The Jass B'stards - Spy Thingy
The Jass B'stards recorded this for Balcony TV, Delhi a while back but since BTV appear to have closed their channel we are uploading the video here, maybe it will have a new lease of life, who knows.
Another advantage for us is that you will be spared from having to read comments that were on the BTV channel such as 'these fuckers cannot play', 'it is horrible noise', 'a false stab at creativity' etc.
The Jass B;'stards are:
Stefan Kaye: organ, percussion
Tony Bass: bass guitar
The Late Nikhil Vasudevan - drums

The music is ALL WRONG. If you look at the orchestra, real music comes from a piccolo player, with horn accompaniment. Without the correct music, the scene falls flat.

You obviously think you are making a valid point but if you knew anything about the function of music in cinema you would realize that in most cases, its function is to illustrate the action and emotions portrayed onscreen. The piano music is alluding to what one imagines the orchestra may be doing but is obviously not intended to be a replacement for it, the orchestra shown on screen would not be illustrating the thoughts and emotions of the protagonist, nor be providing commentary on events surrounding him. You perhaps do not realise also that silent movies of the 1910s and 20s were accompanied in most cases by a solo pianists or organ player, not an orchestra. If you were around then would you have stood up and complained that the cinema hall neglected to provide an orchestra for a scene that depicts an orchestra? It is silent and expressionistic film, artistic license if permissible. The producers of this movie understand this. You however are a no nothing no-it-all whose comments are ALL IGNORANT.

@@stiffkittensinc2836 My point stands....the best accompaniment I've ever heard for the film is here: ua-cam.com/video/5M3P6AHWOIU/v-deo.html .....the scene where the clowns march into the ring depicts them playing something that sounds like a flute, and the cutaways depict orchestra members playing flutes, a trombone and a horn, all of which follows the clowns who dance an odd jig. It seems very effective to me, superior in fact to the score you seem to be defending. But I have to apologise of course, because I can see how someone like me, a "no (sic) nothing no (sic)-it-all whose (sic) comments are ALL IGNORANT", expressing an opinion which disagrees with yours, would enrage you. P.S. Your typos really detract from your diatribe. "Proofread before publishing" is the first rule of posting comments. Grammar and spelling errors destroy your credibility, especially when you're vehemently calling someone else stupid.

@@AEYATES-zl1mu I am familiar with that accompaniment, it was not produced specifically for that film, and it shows. It is stock music, parts of which have been used for other MGM silent movies. You claim that it is the best score, how many complete scores have you heard for this movie? My guess is only the one you provided a link to. Of course, if I was commissioned by MGM to produce a score (or stock music) i may or may not have chosen to utilize an orchestra, but this is a moot point. I was not commissioned, it was a labour of love if you will. This is a semi improvised score performed live along with the screening of the movie at a small theatre in New Delhi. The same way most of the viewings would have happened upon its original release 100 years ago. My guess is that you are a student of film and/or music and hopefully you will outgrow your precocious prattle. P.S I am a former English language teacher as well as a music producer, luckily and unbeknown to you, English is my first language. Were it not, your comments about grammar would be deemed quite offensive, instead they are merely petty. What detracts from your diatribe though is pretty much everything that you have said. Incidentally 'whose' is correct. No [sic] necessary.

@@stiffkittensinc2836 It shows that it wasn't produced for the film? How? It works with the director's accompaniment! And you're not going to like this but I'm quite aware that 'whose' is correct-but I included that mistake for a reason-if you wish me to acknowledge it, then you must acknowledge your fifteen other 'real' mistakes. Sorry, but you write poorly, I taught English at the university level in Southern California for 25 years, mainly Shakespeare. I don't know you obviously, but a little advice: If I were you, I'd use this experience to examine and learn about your anger issues, especially your anger issues at being corrected when you post writing errors. Because if not, if you act out like this in your everyday life, you might come across someone who's not as kind and non-violent as I. Good luck to you.

Stefan Kaye The condemnation of free market capitalistic systems that, by definition, follow the pareto principle, and calling it a system that views hierarchy in a society as oppressive (perpetrated by men). Pseudo intellectual because we all know (or should know) that the opposite of the free market capitalism is more suffering and if history is any indication, death. And she either hasn't thought about it or knows and doesn't want to speak it.

Why don’t you just stop wearing kajal... first you wear it and then complain when people appreciate it. What do you want? This is absolute ‘women’s lib’ bullshit we’re in the grip of. Women would complain people looking at them when they do everything to attract attention. Complete utter pseudo-intellectual crap. Disgustingly manipulative poem. Meaningless!!!!
