Fun to remember back to this. Like a lot of the fandom I was really interested in octolings, so Marina’s existence kind of overpowered anything else about this reveal. I remember back then a lot of people calling Marina a “double minority”, plus she is more conventionally attractive than Pearl, so the fandom at the time was very drawn to her and very dismissive of poor Pearl. I was the same way. I joined team ice cream for Marina. And at final fest I joined team chaos for Pearl!!
