    Dang. I read every comment. There are many commenters that are a.) salesmen from companies that produce .243 caliber rifles, b.) geniuses in the ballistics and all forms of projectile engineering, c.) experienced proponents of larger caliber rifles, d.) antelope bounty hunters, or e.) completely full of doo doo (forgive my harsh language).

    I did 2 Antelop hunts in Oregon long ago. I used a 7 mm Rem mag first time then pole hammered a buck to 200 yards. Next hunt a 300 Wby mag was used on a doe permit I hammered a doe at 300 yards causing death where it stood. The Barns 7mm TSX 160 grain and the Barns 30 cal tsx 180 grain made zero damage loss of meat with less that quarter sized exit hole and bullet sized entry holes.

  • @georgesakellaropoulos8162

    The first shot killed him. You might want to take a look at the construction of your bullet or maybe consider moving up to .243.

    I'm glad she didn't shoot when the buck was skylined. That would have been an unethical shot because she could not see what was over the horizon. The second shot was money and he very likely would have dropped very soon without the third shot. Also, none of my hunting buddies wear that color nail polish. Just sayin'

    That was simply NOT ethical hunting, not near enough rifle to kill quickly and humanly in my opinion.

    Have you had any O ring leaking problems through the years by doing this. I'm concerned about the O rings getting brittle or developing a crack due to the super low temperature. In this case I could buy a replacement designed for these temps. Has the one installed with the sodastream cylinder worked fine?

    • @stetkal
      @stetkal 2 роки тому

      The orings should be made for that temperature. When refilling with liquid co2 the tanks also freeze. For safety turn one in every once in a while.

      I realize a 22-250 will kill a pronghorn as evidence by this video. However, 257, 270, and 280 class bullets in the 120, 130 and 140 grain range are better at bucking the ever present prairie wind. Best of luck in the field.

    I did it and it works but it only lasted about a week, not a big deal, I can get dry ice for $1.68 a pound, What a racket, I bought one, the bottle that came with it lasted barley a week, 30 friggen dollars for a replacement, I was so pissed when I found out dry ice is a buck and a half a pound, although I will admit the bottles are well made, w/ quality brass fittings. Why don't they have some kind of exchange program, those bottles should last years.

    • @stetkal
      @stetkal 2 роки тому

      They do have a exchange program in the U.S of A. It's just more expensive than the dry ice.

    Congratulations on a great hunt, and good shooting. You did well with the 22-250 but you might think about moving to a 243 or bigger. With proper bullets I am sure you will see noticeably better terminal performance on the antelope. But I have to admit, you did a fantastic job, showing restraint, picking your shot and placing your shot well. Congratulations.

    • @stetkal
      @stetkal 3 роки тому

      Thank you for the polite comment. The 22-250 was only used on this big game hunt. This antelope hunt was for both of us a first. And a great learning experience. Happy hunting!

    • @fedup3582
      @fedup3582 3 роки тому

      Congratulations on your very first hunt. I hope you get to enjoy many, many more. Many of us have at one time or another, hunted using whatever we could get our hands on. I started hunting with a 1917 Enfield that originally belonged to my uncle. My dad borrowed it for me to use. It is chambered for the 30-06, was the rifle my dad started hunting big game with as a boy. It was originally a military rifle built for use in the first world war. It was approximately 65 years old when I started using it, it is presently @ 100 years old and I still have it. I have been fortunate enough to be able to use many different rifles and calibers in my lifetime and have many fond memories. I hope you can build many good memories of fine times in the outdoors hunting with family and friends, and can eventually pass the tradition down to your children. But in the meantime, I think you need a new rifle to start your new hunting life. Depending on what you hope to hunt, there are a number of standards that will serve you well. For deer/antelope size game, if you don't like recoil much, a 243 or 7mm-08 will serve you admirably. If you hope to go to bigger game like elk and moose also, a 308, 270, or 30-06 will handle your needs just fine. These are the standard, most common and proved cartridges, successfully being used for all manner of game for 50 to 100 years. They are plentiful, usually easy to get ammo for and fairly economical. Then there are many, many other calibers available for your consideration. Do a bit of research and find what suits you best. I have a 30-06 Winchester rifle I have used very happily on many hunts. I wish I had a son or someone else who enjoyed and appreciated hunting in all its aspects as much as I have. I would love to pass that rifle on to them to help them in their new adventures, to get started with a good rifle that includes a history they could maybe appreciate too. Good luck with your future, you had a fine antelope hunt there and performed as true sportsmen. I applaud you and wish you well in your future.

    • @fedup3582
      @fedup3582 3 роки тому

      You will have to forgive me. I just noticed the video was 6 years old. I assumed it was current. I just like to try help new hunters to get started. I still hope you progressed into a great hunting life and I wish you much more in the future.

    I shot one with a 30 30 right in the lungs the thing layed down for 3 minutes stood back up and I finally grabbed the scoped 223 and shot it through the head. I like to think that with a 22 250 as long as its within 120 its almost a for sure drop.
