Yikes 😂
My mother was born in Steamboat in Sept of 1905 and her father my grandfather ran one of the saloons in Brooklyn till the city leaders shut them down. Because of her dad's business none of the other kids were allowed to associate with her and her sister and brothers. We lived in Kremmling from the summer of 1944 toll the spring of 1946 and traveled over Rabbit ears pass every two weeks to shop. In my junior year of high school I competed in a giant slalom in steamboat one of my competitors was Bud Werner he finished 1 st and I was 3 rd from last. In those days Steamboat was a sleepy little cow town and a great place to visit. Great video and I learned more history over what my mother shared with us as we were growing up.
Awesome. Where is this at? I am from central WV and a Boggs
The Gerald Boggs grave is located within the Steamboat Springs, CO cemetery. The old Boggs Hardware store was located downtown in Steamboat on Lincoln Ave. The "Boggs" lettering is still visible on the building front.
I would love to communicate with you. I was born on Elkhead in 1940. I knew your grandfather Ferry. My mother worked at the McKinley Ranch as a young girl who wanted to breakout and go to college. So she got a chance to help the teacher at the Rock School, she did. So as I grew up we still went to what they called the Literary Society. I knew the history and even the layout of the Rockhouse. Your definition of the community of Elkhead was so true it made be shed tears it was so true. I also published a book about the Utes which took many years. My main protagonist was not Chipita but Ouray’s sister who was a quietly heroic woman. Doris 855 CO Rd 30 Craig.
Utes didn't have chiefs
what a gem!
Thank you so much for showing this presentation on UTube. It's wonderful. I loved being able to listen to our great history of Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley. Great programs, and I look forward to the next one. Their story and photos reminded me of all the ranches I visited while I was working on an insurance claim.
Shes fantastic
Thank you to the Ute Indian Tribe, and thanks Tread of Pioneers for recording and posting.

There are 13 America's Byways, nationally designated by FHWA. We also have 10 National Forest Scenic Byways and 2 BLM Backcountry Byways. Thanks for your work and this presentation! Well done!
I used to go camping at camp hale quite a bit. 50yrs ago. There were still many leftover hand made structures around from WWII. Signs that warned to watch out for maybe forgotten mines. Great fishing. Mt Holy Cross.
