I am planning my first ShadowDark adventure and intend to use Roll20 (as I've done for 5E campaigns). What method did you use to create/import the TORCH TIMER? I'd love to add that to my presentation. (Also, I'm assuming the GM/DM is the only one that can see it.) What method did you use to create this for your game?

This was really excellent, fellows. Thanks so much for the demo. The system is easy to read and seems simple, but you really don't get the flavor of it until you see it in action, so I'm really glad you showed off both the character builder and the combat mechanics. I was on the fence, but y'all pushed me over -- just bought my hardback copy (which comes with a free pdf :) I'm pretty sure I understand the different magic rules, but if y'all ever demo those I'll be sure to watch as well.

Did you guys upload all of these Shadowdark themed icons and what not on to Roll20 yourselves? I'm new to the site and didn't see anything referencing SD playability. I guess for the character sheets you would have just had to do those manually and not use the ones they provide?

I really enjoy solo playing ICRPG. I use set numbers for my difficulty checks based on the task being Easy, Medium, Hard, or Impossible. Does anyone else do this?

I'm an oddball to the RPG hobby. Played Traveller in the early 80's. Never played any Dungeon/Medieval fantasy... I WANT to Play Steampunk . I will only play EZD6... for it's Genre flexibility and Speedy Play, and yes I've been working up a Steampunk Variant. I may even be drawn into a bit of Medieval/Fantasy thanks to EZD6 and DM Scotty. By the way... the 2nd Rat had it too easy! Leif could have Opposed the attack (see Page 13) making it a contest twixt Dwarf vs Rat... main difference is that Leif could spend Karma Opposing the attack.

The death saved mechanic, feels almost like the character wasn’t originally supposed to be unconscious or incapacitated. Because attacks against the character cause two failures, it’s almost like it was originally supposed to be something you did in addition to taking your turn, and you could still act (possibly only on a successful save)… I wonder if it would work better as RAW if the character could still act?

Is monster ATK a reduction to PCs DEF score or plus modifier to DEF die roll, and does it matter since the outcome is the same? I want to make sure that a larger ATK number means harder to avoid.

I've got a question about the Ultimate effort bonus on the character sheet. Let's say I have a Priest character who knows the Atom Palm spell, which does Ultimate damage. Would it be more appropriate to apply my Magic effort bonus because it's a spell, or my Ultimate, since it's actually doing Ultimate?

Hopefully the destroy attrition isn't all that common. Since character advancement is put into the gear and skills permanently losing equipment is very much equivalent to losing levels in other games. I don't think this is a bad thing but, if the character has invested lots of points into the one item that is destroyed that can have the effect of making them much weaker than the other characters. Not to mention it generally just feels really bad for a lot of players when their character loses levels.

Step one: throw it away. Step two: play any other game. PROFIT! Fuck Shadowdark.

I don't know if your address this later on in the video but at the point where I'm at right now you short change yourself on your hip points and you also Short change yourself on one point for your attack. You get your Constitution modifier on your first level hit points, and you have that weapon master that gives you a plus one to melee or ranged

So when you have players that have points in jump and players that don’t, how do you handle jump checks? It’s really puzzling and the book doesn’t do a very good job of explaining it. Thanks.

Thx for the vid, as many other rules in C&S, attrition is not a new mechanic, it existed in Torchbearer for instance, Crown and Skulls authors just cranked it to 11.
