MTB Saddle Injury WARNING
Переглядів 1786 місяців тому
Hollow - safety channel - MTB saddles can snap and cause serious (if not fatal) injury. This is exactly what happened to me, so I've put this video together in hope to prevent others from getting injured. Please note, this safety hazard only becomes relevant if you fall hard on such saddle. Therefore if you just ride on flat surfaces and don't engage in any form of jumps, then you probably don'...
DIY e-Bike Carrier for tiny campers A-frame - Full Build
Переглядів 1,5 тис.11 місяців тому
Do you have a tiny camper and a heavy large e-Bike and unsure how to transport it? Then, this video is for you. I have faced this exact challenge when I got my first e-Bike. These bikes are heavy and most roof rack based bike carriers are not adequate for carrying eBikes. I also don't feel comfortable transporting such bikes at the back of my trailer both because it adds a lot of extra weight a...
DIY vertical bike rack in a car collision
Переглядів 942Рік тому
My DIY vertical bike rack has been smashed by another car, so in this video I'm sharing the results of this accident. Overall, I'm really happy how my custom built vertical bike rack handled this type of an accident. When dealing with heavier type of bikes, such as e-bikes, towbar mounted bike racks are the most viable option, so even though it puts your bike in the line of impact, there is no ...

Hi, I'm Elvis Svonja, and in this video I talk about various mistakes that I made during the build of my first square drop camper. This video also covers various learnings and improvements on this trailer that have improved our camping experience. Feel free to provide constructive comments with any questions or suggestions. I acknowledge that there are things that I could have done differently ...
Mechanical Brakes Installation on Squaredrop Camper Trailer
Переглядів 16 тис.2 роки тому
In this video I share detailed steps of how I installed a mechanical brakes kit including full axle and wheel assembly, as well as new brake enabled coupling on my squaredrop camper trailer. When I first built my squaredrop camper, I used an axle kit from an old trailer. That proved to be one of the biggest mistakes of my build as the old kit just wasn't adequate nor good enough. Eventually I e...
Snow Camping at Mt Stirling
Переглядів 7522 роки тому
In this video three of my mates and myself tried snow camping for the first time. We stepped away from the rat-race, all the busyness and noise, and traveled to mountains, where we hiked and camped. There was a lot of anticipation and some uncertainty about the trip, but in the end it ended up being a great experience. The simple life in the pristine mountains is beautiful and immensely therape...
Fastest Way to Warm up your Bed
Переглядів 15 тис.2 роки тому
If you live further away from the equator the winters can get cold and sometimes it can be quite a challenge getting into a cold bed. I personally don't use heating at night because too much heat negatively effects the quality of your sleep. Additionally it is best to only use the right thikness of covering that will result in comfortable temperature at night. Too much or too little will disrup...
DIY Recycled Timber Rustic Coffee Table build
Переглядів 2,8 тис.2 роки тому
In this video, I build a custom rustic looking outdoor coffee table from recycled cypress pine posts. I love reusing old materials and recycling. My wood making skills are very basic, but it's quite easy to make a rustic style furniture, because any imperfections are part of the desired look. Thank you for watching.
Ice Baths - I keep doing it

Cold water exposure has been a huge part of my wellbeing routine. It has been difficult for me to go for more than two weeks without going back to 2-3 minute ice baths. It has improved my resilience, mental health, physical health, immunity, motivation, mood, energy, cardio-vascular system, blood circulation and I've even largely got rid of my migraines after 25 years. We live in a world over-s...
DIY Squaredrop Camper FULL BUILD Walkthrough

Hi, I'm Elvis Svonja, and during 2021 I've built my first squaredrop camper (aka tiny camper or teardrop trailer) called Glacier Explorer. This video provides a detailed walkthrough of this squaredrop camper build - built completely from scratch. I have also uploaded short timelapse videos of building the base frame of this trailer as well as the main box (see my channel). This camper was desig...
Short Desert Film recorded at Stockton Dunes

Stockton Beach/Dunes is part of Worimi Conservation Lands at NSW/Australia. It features a fascinating little desert with dunes that open up to around 40 kilometres of beach front accessible by 4WD vehicles. It also features a tiny "tin city" village where original Mad Max movie was recorded. Whilst visiting this beautiful landscape, I tried to imagine what it would be like surviving in the dese...

