How to Spool a Spinning Reel with Braid and NO TWIST
Переглядів 457Рік тому
Spooling a spinning reel up with braided fishing line can be done a few different ways but if you don't do it just right you will get twist in the line and that causes wind knots and bird's nests. This simple method lowers line twist and works well with braid. Don't go with the label up or label down method. When Anglers Journal magazine launched in 2014, the goal was simple: To create a public...

So many incredible little details that so many tyers miss. Met him and Lefty at the TFO booth in Denver 15 yrs ago. Both great guys. Bob told a funny story that he was doing a demo at a show on this fly and a very determined young man kept telling him he was doing it wrong. He knew because he had just learned how to tie this fly in his fly tying club the week before. Needless to say they all had a great laugh....WITH the kid, when the kid's buddies told him who he was talking to.

I saw him tie a few years ago. I started moving the led eye further down the shank like he does. Now my clousers glide and sink more evenly and not in a nose first jigging motion.

Brilliant. A classic. Still works today. I was using a Marryat reel and caught a large fish. A fisherman came over and asked tosee the fly. After looking at the fly he noticed the reel and said "that was a good reel in its day." Out of my smart moouth popped - "Good thing the fish don't know what year this is." Same for the Clouser Minnow - a classic that works. I like it in yellow slow and deep for Fall run Brown Trout. Thanks for the tying instructions.
