How much do you need in dividends to replace your work income?

How much do you need in dividends to replace your work income?
Also, when they figure the cap, they are figuring in the dividend also So the answer is yes, if you were comparing the total return, including the dividend They also have these for six months at a time and a few companies have them for two years at a time as well The idea is not to have all your money in these, but rather money that you do not want to risk. They pay much more than a money market fund if you hold it for the entire duration. Other companies also have different products that have different buffers, such as 9% or 15% or 30% And they each have a different cap. The common cap is between 12 and 20% depending upon the amount of the buffer. It’s a great way to be in the market without the entire risk of the market
I use these that lot and they are wonderful alternative to any cash products and they work great
They REBALANCE monthly. That is they bring each of the tickers back to 20% each month. Each QUARTER, they reconstitute the holdings. Year End is the end of the quarter. They don’t reconstitute monthly. Only quarterly. At least, that’s how I read it.
I would like to think so like Rex Shares does but this does not seem to be implied on the Verbiage of the current version of the perspectus. Tale another look.... This is what I see... "Rebalancing and Reconstitution The Index is rebalanced three business days before the last trading day of each month. Rebalancing adjusts the weightings of the existing Index Constituents to maintain the Index’s intended structure. At each rebalance, each Underlying Security represents about 8% of the Fund’s portfolio, and the five corresponding YieldMax™ ETFs each represent approximately 12% of the Fund’s portfolio. Reconstitution, which involves replacing Index Constituents, also occurs at this time...." Same time! Meaning can also be monthly. This is what I am seeing.
@ maybe I got the Rex shares methodology mixed up in my mind. Anyway, it doesn’t really matter to me. If they can keep only the hot tickers in the fund, that’s fine with me!
I think NVDA is going to drop to $100 before going back up. So CONY might be better for now.
Interesting
stock market correcting if thats the case, nvda is in every fund pretty much
My problem is Kurv is will it gain traction Like it’s aum for most is like $5m with less than 10k in units traded a day Kinda sketch
The AUM in KURV is really low, considering their funds launched over a year ago. This is concerning if they will be sustainable.
@ it’s unfortunate because it seems good But sadly it seems there’s no inbetween with yield funds People either are safe with JepQ or risky and go yieldmax for max returns
Very informative video! Thanks How do you feel about FIVY and FEAT having a 100% margin maintenance requirement? Would you wait to get in or buy now?
@ your in an margin account ?
Yieldmax starting to disappoint me after 6 months
Yes, also noticed last week that they replaced NVDY with CONY in FEAT. I was under the impression that the swapping of underlyings wouldn't happen that often so now wondering if this will be a more regular occurrence?
I was also surprised that it occurred within a couple of weeks of launching. Although, per the perspectus, they are permitted to do so each month, I did not anticipate it happening so quickly.
fivy and kqqq are using very similar strategies. they both have a ratio of long stock positions and their own covered call funds. the difference is yieldmax is using dorsey wright and locked in to that 60/40 ratio. kqqq is using their own discretion to add long stock, sell calls against them, and add their own cc funds to the etf's portfolio. kqqq is doing great so far outperforming qqq and all the nasdaq cc funds. i grabbed some fivy as well.
I did notice that KQQQ does it's own thing. I have been looking at it here and there. Perhaps it's interesting to see how FIVY vs KQQQ do over time.
When they went weekly I started buying. Still buying on down days.
Seeking Alpha calculates Total Return, but does not calculate it as if it reinvested the dividends. Just be aware of that when you are comparing back to an index (or something like QQQ that hardly pays any dividend -all gains are retained in the NAV and not paid out).
I'm aware. Thank you!
Divvies are down to $.13/ share but thats still good! I see a great future for Yield Max and most of its ETFs. MSTY is also fire riding on the back of Microstrategy. Go Yieldmax!!! 🙌
$0.24 today. The way I look at it is like this. If you payed $18/share and you get on average at least $0.18/week that's 1% per week and there are 52 weeks in the year so you should be in track for about 52% per years.
I’m trying to figure out how Tspy is down this month.
The entire market went down a bit last week.
Adding in the 9s. They shouldn’t be trading if they can’t make money in options in this volatile market. Earn that expense ratio Jay!
Agreed!
Thanks. Love your focus on Total Returns. Your channel and videos deserve more views!!! Looking forward to the next Group D total return video!
I'm glad you found it valuable. I did a 4 week cycle only at this time and started with group D.
More proof that the underlying stock will beat the synthetic long term
The underlying does not have any capped upside.
Bought YBTC today on the 94k btc dip. Excellent video thanks.
Likewise! You're welcome!