Thanks for the info, I am going to build one this year.
Thank you Elvis, I'm not building but couldn't decide which width and length to buy!! Thank you SO much for sharing your experience and square drop building journey with us.
Good job!
Who here in 2025
Just a chill guy fr
its a snowstorm here sadly..
Great job! Looks factory built!
Do you have a video on how you made the mounts for the roof rack?
Unfortunately I don't. But I wish I made one now.
@ChilledBeans is cool I got the general idea and I finished my mounts
Been doing this for years
Thanks Brother ....
Hola, exelente video, me preguntaba si has realizado un soporte de pared con las mismas caracteristicas, saludos
You did a phenomenal job on this build!! Never would have guessed it was DIY from looking at it.
Thank you kindly
Genius idea
No grease in the hitch ?
You are right... there probably should be.
hi, do you have a video how you made your tongue box?
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by tongue box... if you meen the hoop where the bike wheel slots in, I have some footage of that in one of my other videos - "Vertical Bike Rack"... But if you mean trailer toolbox, i don't have any detailed footage of that.
@@ChilledBeans hi, i mean the black storage box/chest sitting right in front of the actual camper shell.
@@branoMTB Ah right. Unfortunatelly I didn't record assembly of that one. But what i did was the following: - 10 mm marine ply - cut each panel and assemble with glue and nails/screws. I had to cut edges at an angle to support the shape - 3mm aluminium checkered sheets - made one cut out that wraps around the front and sides - in one piece. Then i used grinder with a guide to make 1mm(approx) cut along the line where i want to fold that front panel. Then i folded each side carefuly. Actually, i made the whole cutout a bit longer so that i can create small folds at the end, so it wraps around the back. - Then i made cutout for the back, bottom and top. Top was tricky as i had to also make 1mm cuts along any line where i needed to do the folds. I did folds by laying the sheet on flat surface, and then used flat timber and hammer to beat the folds in. Finally i assembled it all together by gluing the alum panels to the plywood box and adding water sealed screws in few spots. That's the gist of it. Finally i glued the whole box to the frame, but also put two screws to connect the back panel to the trailer (and used exterior silicone to seal holes around screws. I also welded an extension plates to the A frame with holes in them, so that i can also add two large nuts and bolts and bolt the box to the A frame.
Exactly what I was looking for 💯 thanks for posting!
Refreshing to see a video where someone talks about things that they could have done better or different. Im half way through my square drop build. Wont look as flash as yours. But should be functional. You`ve given me a few ideas I may run with though.
Awesome to hear my mistakes and learnings can help other people. All the best
Thanks, that was great and honest tips.
Curious what the total cost of build was
Around 5k AUD (early covid before price hikes)
Great build. Looks professionally done
That was awesome. Really well done . Hope you have had many trips with it .
It is the finishing touches - paint, trim, pin striping, lettering etc - that make a DIY project stand out. And you did an excellent job of it. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Good advice for the future, thank you Sir. 🎉🎉
What was the Total Cost of the build?
Pretty sure I mentioned somewhere in the video.. But back then when I built it, it was around 5k AUD. Although I later made some mods and improvements, which would have been another 1k AUD. (THis doesn't include price of the fridge)
Very nice build!
Lighter but not safer. When a tree limb fall on it your going to wish it had a 2x4 frame.
What do you think the roof load would be? Could it hold a rooftop tent and a couple kids, say like 800lbs?
