Counties - A line attack play Platform setup is a 32 ruck Quickie where the middle splits infield.
32peel - Rip open a touch defence with this attack play
Переглядів 38 тис.3 роки тому
This line attack play is a very common play that many teams have in their arsenal. Like all team plays that can utilise any of the six onfield players, it requires vision and skill. You run the platform and engage the defenders as you require Or you adjust on the run to what the defence gives you.

Attached is footage of the 1997 opens transtasman series that was played in Brisbane, Australia. The 3 test series of the mens and womens was televised and it was a first for a number of things including having the captains of the teams and the referees microphoned up plus side and end on cameras covering the action. I played in the open mens and it was one of the closest series with all games ...

I am happy to have met you in Shanghai this week, we learned a lot. I am eager to watch all your videos
Best inside ball ever works almost every time
Great to watch some of the Legends of the game playing an eye catching style of touch. Hardly a 🐓 or 🥷 to be seen 😀
Whats the difference between counties and quickie?
counties is in effect a quickie run from a 32 platform where the attacking middle moves towards his link, dumps the ball on his opposing middle and splits infield with his link as dummyhalf. Quickies can be run from all ruck platforms 21, 32 and 33 but are generally run from a 33 platform.
Thanks mate. Really helpful. Appreciate all the videos. @@peterwalters5888
Very true, pronounce our kupu properly
I'm going to use this info
Say Waikato properly
Thanks Guys, I'm coaching aTeam here in PNG with no Touch experience your videos have been great 🏉
Thanks Leigh all the best with your coaching in PNG
How does the passive link option differ from a crush? Cheers!

Nice
Awesome Pete still the man awesome bro
could u guys do a tutorial/drills on how to palm the ball better? from your videos I see that the young kids with small hands are able to do it so well but I can't seem to palm the ball (depends on the individual ball, and it's easier to palm the ball in the rain when it's wet).. I feel like it's an important skill as it allows more mobility/flexibility in movement and enables a sharper dive
How does she palm the ball so effortlessly?
Lots of practice performing the specific skill
Do you have a link to the full game at 3:09?
Don’t have the game sorry try hunt down on UA-cam
Do you have similar video more update ? Still same defence sistem in 2021?
Hi Xavier we still run this defence system pointside strikeside, it is just one of a few systems we run
Thank you , I will try to coach and improve on the team.
Is this also called an "ML"?
Yes it is
good vid Do you guys have content on pre touch positioning on try line against most common plays
Hi Daniel yes we do, please go to our website and enquire from there thanks www.sportcoach.nz regards
Fella's ....really good to see the different progressions of the play. My only question.... is Manu's play the ball considered legal? I see it more and more at the top level where there is no effort to put the trailing leg over the ball. For me it would be a change of possession each time. Cheers
Good question and one I feel compelled to reply to as many of our subscribers will want to know. The main theme is around what are best practices (stepping off the ball) and how can players achieve this. The rules are clear(must step over the ball) however the interpretations can vary depending on the level being played, the accepted conventions of the area, the referees and then the situation. Consider the following: I touched him before he put the ball down, that pass was forward, he held me, that touch was too heavy, he hooked me, that was a swipe, etc. In each scenario the player decides what practices to use and the referee determines if it is acceptable. Personally, I believe it is important that the players intention is to genuinely improve their own game(like stepping off the ball quickly) as opposed to disadvantaging others(raking the ball out, professional fouls). To answer your question. Yes what Manu demonstrates would likely be legal in the games and competitions he plays in.
@@sportcoach9429 ... thanks for the reply. I understand where you are coming from with regard to your scenerios mentioned. From a spectators point of view (I watch a lot of NSW Prem League games), it has been interesting to see the progressive change in recent years where the balance appears to have shifted to a "Let the game flow" style as managed by the top grade ref's, which in turn has seen, from my personal view, a deterioration in basics such as legal roll balls & forward passes from the ruck. I'm not sure where the balance lies... I'm just glad I'm not a ref! Cheers
Yeah that play the ball is ridiculous

It would be awesome if you had an online video course or an online coaching program. You'd be able to share this with way more people and I'd love to purchase the course too. Thanks for the awesome information Peter and Manu
If you are going to learn from someone it maks sense to learn from a true Legend. Pete Walters mastered the quickie more than 20 years ago. Changed the game and respected by all who trully know the game at the elite level.
great awareness by the wingers and links to steal touches!!
hi shah it is your friend bianca
What do you mean by sequencing? It would be good if you explained things like that a bit more
Sequencing is when your attack conditions the defence to operate a certain way. An example is you have a repeat set of six touches on their scoreline. Your sequence is a Quickie Out then a Quickie In then a Quickie Bounce whereby conditioning the link defenders to squeeze in tight to defend the first two Quickies then you bounce your Link outside their squeezed in link on the next play.
@@sportcoach9429 Ahh yes I understand. Thank you.
the second try, AUS link is offside, so NZ link could have dived too :)
Nice. More please :-)
She’s better than me!
awesome work guys
Hahahahaha Nice moves Manu! lol
Can you breakdown those moves from 3:45 onwards? Some of those I’ve never seen before. Not sure I ever want to again 🤣🤣
Hey Richard we werent going to show them due to copyright issues however they are now out for all the world to see !!
Peter Walters Haha. Love your work mate. Me and the boys from KDZ (Kiwi Daddys) Westies Touch crew here in Sydney are big fans.
Hey Pete, that second play we did very naturally when I played for Harbour at Nationals - our middle could drift to engage the other middle and dummy, meanwhile I read that and dove in at a driving in angle from a distance at pace between the middle and links feet to score a few tries that way.
Thank you very much for this great and clear content. Yet I have a question on man on man defense : how would you recommend to implement such a defense in case the acting half scoops in & supporting attackers switch themselves (often to block one defender) : chase the same attacking player till the end or intervert ? Thank you very much for your advice
Great video keep up the great work
Good video we live in a very PC world thanks for the tips hopefully see you in London! I mean this is useful as a method for protecting or attacking slower players in general tbh regardless of sex. My team for example has faster and fitter ladies then men. It's the first time i have seen anyone in touch talk about attacking a set type of player which is good since it's done in contact all the time.
