Faux-jave Capable - Motor & Axle swap.
Переглядів 874 місяці тому
Changed the motor from 20turn to 45turn. Looked at the rear ring/pinion gears, though they were a bit eaten up, I shimmed it and the gears didn't seem to skip so I put them back on. Before on these size batteries I may have gotten 20 minutes of run time. This run was 40 minutes, and never seemed to get hot or loss power while full throttling. I believe I've got a 55turn motor around somewhere, ...
Faux-jave Capable Test

Another quick test with the ar44 axles and the new front mounted transmission. First test, ended in what I thought was a dead battery. This test was with a fully charged 3s 1800mah lipo. Both times the truck just stopped, this time the esc and motor were extremely hot. I think it went into overheat protection, so something has to change. Will try a higher turn motor first, but will probably end...

Another Amazon transmission, front mount, with transfer case. Though it is heavy, it's much lighter than the other. This will become the Faux-jave "Performance" truck. Blew out the rear end gears of the Amazon Yota axles, so swapped in some ar44's with 20% overdrive. Need to add a panhard bar as the front axle sways left and right under the frame.

Fixed the steering link, rear differential cable, used the correct size rear links in straight brass, replaced plastic diff lock servo mount with an aluminum version. The body mounting is still a bit primitive. 2 magnet mounts on front, rear is cut a bit to allow the body post rail to protrude past the "bed" of the interior and be pulled forward a bit to lock in place when the magnets align.

After the rain, adding more mud, sticks, and stone to the clay mountain. Decided to knock the dust off the cantilever home brew. Just took some time rollin' in the mud, trying to see some lines to try and build up. Eventually it should turn into a small 3-5 minute course.
Faux-jave II - Second & Third layer of paint.
Переглядів 1085 місяців тому
While adding the next layers of paint I decided to swap out the Hot Racing LCG transmission for an Axial 3 gear transmission. It did add to the overall max speed, but the weight of the truck on any incline was a bid much to allow good "hold" and not roll down hill. I believe I've had that particular AE5 for roughly 6-7 years. Used to basic test most builds. I suppose the combination of the truc...

1st construction used too long rear links and broke the diff locking cable. Replaced rear links with shorter brass links, and replaced cable. Put the Jeep body on to check wheel base and does seem to look right. Will eventually figure out a proper way to mount the body, for now though seems ok.
Inexpensive GSpeed build

Built this up before the ankle break, did get to run it in rougher terrain a few times. Then began to rob it for other builds. Minus the radio/receiver and battery, build cost was around $350. Awesome rig. What motor and ESC are you using? Im running a cheap 9imod outrunner with a Castle Sidewinder 4, on a SCX10.3 LCG chassis using a 3 gear trans. But mine sounds so much more harsh. Your sounds nice and smooth. 👍🏾🔥

      Amazon off brand, HobbyStar 1250kv motor (Out runner RC plane motor) Castle Micro 2, BEC wired direct power to servo 5.5v 2amp, Amazon aluminum 3gear SCX10 transmission (originally all steel gears/replaced spur and pinion with plastic mod1 Redcat spur and metal Redcat pinion.) Amazon 45kg (7volt max servo). AR45 Straight axles, using the front links and shocks from that kit. I was using a 3s 45c 1300mah battery. Think either the servo is still to much for the system, or was a poor soldering job on my part. Servo seems to glitch at times. Guessing the truck's weight to be 5 pounds or under.

    Thinking of picking these up. Do they narrow the track width by any amount? I want to narrow my Capra up but I’m unsure if these will suck the offset in enough.

    • @dublintwentyfour7163
      @dublintwentyfour7163 Місяць тому

      Don't think they will fit Capra axles for what you're trying to do. Wouldn't just buy them without a back up for them. It does use standard interchangeable offsets, so you could make it wider. Going to thinner stance will probably interfere with the portal/wheel clearance.

    • @dublintwentyfour7163
      @dublintwentyfour7163 5 місяців тому

      It was the wire of the motor to esc, pinched across a sharp edge of the motor can. Motor got hot enough to melt the wires. I suppose somehow the signal for "reverse" received some voltage. That was the only damage I saw, now seems to work fine. But I did change the esc in the truck to the ISDT90.