I can give you my gut feel, but I don't have official engineering test results for this... My gut feel is that it would have absolutelly no problem carrying rooftop tent. I'm 200 lbs, and I walk in the middle of the roof and it doesn't move a bit. My roof is 18mm ply, sitting on top of inner ply walls, sitting on top of 30mm struts all glued up. Remember, the rooftop tent would be sitting on roof racks, which only apply weight on the side walls. That being said, I would suggest you weld some extra plates under the frame sides that would sit under your side walls - effectivelly making side walls sit on top of those plates. This is one thing i would do on mine if i wanted to be 100% sure about large amount of weight. Also you have to make sure your total weight with all the load (the roof top tent etc), doesn't exceed total trailer's registered legal capacity. You'll need to make sure your suspenssion is specked for that weight etc. Good luck
@@ChilledBeans almost like a rabbet joint, sounds like a good idea, ty!
What size sheets of plywood did you use for those wall and did you use 1 or 2 pieces each wall
Have a look at my other longer video of how I built this trailer... i may have snippets showing how i joined it. But i used standard 2.4 x 1.2 m plywood sheets. I had to extend both in height and in length. This was pretty straight forward, i added extra layer of thiner ply under the joins ... as a cross member struts. All glued up. I only had to extend length by a bit, like 0.6m roughly, and height even less than that.
Where did you get the material from?
I listed the specific shops in the comments. All localy source from various hardware or camper shops in Melbourne. Depending on your location, you may need to do a bit of digging around to find local suppliers
How many needed to warm the square drop?
No idea :)
Chilled, Damn!!! That is BAD ASS!!! Well Done!!!
Thank you
Well done. Thanks for sharing
Seriously well done! Easily one of the best I've ever seen.
Thanks so much
great work 👌🏼👍🏼😍
This is awesome to see an australian video of a camper build - Did you consider using an existing trailer as a base?
Thank you. I did, and I probably would in the future but it was tricky to find the specific base to suit my needs. Also I didn't want to deal with hidden issues or rust. I wanted to make sure i have solid base to suit my exact requirements. Also, building the frame (if you can weld) was fun and it wasn't as hard.
@@ChilledBeans yeah sorry, watched the video again shortly after my comment and got my answer. I cannot weld, but I have seen some places selling custom trailer bases around the $1500 mark so might go down that route.
@@tazanelli yes, if you don't weld, then it's a no brainer... buying an existing base would be the simplest and most effective option. WHen you chose a base frame, consider where you would place the water tank... base frame clearance from the ground... size of A frame if you want to put tool box etc.
It is very cool for people with the skill and tools. First DIY that does not look like a headache to use.
for real
I just want to say thank you as well. I am going to build a camper like yours 2 weeks from now and will incorporate your tips.
Very helpful. Thank you.
What a beautiful well thought out camper. Congrats. I hope you are enjoying it.
good warning. Were your rails at all loose in the seat clamp?
That's a great question. They were very firm, definitelly not loose. The rails remained locked in, which is why i got cut up by the sharp plastic only. Otherwise if they were loose there would be more rough metal exposed, or i could have got impaled by the post. I was really lucky that it didn't get my arteries either, so I could get back to the car and hospital without bleeding to death. Stay safe.
Lol searched for the exact description of the video after bringing the hairdryer in to my bed for the first time lol it works! Great minds…
high five.... Awesome. Love it.
😂❤🎉
Great tips
The explanation you provided as you progressed took me from not knowing anything about how the brakes on my trailer worked to now having a good understanding. My first job for today is to relubricate and adjust the brakes on my Chinese trailer so they work (Something they have never done since the day I purchased it.
Perfect video mate exactly what I needed

I can't believe that comes in under 750kg. All that heavy gauge steel, layers of thick plywood, 60kg of water, ... They are often built with much lighter steel frame and composite foam/polycarbonate panels to get in under that weight and have enough left over for all your camping kit.
You are right. I'm pretty sure i mentioned somewhere, at least in another video, and many comment responses that the tare weight is 920 kg.
You are not a DIY builder. You are a professional builder without a company. Fantastic.
Thank you so much.
thank you for this tutorial will definetly have to givbe it a try
