Welcome to my dissertation defense presentation!
This presentation partially fulfills the requirements for Baylor's Doctor of Education program, which emphasizes Learning and Organizational Change. In this video, I will discuss the findings of my quantitative study on the relationship between secondary school teachers' perceptions of administrators' emotional intelligence and teachers' job stress, turnover intention, and job satisfaction, as mediated by their administrators' transformational leadership style.
Dissertation Title: A Quantitative Correlational Investigation Examining the Nexus: West Texas Secondary Teachers' Perspectives on Administrator Emotional Intelligence and Its Influence on Job Stress, Job Satisfaction, and Turnover Intentions
Statistical Tests: I used Pearson's r correlation coefficient for question 1, simple linear regression for questions 2 and 3, and the PROCESS Macro for IBM SPSS for question 4.

Super proud of you!
Thanks so much! 😁
Thanks Dominic!
You’re welcome, I hope it helps! 😄
This is a really clear tutorial, Dominic. Thank you. I'm wondering about DOI hyperlinks, though. Checking APA 7th guides, the DOI is meant to be a hyperlink and it is acceptable if the font is blue due to your word processor. I saw when you used the clipboard to create your reference list that this occurred nicely, but when you 'add Bibiography' from Zotero, the DOI is not a hyperlink. Do you know how to change this, so our DOI is a hyperlink when we add Bibliography from Zotero?
Great question! It depends on which way you add the bibliography to your paper. If you use the shortcuts (Ctrl + Shift + A or C) then it often does NOT add the hyperlink. But when you “right click” on the sources you want, select create reference, then bibliography it almost always puts the hyperlink to the DOI if one is available from the metadata of the PDF. It can always be manually added into the DOI box in Zotero if you find it later. The issue with this method is it often pastes the reference outside the width of the margins which is not aligned with APA, so you have to manually fix the formatting. I have not “yet” found a workaround.

oh my god. Im currently writing my dissertation, and thank you 100000000x for your simplified video. YAYYYY i feel so hopeful again
You're so welcome! You got this! 🔥😎
Thank You
Why did you choose an EdD versus the PhD?
Great question! My reasons: 1) a PhD is often more focused on developing you into a “researcher” as opposed to a practitioner. You help contribute to the current body of research and typically go into academia or acquire research appointments after. An EdD is more for those that will be practitioners (I created a YT short on this). 2) A typical PhD takes 4 years (if you’re going fast) 5 years on average, but could take up to 7 years to complete depending on field of study. My EdD program is fast tracked and takes only 3 years. **I will say that I have met multiple people that have BOTH an EdD and a PhD since you’re trained differently in both types of programs. They often acquire them from different institutions. This is something I’ve considered, IF I can continue to find ways to have my education paid for. Does that help? (I may make a YT video to explain in more detail, thanks for asking.)
Why you stopped making videos??..it helps smaller amount of the audience but it still helps..keep in mind never stop posting...we will all boom one day...with our consistency😊...we want you back ❤
Thank you for the kind words! I’m planning on it, need to make time. Need to sit down and just make a few that I’ve been wanting for a while. 😁
Thanks alot for the great video. Regarding the tuition, did you mean $10,500 per semester? Making it 31,500 for the 3 semesters (trimester)?
That is correct, the total program is just over $90,000. (At the time of this comment I believe the cost is $10,700 per trimester)
how about reading books on the book app? it's not practical to select the text every time manually, is there a way of doing that automatically?
Great question! At this time I have not found a workaround for this that is not more time consuming. It's a free method compared to popular apps out there. If I do find something I will definitely make an updated version of this! ♥️
Such a helpful video! Appreciate all the little tips.
Glad it was helpful!
Well said 🎉