    Hello, this injora trx4 clone have torque twist? Worthed to buy??

    • @dublintwentyfour7163
      @dublintwentyfour7163 Рік тому

      It does have a little bit of twist, I can not directly compare both items. Do I think it's worth it..... Hell yes! I have been overwhelmed by cost vs performance. As it sits right now, it cost as much as an RTR TRX4 Sport. It performs, only in comparison with videos I've seen, as well or better than an decked out TRX4, with all the features. When I started that build, I only wanted to see if the $100 frame with the forward mounted motor and low setting mid battery would be a good start on weight distribution. Then it became wanting to build a TRX4, on a budget. Then it became a beast of a crawler and I didn't so much worry about the cost, just improve performance with Injora parts. If you like the idea, check out Exocaged RC. He has posted a recent video of the new complete kit, as it comes to you. Bashed it for a video, then put a brushless system in it for a second video. If you're thinking about picking one up, watch his vids, that will answer your question 😁

  • @dublintwentyfour7163
    @dublintwentyfour7163 Рік тому

    Though that setup is fantastic, it isn't exactly what I'm trying to do. I wasn't looking for more speed, just thought the 120amp 2850kv would have the juice to push the truck and not get to hot. Now I love me some 1080, but the truck weighs probably 15 pounds (in this vid). The 1080 and motor got to hot through the axial 3 gear, the reversed and straight trans, and the hit racing LCG trans. The noise was also a problem, this is going to be my trail crawler, when finished I'm guessing it's going to weigh 17-20 pounds..... I know, dumb idea.....

      Was like $25 for eight of those little pods. Then direct power from 12v battery. Can hook up straight to ESC batter wire as long as you run 3s on the truck. It's pretty simple to set up, but you don't want to run too many. Amp draw is multiplied by each left (I think) So 1 LED bulb drawing 12 volts at say 0.02 amps, turns into 10 LED bulbs pulling 12volts at 0.2 amps. Those on that truck are just twisted together and heat shrunk, so I can take them off and run in a different truck if I choose. May do a vid showing different lights, those two types are the most simple to work with, and pretty much waterproof. I have had other that are brighter still 😁 those take a little work.

      It seems to do ok. My slap the ar45 kit on it. 100mm shocks so will raise it up some. My other idea is to use the Axial 3 gear transmission put dual motors 17 or 21 turn, and use the heavy portals with the zero reduction portal gears. Those axles seem to produce a lot of amps so generally only use 550 can motors. But dual 540's low turn small pinion, could be ok.

      Thanks, crawling is pretty much all I've done with the trucks. Even when I bought the Element Trail walker, first thing I did was take those 1.55 tires to the rocks 🤣 it didn't do that great, but I still had a good time.

      Thanks! Was thinking about getting another vid today. Slapped a body on it, taped the holes, think it's time to hit the ruts 😁

      Got an hour and a half of footage down to 28 minutes, accidentally deleted the edit. Another 3 hours of editing got it down to 22 minutes. Yay! Finally got it done, still messed up a little..... No intro screen, and some of the fast forward stuff wasn't muted. Will get it down one of these days 😁

    It's just a little muddy, lol

      Only slightly. Should see some TTC (Tough Truck Competition) footage. People walking 3 feet into knee deep soup to retrieve a truck that now weighs an extra 5 pound because of all the extra mud....can't wait to go 😁

      Thanks for checking it out! First time using a video editor, still figuring things out. Kinda glitchy but sync's with music every now and again. That luck happen-stance 🤣 Think I'm going to have fun with editing, watch for more!

    Does this esc free wheel when you modulate throttle on declines?

      Well it's a castle creations system Mamba X, I have it set in a crawler mode 100% drag brake. You can set it for 0% which will have no braking, or whatever percentage you want to allow for some freewheeling. It would then just depend on how heavy the truck is as to how fast it rolls down a slope. You can get some setting features with simple remote control programing through trigger pulls, or more advanced setting through the computer and castle link connection. This particular one was not that cheap, run around $200-$250 but I on a personal note do think it's worth the cost, as other sensored brushless setups can be most costly and allow for less features.
