The unique collection of antique singing bowls from The Singing Bowl Museum.
This is a singing bowl collection like no other. I really only kept the very best out of thousands of antique singing bowls I sorted through in Nepal over the years. Now they’re for sale at singingbowlmuseum.com but it was meant to be a real museum. These are the last and best of my antique singing bowls. Here’s more about the collection, how I organize and record them.

The evolution of an antique singing bowl set: great, greater, greatest
Admittedly, I am new to singing bowls, however I do collect antiques and relics, when my daughter passed in March… I started to listen to them online, and then came my need to find a few that I liked, I found the sound helps with ringing in my ears and other things… oddly, one of the bowls I ended up with, I didn’t hear, but it was strange… unlike others I saw online, it’s either brass or brozen, definitely old, pitting and so on… one of the odd things… it was heavily engraved, not like the full moon ones or anything I have saw online… deep engraved, I noticed if I ring it in my hand, my hand hurts afterwards… like something is being sucked out of it, I still feel the vibration even now, how many heavily deep engraved bowls have you seen?
If "heavily engraved" you mean the ones that are carved all over like filigree, those are newly done. Some are carved on antiques, but the carving is new. If you mean it has pictures or writing all over it, those are also always new. I've documented the major types of antique engraving in my book The Singing Bowl Book and you can also see most types of antique engravings in the various categories at singingbowlmuseum.com
I agree, the six bowl set is amazing.
Yeah, the six bowls configuration works well. Of course you have the best perspective, but it sounds good with a headset.
They were food bowls .... Do you have any more this shape ? As I would be interested. You don't seem to be putting sets on the selling site
Its possible to know the price for the 2 bol set of this video. Thanks in advance
These sets will all be available at singingbowlmuseum.com once I get them recorded. This pair is among the most expensive and unique of all singing bowls. If you want to buy them before I get them on the website, feel free to send me an email.
Nice sound When i licence this sound my baby vry happy in my womb ❤
wonderful!
Surely the client could be offered some different large and expensive bowl, it seems worth insisting these be bought only as a set for cultural heritage/museum purposes alone, never mind the neat harmonies.
Yes she got something else and these will be kept together as a set.
Do you think this are made in India? I bought one from India, and it is very similar shape.
No they’re today more common but these are antiques and part of the longer singing bowl tradition.
@@singingbowlmuseum Ohh my mistake. I wanted to say “were” made in India? Mine also I bought it being old. It has also a dot type inscription.
Feel free to send me a picture and I may be able to tell you more about it.
Those higher tones are lovely 😍
They’re really amazing!
There a bit of sonic gap ( musical progression) between 5-6 and 8-9 but I think you should try to sell this as a set, as it is a unique character to the specificity of those types of bowls. I bet pricey, but worth trying to keep this as a set . Remarkable Set, Bravo 👏
Singing bowl sets are usually a bit goofy musically. It’s often hard to play them with other instruments, too. But there are a lot of tones to play with and the overall effect is wonderful.
Ohh thank you for this recording. I wish this set to join the very similar bowl that I have, which is one of my favorite. ua-cam.com/users/shortsLgS2DTbP3n8?si=l3QGWbnersQRZZn6
I totally agree with you about not cleaning a very old singing bowl. Some have a kind of dark green patina which is amazing, and I am sure that even if it will be cleaned that patina, the sound will not be much different. I think the sound of an antique singing bowl stays also in how the bowl aged during the years, and if the patina it builds nicely, it will contribute positively to the sound. From an antique singing bowl, I want to hear a mellow tone and not a crispy tone with the harmonics sounding too harsh. My cleaning method of the antique bowls it is very simple, some lemon juice mixed with sodium bycarbonate and maybe I will add some earth powder, like diatomaceaus earth, it is even finer like wood ash. And this I will use just to get off the green oxidation and maybe some layer of dirt or whatever it is that is not patina. But I can hear many recommendations about cleaning even the nice patina antique bowls because of the enhancement of the sound. ”Silence in sound” cleans all the bowls until they are very shiny. Personally, I prefer the antique bowls to have their own history ”written” on them and this is what makes them unique, the different colors of patina. And keeping this sign of antiquity, for me it is also a sign of respect and preserving a heritage in the most authentic way. And in the same time, using this instruments for their own sound and vibration.
thanks for sharing. I think it really depends on the bowl. The change to the sound due to patina is extremely small. The main change is not due to the surface but due to molecular changes in the metal as it ages. See my book, articles and other videos where I talk about that. The state of the metal changes over time. I agree the patina can slightly mellow the sound because the high harmonics are dampened when the surface is not cleaned. I know other dealers who not only clean the surface, but smooth the edges to make them smoother to rub. This is a huge mistake because so much of the history is about the rim of the bowl. If it's an antique, people should be careful with the surface. That's the main point.
I'm curious why you use lemon juice and sodium bicarbonate as they neutralize each other
@@halfknotsI didn’t asked myself and I don’t know what happens with them. I just noticed that are two good cleaning agents for green oxidation and they don’t affect the patina.
@@misteryofnada4660 lemon juice is acidic and sodium bicarbonate is basic. They foam up and neutralize each other, making a basically water and CO2 gas
the chemical reaction could have an effect but mostly the sodium is an abrasive agent. Basically any cleaning you are using an abrasive agent. A good bronze polish has enough fineness, like using finer sandpaper. It's just not easy to find anymore because there's not a lot of bronze anymore.
Watch your ears - there are some loud and high tones here!!!
The compare option on your website is truly valuable. I've been using it recently to make my purchase decisions with the last two bowls I've ordered to match them with those I already have.
Great - glad to hear that’s working for you.
It’s sounds so natural. Thanks for preserving these treasures and allowing a museum to display these to the public.
Thank you for your appreciation! They're actually all for sale at singingbowlmuseum.com
Thanks for finding out this history and sharing. Extremely interesting.
Thanks - glad you find it interesting. I think it's a very interesting piece of human history that was almost lost.

