"Oblique Rain" is an original composition inspired by the Poem of the same title, by Portuguese Modernist - Fernando Pessoa. It was initially composed in Portland, Oregon in 1994, while I was camping-out in a home I was painting. I used a Korg Wavestation Synth to create the frame, and added guitar, vibes, and glockenspiel over the years.

Hey Mark, How are you? It’s been SO LONG ago that we met at the Art Galleries in Philly about 7/8 years ago when I first started going to them. A lot have shut down and moved, but there are a few nice ones left. It seems there one’s I really like all over in different places of Center City now. Have you gone back to NYC?? Just asking because I haven’t seen you and I actually totally had forgotten about you until last night when I went through my CD’s I found yours. The one you’d given me at that Now Defunct Gallery known as “Twenty TWO Gallery” on 21st St. between Locust & Spruce. I just listened to this one here that you just put out and now I remember your tranquil and peaceful music you played. This was ALL before Covid struck us and now it’s just such a different world out there... Hope you’ll pop back into the Philly scene sometime soon!

I remember Nick Drake, poor tortured soul, gained appreciation for his music only after his death. My favorite of his compositions was River Man, still play it. Thank you for this offering in his memory, makes me visualize his last days before his untimely demise. Its a touching piece of music.
