I'm reposting my favorite video from my old channel. I went to Ibaraki Prefecture. This was made in February 2023, so the attractive prefecture rankings will be based on the one in 2022. Because I took more time editing more in the past, this video will be shorter than usual. My videos here will mostly be on the longer, chill side! Woah living next to those crossings beeping nonstop must drive people crazy
God i like trains Like DAMN i love trains Trains are so damn cool I gonna bring a nice camera to japan next time and will spend like a whole day just filming trains
whats the point of this crossing? and why is it closing anyway
you should go to the one in Kyoto, just go early in the morning and it won't be busy.
If you have small boat you can leave it.
do japan use meter gauge or borad gauge?
1.067mm mostly
Another destination on my ToDo list when I visit Tokyo later this year. Thank you.
I like trains.
Great Video! Very interesting! 👏🏻
Level crossing speed run Japan%
6:02 That is the JR Feight's EF210 electric locomotive.
It's pretty cool from a train nerd perspective but it must be pretty stressful for the train drivers, especially when older (slower) people are crossing. In Melbourne where I'm from there are 2 train crossings that also cross with trams. Very cool.
Idea: Go to a train station when Dr. Yellow arrives, there will be a TON of people on the platform and it's pretty fun.
Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a crossing in the US, at least outside a train yard
Crossy Road!
funnily enough I used to commute to a place just one or two stations from there... there was a Sempai-group in Nishi-Agano, where we would discuss Celtic European Politics with 2nd/3rd course students doing related studies... most of my life was deeper in the city, so I would go there like a couple of times a week, but the area always left me with a very spiritual impression, especially when I would return back to the station deep in the night when no-one was around, only the rustling of forest creatures and the wind. once even saw a small group of Inoshishi cross the tracks, it gets that wild there, also, if you see a little self-serve vegetable store, the area has some of the tastiest Wasabi, Nagaimo and such, as you will find anywhere within a days ride from Tokyo.
Wow awesome video dude
Eyyy welcome welcomes!
there is one more similar crossing on the Tokyo Network (interestingly crossing many of thesame lines). it's roughly half-way between Oji and Higashi-Jujo on the Keihin Tohoku line, crossing the Takasaki, Shonan Shinjuku, Yokosuka, Omiya bound Express and Tohoku freight tracks... never saw it being used during the day, though I and many others used it late in the night to get back from the local Izakaya quarter to the large apartment complex's on the other side of the track... much faster and easier than climbing all the way up to the bridge (a steep climb of maybe 200 steps)
i hope this video won't go viral this shrine is so nice when it's chill
It's funny (and sad) to me that you say that this place is very loud, because here in the US there are commonly freeways even wider than this cutting through our cities that are even louder at all times of day. Just goes to show how far behind the US is compared to Japan and the rest of the world when it comes to public transit.
Why gods don´t like pull ups ? :D +
I drove around there. Next to the JR East Shinkoyasu Substation, there's a 8 tracks crossing for cars split 6 and 2 tracks. It is so nerve racking. Between the parts, there are a road and houses! I didn't know there was a 10 tracks section for pedestrian.
Interesting and fun to see!
Very interesting
My word…….10 tracks…..unbelievable!
I have watched almost all of your video Keep up the good work This is honestly one of the most easy to watch channels I know And thanks for the natural content :)
Looks pretty interesting. Thanks for showing this off. Hopefully it is replaced soon for the bikers. I would hate to get stuck there in the morning unable to cross.
was the street built first or the rails? i don't think they had 8 tracks when they first built them
I’m definitely keeping an eye out for your channel, saving each and every video so the next time I’m in Japan (~3 years ig) I have a bucket list of things to visit already. Love your channel, especially the bullet point you add at the start. All the best for your growth!
wtf bro, I watched this when it had less than 3k views, I come back and now it has almost 400k views. You have been blessed by the algorithm bro 😂😂😂
I'll put it on the list for the next trip! Thanks.
Sounds good! Thanks for watching :)
have you tried the chuo line green cars yet? iirc they won’t charge you the green car fee until march 14th (when the 2025 train schedule takes into effect.)
Wow, I'm actually planning to try it soon haha Hope you look forward to the video!
1:23 there's an IC card that you sign up for called taspo, that requires age verification and such.
0:51 shrine and local business websites are usually like that in Japan 😅
I like your presentation style
Thank you!
The fact that the crossing exists in the first place is nuts.
Forreal
Have you gone to the widest one?
I have no idea where the widest one is haha
Your bite-sized videos are such a treat to watch! Always looking forward for more!
That's good to hear :) Thanks for watching!
That is really interesting and cool to see. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for watching!!
That Sotetsu train at 1:39 (Sotetsu 12000 series) is about to enter the Sotetsu Line. That train had originally ran on the Shonan-Shinjuku Line before leaving the Shonan-Shinjuku Line tracks at Musashi-Kosugi to head to the Sotetsu Line, going to Ebina. Japanese railways are so complicated... but because I have been a massive fan since my first visit in November 2023, I knew all of these now. That freight line is the Musashino Freight Line.
So that's why it's called JR/Sotetsu Line on the map!
That freight line is Tokaido Freight Line. Sotetsu-through-service and Freight trains running on Tokaido Freight line share same railways between Tsurumi ~ Yokohama-Hazawa freight station. Sotetsu trains branches inside Yokohama-Hazawa freight Station, heading into Hazawa-Yokohama-Kokudai Station. Freight trains return to Tokaido line at Higashi-Totsuka Station. Man, Sotetsu line is really complicated...
In Austria, you would not be allowed to build something like that.
Fair enough, it's not safe haha
In the German city of Karlsruhe, there is a train station you can't even get into. It is a terminus, and before reaching it, the train stops so they can check whether all passengers have permission to access the area. If you don't, you are just thrown out of the train (which is kinda far away from everything else in the middle of a forest)
Also, Kokudou station of the Tsurumi line just to the east of this crossing is very atmospheric and, as I've read, still carries bullet marks from one of the WWII bombing raids.
I actually went to the station in my past video! I didn't know about that bullet mark thing til someone mentioned it in the comments.
this does not look safe. I am surprised they do not put an elevator at the bridge to make it possible to cross with bicycles, prams, wheelchairs etc.
they have an elevator for pedestrians!
