My EAJ moment: I had joined a band of friends at another college - one spring break, we got the use of another student’s basement for rehearsals, that was located at the edge of Lake Oswego, with the basement likely below the average water line. The wiring was old - after plugging in amps and mics, we were getting electrical shocks from mic stands and guitars. While sorting out these problems, someone decided to put some Eggo waffles in the stove upstairs. Eventually, smoke from the burning waffles drifted downstairs, someone yelled “the waffles!” and ran upstairs to take them out of the oven, turn it off, and open some windows. I don’t think we ever figured out the wiring problem, and we were invited to never rehearse there again. Holidays, salad days, and days of moldy mayonnaise! And lots of ramen.
