Hook Line & Singer

Приєднався 2 бер 2021
Hi! I’m Bob Sellers, your host and resident singing fisherman. I was a banker who sang in my own gospel quartet for many years. I worked all week and sang all weekend. Then, from 2011 to 2018 I sang lead for Hall of Fame gospel quartet, The Kingsmen. For over 20 years, I rarely had time to fish, so I’m making up for it now! I still travel the country full-time as a Christian soloist, but when I’m home, I fish - a lot!! This channel follows my life on the water and in the woods, as well as at home and wherever else life's adventures take me, and The Gospel is always a big part of it.

2024 Muzzleloader Season - Success or Not?? #muzzleloading #blackpower #deerhunting #whitetaildeer
Here in Alabama, our muzzleloading season opens on the Monday before opening Saturday of rifle season. Not too many people around here take advantage of it, but I have the past couple of years. We had some warm weather, but it turned cool later in the week. Come and see if I see or if I hit or miss!

Great video on how to adjust. Unless you hunt in a blind with your gun strapped in that exact vise your gun will be off center vs sighting in off a bipod or sandbag rest.
I have the old Savage weather Warrior in 270 wsm. It shoots worse than yours with that Deer season XP. BUT it shoots pretty consistent around .4 with Hornady Precision Hunter 145 grain ELD-X

Great video. The explanation of elevation and windage adjustments was extremely helpful. Cheers!
I like your presentation and your easy laid country style I can tell that you're a happy man living a happy life I enjoyed this post
Using complete crap copper jacketed lead core bullets so how much of the deer meat are you going to waste and leave for the coyotes? Or how much deadly lead fragments you like to eat in deer meat? Using any of the copper expanding bullets won't cause meat loss.
@@Lure-Benson you mean like man’s done for hundreds of years? All-copper bullets have their place, but at most hunting ranges, a lead jacketed bullet will outperform them 9 out of 10. I’m not making any sense out of your waste left for the coyotes comment unless you’re speaking of the gut pile I leave after field dressing one. Good hunting!
Half of the crap you ingest is far worse than the minuscule amount of lead in a deer shoulder.
Spoken like a true overeducated youngster
@@HookLineSinger You are a low knowledge hunter who I am sure waits for Walmart to put on sale the worst crap commercial ammo with lead core bullets that blow the living shit of deer wasting pounds or meat. I have been a professional guide since 1978 working the Pacific NW and in Alaska, so I have seen about ever rifle and types of bullets used. I am also a custom rifle builder and advanced reloader with common cartridges to making wildcat cartridge. In Hunting Roosevelt Elk before the coming of the Barns X bullet we used common brands of lead core bullets where the meat damage was so bad often, we left for the coyotes the full front half of the Elk because blood shot was so bad and massive 8-inch holes in the ribs wrecked the full rib cage. The lead core bullets used on deer we just expected to lose the full front of the deer. Some ignorant fool like you will blame the rifle for the massive damages done to game when it is your own stupid ignorance of lack of knowledge of using total crap lead core bullets that blow up on impacting game

I just subscribed. Found your channel an hour ago and sent you a comment about 308. Now I found this video. It is awesome. Finding another person with a reasonably priced 308 doing ammunition comparisons is exactly what I am looking for. I have not seen any Norma Bond Strike 180gr but I will start looking today. My Howa has a 1/10 barrel twist and it likes the lighter bullets a little better for precision accuracy. The heavier bullets will be just fine for hunting because me finding a deer more than 150yrds or farther is unlikely. Anyway, thanks for the work putting out excellent videos. Much appreciated in texas.
@@user-yu1zp2vu9x thanks again! I really liked those Bond Strikes. Midway was running a HUGE sale on those when I bought them and I wish I’d have bought more. Appreciate the sub. Honestly, I don’t do that many shooting videos, but I would certainly like to do more. Stay in touch and God bless!
Really good video. Thanks for the work you put in. I have a new Howa 1500 308. It has a thin barrel and it warms up quickly. For targeting mine loves the Hornaday Match 168gr ($45). It also likes Hornaday Black A-Max 168gr ($24). For hunting mine also likes the Hornaday American Whitetail 168gr. However, the Norma Whitetail 150gr ($29) shoots almost the same MOA. The Norma also shoots 275 faster from the muzzle. Next I'm going to compare Hornaday Superperformance 150gr SST (?$) with Remington Core-Lokt 180 or 150gr (?$ I think cheap). It would be great for you to do a few more comparisons. Again, thank you for this video.

