The completed Pac Man video game project for the TI99/4a. Program was written in TI Extended Basic using the TiCoded editor. This clip shows the speed difference between level 8 and level 9. The game mysteriously goes into overdrive on level 9, though there are no programmatic reasons for it to do this. It may be an issue with the Classic99 emulator. Decided to try a new direction for the SW game - more of a first person, cockpit view like the original STARWARS Arcade. Gonna have TIEs and probably asteroids, maybe Vader's TIE Avenger if there's enough memory.

TI99 TETRIS HOMEBREW For 1 or 2 PLAYER
i think the overdrive is cool, makes it similar to its arcade counterpart
This is a very nice port for TI99, I like it! A fine addition to my FinalGrom 👍
A nice looking PacMan clone for the TI-99/4a. I'm going to download a copy now and give it a go too.
Sounds amazing, and you could not have picked a better song!
Download available at TIGameshelf: www.tigameshelf.net/xb.htm
Ohhh! I want this! I’d it available? Very cool concept and execution!
It can be downloaded from GitHub here: github.com/CheungChang7/TI99_HOMEBREW/blob/main/TCAN/TCAN_8.bin
It is, the download locations are available in the description.
Sounds nice
That sounds great!
@@BonesFPV I thought it would be really good for a retro game.
Looking good!
Now running on my TI-99/4A with the TI Joysticks. Great work...
@@RoyAntaw Have you made it to level 9 yet? We're wondering if it speeds up on real hardware like it does on all the emulators.
this looks neat. i just added a ti-99/4a to my collection. how would i go about making a cartridge?
@@tomkinsg your best bet would be to go to the ArcadeShopper shmeb schmite and purchase a FinalGrom, you could then add almost all the TI software to it and play it on your real TI99. If you don't already have a disk system, you could also get a TIPI or another aftermarket device that allows you to simulate the TI PEB and drives. ArcadeShopper has asked me if he could distribute this game as a cartridge on his site and I gave him permission to. Be sure to let him know you would be interested in such a cartridge - don't know how long it would take him to make this available - it's only come up a couple of days ago. He has a page on Schmace Schmook and is active in all the main TI forums and on AtariAge. The DSK image also has the game object code on it.
I'll have carts soon I also have final grom 99 as well
Really epic ! Is this computer playable ?
@@user-TPBO it is, it runs on a real TI99/4A as well as the emulators.
That’s just bloody awesome!
Very cool
Very impressive. Is this programmed within the native 16k of memory? ( might be 14k for XB ). Overall it's amazing the speed you get once compiled.
@@imaxjunior6531 no, it took almost all of the 24K allowed for an XB program before it was compiled and afterwards it was about 29K
Great job, when I get my TI back from repair I'll be giving this one a go👍
link for download is in the description
Holy crap that’s insane! Never thought XB could do this… subbed so I can see more!
Should be out in a few days. I'll leave a link for the download in the next video.
Nice! Seems pretty speedy for a Ti Extended Basic game.
It's compiled XB
nice work!
Looks good !
Great job so far. I wish I had the dedication to make games like that.
Looks like fun
This is fantastic!
Thanks, speed is becoming a problem. I had to reduce the movement resolution to try to account for it. Not sure I can optimize it much more as it is.
@@TheArmchairrocker Yep I know that problem, when using sprite movements by pixels. Some of my games even move every character block because of this .
@@joemorris9501 I saw an XB pacman game on TIGameShelf, haven't tried playing it, so I don't know if they sonehow were able to optimize it better than me or if they're just moving 1 char at a time (or half a char as in my case)
Finally got around to playing Mirror maze and it is using only CHAR style movement, so 8 pixels at a time and running considerably slower.
What emulator are you using?
Classic99
Great job! Is it written in Extended Basic and converted to assembly, or is it pure XB?
Thanks, it was written in XB and then compiled to AL/ML.
@@TheArmchairrocker That's the way to go these days, XB is just too slow for arcade style games. In any event looking forward to the final game :)
@@mwcool87maybe a couple weeks away. I'll post here and on the forums when it's ready for download.
How is your Star Wars game going? A friend of mine is currently participating in a marathon on all unofficial Star Wars games, so it would be great to play your game as part of it!
Development has been put on the back burner for now. I have two other games I'm working on that will need to be finished before I return to SW. Thanks for the interest though. I will post new videos anytime significant progress has been made on any of the current projects (Pacman++, Satan's Keep, Star Wars)
Love the 8x8 pixel sprites
I like all the little details like the underwater cities. Great sprite work.
I like it. Good job!
Took longer than I had hoped especially for such a simple game.
I thought at first this was a comment someone else made about your game and I could not believe the audacity. We're grateful for your work! Can't wait to fire this up and play it.
Fantastic! love it
Thanks
Ohh wow. That looks so clean.
Excellent! :)
Should be a few more days, I'll keep you posted.
The finished game is here: ua-cam.com/video/PLCiPwLXOZ8/v-deo.htmlsi=E7lQfNXQ_ufoMCCd
Looking forward to it! :)
Ok. So...this is like Star Wars because it says "Astromech" on it? Thanks captain 1978.
Did, you read the title, genius? It's a work in progress, kind of like that last video you posted. You know the one where you said because you can't substitute an A major chord for every A chord, it's "context learning."
@@TheArmchairrocker so where does this leave us now?
@@curiousguitaristmaybe don't use buzzwords to tell people they need to learn basic music theory.
Seen ya over on FPS channel. Gtsy😊
That looks great!
Cartridge binary: github.com/CheungChang7/TI99_HOMEBREW/blob/main/TCAN/TCAN_8.bin
Looks really good. Like the idea of being able to build up the compound. Reminds me a little bit of Tombstone City 😉
Yeah, it's not unlike Tombstone City. Trying to add the grenade and claymore traps to it now and then maybe make another pass over the code to make it faster.
I got the cartridge version of the game and it's fun to play, I like this fusion of LOTR and Arkanoid, interesting take. I also like that each warlord has his special power. Good job!
Thanks, working on a couple of new ones now.
Brilliant!
very nice , like the ship's movement with tilt
Very nice
looking good!

nice! I can't wait to try it :)
I'll let you know when it's ready, hopefully TMOP or somebody on AtariAge will generate the cartridge file soon. Last time I posted, they only took an hour or so.
Love it! Great job

Sembra promettere molto bene!! Speriamo presto in una versione definitiva👍🏻
"Warlords" dovrebbe essere finito la prossima settimana, questo richiederà più tempo