You would do well by reviewing Oracle’s core compounding manifesto He advises buying back in at a deeper red. So it’s not a rip at 5 bucks up and a reinvest at 5 bucks down
Hi you saw yieldboost funds come out. I have target to get 4k a month by the end of the year of 2024 i make 3300$ now. I use all my profit+ max margin+ the hihsest yield and most agreesive etf now. This is my main goal now to make 50k a year from option premiums.
instead of percentages i looked at fivy holdings and took total shares of each and made an estimate shares of each; tsly 9.4 fby 7.8 nfly 7.7 nvdy 5.6 and msty 3.4 in october24 the payout would have been $39.36 just on yieldmax etfs. seems like they are stacking their own funds and collecting expenses. i would like to know the total shares they hold for ymax, ymag, and now feat, and fivy. you made a good point on double or triple exposure to the same fund. i like the fivy strategy when it actually holds the underlying security. there is my $0.02 😁
I greatly appreciated your input! Thank you!
Its a lettuce fund
Lol! Yes, sir!
I bought 50 shares of each today. We'll see how it goes!!! 😬
Nice! Let's see how this experiment pans out!
Still think you can pick 2 from each group and build your own better then paying them to pick stocks that might not be right ones for you. I also agree that due to how they may or may not reconstitute could hurt you. I say pick your own using the tools that are available and manage it yourself. Great thoughts!
Thank you! I forgot to mention that doing it yourself, you can fine tune when you buy in (say, for example, on the ex dividend date) and have more control over your cost basis.
@@theworkinginvestor 100% set up a dedicated account manage it yourself. Hold the underlying or not pick and choose the funds. Don't let other people control it. You can even just duplicate what they hold if you want.
people are lazy so figuring out which 5 plus buying and selling if need be has consequences so just let the ETF do everything
@cashoption2319 I find a use for possibly FIVY for the lower cost basis and rebalanced with equity. For FEAT, I self managing my own version. I'll pay myself the 29 basis points.
@@theworkinginvestorfair enough A lot of us have opinions on ymax, it has losers in it like Mrny Wish they’d cut the losers Feat seems like the best best thing, not exactly built to be stable But if it’s picking the current winners , it should generate good distributions I was gonna put 60k in ymax but if feat gives better yield it might be an even better play
Mstu treated me well in Nov. Right now I'm waiting for MSTR to break 412.35 then I'm buying MSTU short hold.
Looking forward to watching them manage this. Kqqq is doing similar. They will add in more or less of the covered call fund based on their discretion.
You didn’t includes any dividends coming from the CC funds … fo the first part of your video… with the high yield funds, you can’t only look at the price charts
I actually had web pages open with the total return comparison. I wanted to double down on the emphasis of my point of the whipsaw effect and mitigation. Hence, for brevity, I skipped them. You are correct that the dividends need to be factored in for total return.
1. I have been doing 25% leverage, 75% yield max. An example could be:: MSFU. MSFY. Screens: RSI, 1 Mo Change, 1 Mo Return. If the screens are positive continue to invest. If the screens turn negative go to a different pair of funds.
Very interesting way to play it. Thank you for sharing!
Also, I think it kind of depends on the funds and their underlying assets. I also think the staff at Yieldmax does a better job with certain funds. For instance, over the last year, SQY currently has a better total return than SQ and PYPY has a better total return than PYPL.
I do agree. Some if the funds outperformed the underlying when I checked varying time frames. Some underperformed significantly relative to the underlying and some captures around 75%. Realistically, I wouldn't expect the covered call fund to necessarily capture 100% of the underlying, but when they do it's very impressive!
Also, covered call strategies are supposed to trade flat. Their supposed to maintain NAV stability by capturing some upside through options, collect income through options, but also follow 1:1 downside like the underlying. Buying a put to sell the underlying at cost would be good.
It's similar to forming your own collar. (Using the covered call dividends to buy the protective put)
Owning the underlying and having a covered put as a stoploss is a good idea for these funds. Sure, the cost to maintain a put would be a setback, but its insurance; its not supposed to be used.
Oh yes! Protective puts! I was looking into that a while back at ULTY and others but the expiration dates were only a couple months out. It's cheaper per day if you buy in bulk aka 1+ year out (less theta decay) Great idea. Thank you for bringing this up!
When I refer to the risks of the covered/synthetic call strategy, I am referring to "relative" risk compared to owning the underlying outright. Of course, if the underlying goes bad, this downside risk is also encompassed within the covered call/synthetic covered call counterpart.
this is a great addition to the new legacy etf, lets go guys thanks for the update and check my page for awesome BTC MUSIC
With YBTC going to weekly this rounds out my smaller account, which is comprised of weekly paying synthetic funds based on indexes and pretty little overlap: I have equal weight in this portfolio YMAX, YMAG, QDTE, RDTE, YBTC giving me an average annual yield of 45%. My other main portfolio I only have ETFs that actually hold the underlying holdings, SPYT, ITWO, BTCI, ULTY, AIPI
I like the way you are very intentional about the weighting, the overlap, and the average yield and If the underlying holds the actual stock or not. It seems very thought out. Thank you for sharing!