Hi Dominic, I accidentally 'bumped' into this video and I want to express my happiness and appreciation of the simplicity of your presentation. Coincidentally, I am also doing an MA research in EI and mental health.
I'm glad it was helpful, that was my intent, “simplicity” because I hadn't found something myself so I decided to create it. That's wonderful, what will your study be looking at? What population of people?
I have an entire library using another platform. how do I import this library to zotero?
Good question, which platform did you use?
Hello. Thanks for the informative video. Can I import documents other than PDF?
Yes you can, however, you won’t have the metadata available in different documents so it might not auto populate the reference fields. They’ll at least be saved for you all in one place, you will just need to manually type author names, publication, date, issue, etc.
I love this......
I loved the tips and tricks! Thank you very much! I still have the question, how to implement websites into it, for example, newspaper articles? If you'd help me here it would be a lifesaver!!
If you utilize the etension for Zotero in Google or Safari (as shown in my video) I believe it allows you to cite the website. I've done it a few times myself, but I would recommend double checking the information it pulls as it may be off. It will get the majority of the information, you will just need to make minor amendments in the Zotero program to that specific citation. Hope that helps! ♥️
Thanks for a great video! Fellow Baylor doctoral student here just getting started this fall. Sic 'em!
That's awesome, best of luck during the program! 🐻
@@Dr.DomRamosextremely helpful video man. Thank you so much. I’m using zotero now! 🙏😊
Lol I’m binge watching your vids right now. I love how the videos for every trimester you review is so different with the background of your videos, with the plants and lighting, etc. 😅 Awesome!! Thank you, again, for sharing this information. It’s really helpful!🎉
Lol, I will let my wife know you like her plants. Thanks for the kind words.
These videos are great and super helpful! Thank you very much ☺️
You're so welcome! ♥️
Congrats! Currently in year two of the same program, I wish these were out when I started.
Same, I am in year two as well, Cohort 11. Got a little behind on the semester updates, but they're the videos I “needed” when going through the program. Best of luck to you! 👍🏻
Are you aware of how to share notes you take on documents with colleagues? Basically like a Google Doc where we can see notes taken by another peer
No, unfortunately I am not. I will definitely look into it now that you bring it to my attention, have not seen any updates where that was possible, but I may have missed it. Thanks!
Do you find that the members of your cohort are from various backgrounds vs. only from K-12?
Absolutely! Actually, the vast majority are “not” from K-12 which is great for live classes as we get differing views from those in a variety of sectors. **Some of my peers are from military, big pharma, sales, higher education, tech, and more. It’s quite diverse.
thank you very much! i demonstrate basic features of Zotero at my job, but i'm constantly learning something new, so your video was very helpful.
Great to hear!
New to Zotero! Thanks for the straight forward tutorial on how to implement this. I now have it up and running :)
Glad it helped!
Hi, thanks so much for the useful video here. I am using Zotero but found one limitation in it. i.e., we cannot cite any code books (building standard code books which don't possess any authors as such) downloaded/dropped into the Zotero library. Could you please correct me if I'm wrong at this point?
That’s a good question, if it doesn’t auto populate then (to my knowledge) the text does not have metadata to fill out the desired fields. I do run into this issue from time-to-time with seminal older works, and unfortunately it’s just one of those instances where you have to self-populate the fields. For citation reference I go to OwlPurdue and look up the proper citation mechanics. Hope that helps!
Bro the next thing is your volume level is very low and that added to my frustration.
This video has been played in both small and large classrooms, and from mobile devices without issue. I do apologize for your specific experience, you may wish to check your device settings to improve the output. I do use high-quality Rode mics during recording to ensure this is a non-issue for viewers such as yourself. Thanks again for your feedback, much appreciated. 😉
@@Dr.DomRamos Ok I understand. My Asus volume was on 100%. Thanks for the response.
I watched this whole video in frustration as with other videos because no one is showing how to cite a paragraph within a paper.
Sorry to hear that, but this is a video on how to “get started” with Zotero. That's a much more nuanced citation question, so I'm sorry you didn't get what you were looking for. However, hope this helps, this is the APA guidelines for text longer than 40 words: “Quotations longer than 40 words should be formatted as block quotations. Indent the entire passage half an inch and present the passage without quotation marks. Any relevant page numbers should follow the concluding punctuation mark. If the author and/or date are not referenced in the text, as they are here, place them in the parenthetical that follows the quotation along with the page numbers.” Happy referencing! -hope I was able to help. 👍🏻😁
@@Dr.DomRamos Ok I will try it. I have to use Cite it right harvard style
@@Dr.DomRamos The issue is how to cite orher works within a paper other than the main authors of a paper. Zotero only allows to cite the main paper authors. Maybe I am wrong and hence I am seeking solutions. Will try what you suggested
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you so much for that
You are very welcome! 😉
Hi Dominic, I would like to reach out to you. I want to redo my reference list. How can I do that without have to go back to each citation?
Hello there! I would love to help. However, I’m not sure I understand your question; what do you mean by “you want to redo your list?” Are your references already in Zotero? Or do you have them saved elsewhere?
Hi Dominic, this is very helpful! I'm elated to see that your field of study is education. I'm currently doing a Master of Education (post secondary studies) and would like to learn more from you. Most UA-camrs unfortunately have content based on science research for the most part.
So glad you found it helpful! You’re right; many are in the sciences and rarely share qualitative or mixed-method research styles. I’ve been fortunate to be in both, so I figured I’d share a few tips that hopefully help someone. 😁
@@Dr.DomRamos I'm positive it will help many in my situation. One suggestion for your next video could be: researching papers in the field of education and quick tips to detect important parts of these papers 🙏😊
I’m sure I can put something together, thanks for the video idea 💡
Wow! Thanks for this!!!
No problem! 😎
Hi! Just starting my first research position after undergrad and this was super helpful, thank you so much!!!

Very clear and easy to follow, thanks 👍
So glad it was helpful! You’re welcome. 🤓
Zotero is awesome. I love their iPad app so much, helps me read papers anywhere I want, also syncs my annotations
I agree. It has made my workflow much more manageable. I often read from my phone as well if I'm traveling or waiting in lines.
Fantastic resource! This is a great introduction to Zotero and the clear and slow cadence of your voice makes it easy for me to share it with researchers who I'm teaching scientific writing to in Africa. Thank you!
So happy it’s helping you! This is the video I needed when I was learning Zotero. Crazy to think that it’s being watched in places like Africa. Best of luck! 👍🏼
thanks!

Thanks so much, appreciate you taking the time to comment. 😁
Thank you so much for this informative tutorial! This is what I have been looking for.