Thanks for doing this. Listing to all those bowls together was a unique experience. I am going to listen to this many times.

That set could be broken to two sets if you don’t need a match pair for every bowl.
There's actually 3 of every tone for a surround sound effect. It wouldn't have the same shimmer without the repeating pitches.
@@singingbowlmuseumarguably the most unique set in the world of singing bowls.
I wonder if it's the largest that can be all played together.
@@singingbowlmuseum Frank Perry from Uk has spiral sets ( 350 bowls altogether). I belive it’s either 5-6 sets. One got sold to one of my mentor on USA in late 2021, ( 70 Manipuri) which got broken down on many sets. I was ask first if I wanted it. My response was what I’m I gonna do with 70 Manipuris. Frank might have some largematch set, although I’m not sure how his spiral sets are arranged . But definitely your is totally Unique. Congratulations for setting that up🙏n

Hi Mr. Feinstein. Thank you so much for sharing your love, wisdom and knowledge about singing bowls. I’m learning so much from your videos and websites! I have actually selected some bowls from your website (himalayanbowls) and created my own set. Before I purchase the bowls I would love to hear your thoughts on them, and I also would like to ask you few questions. How could I reach you personally? Thank you and have a wonderful day! 😊

What dou you mean when you say antique?. They sounds really beuatiful. I would like to know what about the origin and of course, why others talks about 7 or 12 metals. Thank you so much. Blessings
Thanks - antique means over 100 years old. Most of mine are over 300 years old. This type of bowl has been made for 1,000 years and similar types of bronze bowls (not singing bowls) go back over 3,000 years. I tested hundreds of bowls of every type and there’s no such thing as seven metals. It’s just an internet myth that has stuck around for 20 years. Sorry about the microphone clipping - that's just in the recording, not the bowls.
I have a small collection of small, medium, and large modern hand hammered (not cast) bowls and this helps me to mix and match especially since just started adding the true antiques from your website! This definitely has men on the hunt for one of your antique Jambatis! I found I need an F or a G.

Do you have any particular method of taking care of the wooden striker? I am wondering if there is a certain cleaning oil that should be used in order to give my Wooden Striker a longer life? Also, any advice on maintenance for both; my Tibetan bowl as well as my Wooden Striker? Your comments are greatly appreciated. Peace, Love, Respect & Namaste
You can use a little oil on the wood to keep it from drying out too much. Lemon, linseed, walnut oil - pretty much any oil will work but wood oil is best. For bowl maintenance, it depends on the bowl. Most you don't need to do anything. New bowls shouldn't be cleaned if they have an applied color. Antiques can be gently cleaned with liquid soap. Anything else can scratch the surface / damage patina.
I bought a singing bowl once and now demons are in my walls. which bowl should I buy to remove them?

Call an exorcist, a monk or a feng shui master.
@@singingbowlmuseum haha thank you. Wait do Bhuddist monks really do exorcisms? Like if I ask around with Bhuddist temples would they be down to do it? I know it's kinda hard to find a Christian Priest that will do it so it's good to know I can rely on the Bhuddists as a back up.
Couldn’t agree more, nothing is definitive from the frequency perspective, frequency is how frequently, it’s a measure of a rate of something, either in hertz, bpm for music or rpm for engineering purposes. We see it every time, some sound mastery class with specific frequencies via bowls that will magically harmonize your liver, kidney, bla, bla, bla. It’s a pharmaceutical approach. People will jump on the bandwagon because it gives them certainty in what they don’t know about harmonization in a human being. A mechanical, prescriptive approach is very reductive in relation to what constitutes a being in relation to harmony, trauma. Protocol are alright if you want to work with bowls around a person, but it’s doesn’t fall in the fallacy of specific frequencies for this or that.
Well said, thanks. Really the relationship between the harmonics and the overall smooth feeling of the vibration are the most important factors. Great bowls have those qualities of excellent internal harmony and a great feeling. To me that's where the real magic is. Plus that inexplicable antique mojo. They're just great.
