First run of my Garden Railway
After my dad passing few years ago we initially decided to remove his garden railway as it was in a state of disrepair after being left for some time, but as time went by and as i kept looking at the garden the railway used to run through the urge to build my own garden railway took over.
So after many years of deliberation and then having to deal with that virus July 2024 finally saw G scale trains running again in the garden !
I have decided to start out with a simple dog bone style layout to help with keeping maintenance down to a minimum but i have used a couple of features from my dads railway such the bridge across the pond and the rather tight cutting.
This is just the start and i hope to film more once i have sorted out some of the track unevenness and fitted a more permanent solution to running power to the track.
The only thing is a can't think of a name for this new evolution of our garden railway so please if you have any ideas leave them in the comments.

After sitting dormant in it’s home made wooden box for years I finally got the time to check and fire up my late fathers Accucraft Caradoc live Steam engine with a quick test run up and and back long the patio. I have plans to rebuild my dads G Scale garden railway during 2022 and want to be able to run his live Steam engine on a regular basis again so was thrilled to see it just fire up and ru...

Wonderful running shots, Jason! Congrats on the launch of the railway. Would love a future video where you talk through the track plan a bit more as I enjoy hearing how different people approach! All the best, Curtis

Thanks mate and It was the first time I had run the railway since I had built it. My dads railway was completely lifted up and packed away many years ago with a view to sell it. I then decided to build a new railway using his track and stock. I was able to use some original bits such as the bridge, but it is in a new location and I was also able to dig out the cutting and re line it with slate and run the railway through there but in the opposite direction than it had before. I kind of view this as a new railway built to my specifications in memory of the old man and this video does indeed show the very first time a ran a train around the whole track I had spent weeks designing and laying.

@@gscalejason Good on you for giving it a rebirth, then. I would still like to know what the deal with the video thumbnail featuring a different train is, though

@@ZeldaTheSwordsman Now i get what you mean and the story behind that picture is that when i was moving the bridge about over the pond to find the right location i placed a train on it as i wanted to see how it would look from down by the steaming up area. The engine then did not do the first run as i found out it has a bent rod which fouls when running. It must of derailed at some point and never got sorted. I had to use a slightly different thumbnail as i got carried away filming the trains that i forgot to take any nice pictures for the thumbnail. On my next visit to the railway i will put that right with a proper picture so the thumbnail is of the actual train that's running in the video !