Hey just wondering how to use the top dial on the scope. I have the initial setup and am sighted in 3” high at 100 yards but does that dial on the top compensate for distance for longer shots?
Yes. That’s the whole purpose of it. If you’re zeroed at 3” high at 100, then you can dial up the elevation to whatever distance you want beyond that, and when you dial it back to the zero stop, it will be back to the zero you set (3” high at 100). I would really recommend zeroing at 100 yards. That way, when you order a custom dial, the zero stop is always at “1”. Then, if you were to take a 300 yard shot, just dial it up to “3”, and so on. That is the real benefit of the CDS (custom dial system). Thanks for watching.
@@HookLineSinger Ok great thanks. I have the custom dial sitting on my desk just have to put it on. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question!
That's really strange how the intake moves/ticks like that. With not much info on the coades, and the only thing that is attached to the intake that would make it click like that would be fuel. I think you have a failing fuel pump. You state it's worse under load, like towing. Bad coil, spark plugs, fuel injector, compression, can all cause misfires. OR you can sell it to me for $1,000, got cash in hand, and you won't have to worry about it no more.
😂 Yeah, I haven’t figured out that clicking yet. It’s not doing that anymore (just missing) and it’s actually started missing pretty regularly even when it’s warm now. The codes just give a generic “misfire in cylinder 1” (P0301, I think?), so it’s not a lot of help. I guess I’m just going to take it to a shop where they’ll be better able to diagnose it.
Try to transfer the coil to another cylinder to see if code moves or spark plug. And check compression on #1 sometimes code can be wrong and could be misfiring on the other cylinder.
Are there any codes? The clicking is coming from your throttle body.
6:51 built in rabbit in distress predator call!!! 😂
😂😂😂 True!!! Hahaa

@@HookLineSinger did that work?
@@jonp6347no, this was after. 😕

Unless you are shooting in a cat 5 hurricane, there is no way the wind blew that shot off that far at only 300 yards. Once you feel like you about have your scope zeroed at 100, you seriously need to take 3-5 shots without making an adjustment to make any final adjustment based on the center of where your shots are grouping.
I just purchased a new Winchester Model 70 Super Grade Maple and was looking at putting this scope on the rifle. This video was very helpful in deciding on choosing this scope. Thank you so much.
Awesome, you're very welcome. I bet that's a mighty sweet rifle!!
Bob, this was absolutely awesome. What amazing memories. Thoroughly enjoyed it👏👏🎉🎉🎉
Pretty cool. So you dial it in at 100 yards and then adjust the top turret to further ranges.
@@michaelbishop6831 correct. When you receive a custom dial from Leupold (one comes free with every purchase of these CDS scopes), you tell them what your yardage is for zero. I zeroed mine at 100, so my zero stop is at “1” on the turret. Push in the button and turn it to “2” for 200, “3.5” for 350 yards, etc., etc. all the way out to whatever two full turns (I think) equate to based on the ballistics of your rifle, round and hunting environment (ballistic coefficient, muzzle velocity, avg. elevation and temperature…Leupold figures those ballistics at the factory, based on the info you provide them). To quickly return to 100 yards, just dial it back to 1, at which point it will be a hard stop and it won’t move from that spot until you press in the button again. Thanks for watching!
@@HookLineSinger outstanding! I have to check my box to make sure I have the CDS. It’s 2” high at 50 yards at the moment (7 mm REM Mag, Federal Premium 160 grain Nosler Partition)
Your parallax adjustment is done by sight image of what your aiming at. Those numbers are just roundabout values. While they may work for you, for most those settings wont. Look at your image and adjust accordingly
There’s plenty of premium 270 wsm loadings available online.
Certainly more than there used to be. Hoping more will show up in stores to avoid shipping charges.
Great review! Does this scope have a “return to zero stop”? Also for hunting antelope will this scope handle a 600 yard shot? That will be the max range I’ll ever shoot. Thank you!
Both questions: YES. It’s a hard zero stop and will not move from zero until you press a button on the dial. Also, a 600 yard setting would be no problem with a good, flat-shooting antelope round, although that’s way farther than I’d ever be able to hit one!! Ha. Thanks for watching and good hunting.
Here’s some more info straight from Leupold. ua-cam.com/video/78NxZYlIQKY/v-deo.htmlsi=5ebuaYmePe9UjHS5
Thank you so much for the quick reply! So once the scope is custom dialed in with say a 100 yard zero to hit a target at say 570 yards can I twist the turret to “5.7” or is it only adjustable to the nearest 50 yards?
You could dial it to 5.7, however only 50 yard increments are numbered. You’d just dial it to between 5 and 5.5. Here’s a sample custom turret. If you’ll zoom in on the image, this reply will probably make more sense. duckduckgo.com/?q=leuoold+custom+turret&iax=images&ia=images&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.americanhunter.org%2Fmedia%2F3zjdiumj%2Fleupold-custom-dial-system_inset5.jpg%3Fwidth%3D1000%26height%3D550
