Now the question is? When I become a club member can I purchase the tickets for that match after the 3 day wait period or is there an open window at some other time? Any tips will help. I appreciate the video 😊
So many
Making word salad to say you like terrible music😅
Not even in the same galaxy as a Mark Knopfler.
One from red rocks 7/8/78 is also great
Nope. Sorry. They still suck.
Yet here you are 😂
the solo before that is waaaaay better!
The best 2 minutes of that would be in Morning Dew
I've had the pleasure of attending 15 or 20 Dead shows, always up front briefly or for the length of the show, always drawn to Jerry. There were a number of times that I directed myself to focus on the other fine players in the band, but I was always drawn back to Jerry. The last time I saw them, Jerry was returning my focus throughout the concert - a gift. And then he left us. I drove on through the Marin hills toward SF and felt his music resonating from every direction on the way. It was exhilarating. I headed for Ashbury and found a crew of Deadheads sitting cross-legged around a sidewalk tree, and joined them in singing Dear Prudence as heartfully as we could. Thank you, Jerry Garcia.
You can dislike the style of music but you still have to admit his skill. I dont like metal but I have to admit the skill Kirk Hammet has.
3 weeks ago...I met a US Navy captain who commanded a destroyer during the Cuban Missle crisis...he now plays acoustic guitar. At an informal jam...he kicked off with Scarlett Begonias...I was playing mandolin...I played the lead notes faithfully...I was in Heaven! He went into Cumberland....then Ripple. He was in his 80's...excellent musician! 😊
Most overrated show in history. Boston and Minnesota are better and everyone knows it as is that entire May. The scarlet/fire tension is the selling point
You Got a link for me?
Stfu. This is such clickbait. No one will ever be another Jerry. Period. Lot of people don’t get it about Jerry. It was his incredible guitar playing. So yes he plays GD songs. He doesn’t sing as well as Jerry and he can’t play a solo even in the same universe as Jerry. And that’s what it’s all about. I wish there were others who could play as well as Jerry.
Glad to see a shot of Don Julin in this.
The greatful dead have allways sounded terrible.
Solamente leer el enunciado de la pregunta, me siento ofendido ❤ Por lo tanto no necesito contestar. RIP Jerry