@ after further thought today I swapped the QDTE for XDTE, I felt it was a little too tech heavy with already having the mag 7 so I think swapping QDTE for XDTE make it overall more balanced and the average yield is still a solid 40%
I just dont get how this fund should struggle ? It has all the options strategy, amazing diversity ,markets are in a tear half of the fund is crypto based and we are now in the biggest bull run record highs of bitcoin and it paid only 70 cents and the nav still hasnt recovered it makes no sense , im not sure what to buy next i have 5000 shares of ulty should i buy more or go for cony or msty? which are killing it , both are in ulty as well yet ,, , im confused
I hear you loud and clear. I also was a bit unhappy with the fund not coming back to around 10.68 or at least $10.50 prior to last ex dividend given the market conditions. Jay mentioned in a recent interview that the managers place in some loss mitigation such as collars. I imagine this can cost some of the premium and / or upside, I imagine. He also made a good point about implied volatility that has decreased recently relatively. There is a different risk to reward profile for going into the more strictly synthetic covered call/call credit spreads to this. All said, a 90+% is not bad as well imo granted if the funds remains within a range. There is nothing that I know out there to compare this to. I'm still planning on buying more shares today. We'll see next month. 😏
7:40 funny msty on about 262shares I was up $4300 . I see all the rip the profit videos but I'm not on that style of trading
I don't knot what's giax or aipi but the rest your PORTFOLIO LOOKING great 👍🏻👍🏻 qdte and rdte ⭐ . .. I'd use minimum $20,000 more margin and just let the dividends pay it self... Or you about $8500 a month id margin it to get $10,000 and use $2000/$4000 to pay it and the rest to reinvest but u know what's best for u 👌🏿
At times like right now when the market is topping and we have officially entered clown market , I sell all my income ETF's and start selling my own monthly cash secured puts on TNA TQQQ and UPRO. I sell these 30-45 DTE @ around .20-.25 delta close @ 50-70% profit. If market tanks and my put gets breached I either take assignment or roll further ahead knowing that even if I get assigned I'll have a better cost basis than if I was in something like SPYI at the top. Once markets drop and we are trading at value prices I will get back into Income ETF's at good prices.
Another great video,thanks
You bet!
Just got into ULTY. I believe YM has figured it out. It will recover the NAV. Next couple of payouts. 3000 shares @ 10.19 Last Friday. I'll turn of the drip, and just let it ride.
I hope so. The good thing I like about drip is that it pretty much buys it within a day or so from the ex dividend date depending on your broker. It automates it without thinking about it.
Good portfolio and good strategy. You should succeed. Well done!
Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I Love Ulty due to diversity and changes depends on market conditions (I suppose that). I have 1500 shares correspond to 45% of my portfolio
I think the only way to play ULTY is to buy on the ex div date If you would’ve bought on each of the last three extra dates in September, your average price would be $10 so you would be slightly up on your position and you would’ve collected two distributions already
Agreed. The ex dividend date is an oppurtunistic time. It helps keep my yield on cost close to the yield or hopefully better.
I think this is better then SCHD. My math shows that SCHD with drip 100,000 investment would be in n10 years 188,009, BIGY 100,000 with drip on is 382,474. SCHD has such a low div and I just purchased a ton of SCHD. I think i will watch BIGY and may get rid of SCHD and put BIGY as one of my grandpa funds!!
They seem very promising but need to be battle tested with up/down market cycles. SCHD might as well be called SCLD (L for Low). It used to be the high yielder on the block, but now, with the option based etfs, it relatively does not seem so. It gives me the impression of a value play that can have a use case to some investors.
@@theworkinginvestor I really need to see some data on BIGY, but if it can pull off a strong capitol growth and 12 percent div i am going to be pouring money into this bad boy and will 100 percent drip, imagine in 20 years!
Why ULTY no go up?
Lol! That would be great!
Thanks, yes ULTY has improved its performance and I'm rooting for it, but unfortunately it looks like it is still not able to recover from its latest payout. It closed on Nov 13 at $10.68 and payed out $0.83 but so far it has only recovered around 35 percent of that distribution and with only two more sessions until ex div date it doesn't look like it will make it. 😒
100% return is crazy. It's a recipe for huge loss of nav and reverse splits. Would be interesting if someone created one that retains minimum nav. They already decide the payout so why not use some of the profit (or lack theroff) to retain stable nav in net negative months?
Agreed! I'm kind of playing it by ear and leggings my way in if they keep proving themselves. I do wish they would recover a bit more. Say 80% would be a nice start imo.
JOB = Just Over Broke 😆
I was wondering where the A came from 😊
