this is the S.A.R.A. Limited Late Model 100 held at the Auburndale speedway on March 27th 1999
I wish I had this vacation in 1988!
Thank you for posting! 77 Miami hurricane! Jackie Evans..RIP 6 days before I was born.. I know exactly where my pop was..!
Went to the races with my dad a lot in the '70s... definitely recognize number 24 Will Cagle, red & white number 2 Frankie Schneider... and I think I see "Charging" Charlie Jarzombek with the big number "1". *Edit: Further examination indicates that #1 is most likely Rags Carter, not Charlie J.*
Thank you for posting this!
Wow, fantastic footage, thanks for sharing !!!
That red and white coupe, with no numbers and a very straight, clean body, appears to be Don Diffendorf. Usual number for him on that car would be # S/360. The white coupe (#24) looks like Ken Shoemaker, a Fonda regular. Please advise and correct me if I'm mistaken on these. Great video
@@gordonbrand7021 The Red and white coupe is indeed Don Diffendorf with his regular Saturday night asphalt car rom Shangri-La. He would eventually finish second to Stan Ploski in this inaugural Daniel Boone 200. The white #24 is I think Will Cagle. The white #45 pictured is also an upstate New York Car owned by Pete Gillette and driven by Billy Blum and in one of the line-up pans there is a gray primer coupe. That was the #04 driven by another Shangri-La regular Don Yeingst. This is a tremendous piece of racing footage. Awesome! I didn't recognize the red #21 or the J130 coach. Nevertheless a great walk down memory lane some 55 years later. Thanks.
@@michaelmonnat5654 thank you for the corrections. Took me a minute to place your name. I believe you use have a weekly column in Gater Racing News. Use to see you at all the central NY tracks. I now live in southern California, and like you, miss the asphalt and dirt modified scene of the northeast tracks. It was great growing up in the 50's,60's, and 70's
@@gordonbrand7021 I had a weekly column in the Gater Racing Photo News for a very long time. The Reading Fairgrounds was one of my all time favorite places to spectate at. When I hear people say today they never saw a race there or Langhorne or the original Nazareth National, my jaw drops and I feel sorry for them. They just don't know what they missed. This piece of Reading history is purely phenomenal.
@@michaelmonnat5654 I agree, 24 looks like Cagle. I was in his fan club as a kid, very early 70s. Could the white coupe with the big "1" be Charlie Jarzombek??
