We got to visit Rugby Town ("where all the great Fijian rugby players come out of") and we later ran up the famous sand dunes where the Fiji rugby team trains. Afterwards, we did the famous Sigatoka River Safari, Ed was elected chief to represent our group, and we visited a wonderful village along the river, Vunaqoru. The girls got to get some spa time in while Ed and his dad went to see the hospital Ed was born at [see our youtube short on this]. Then we got visit a museum all about Fiji!!!! Typically we only get to see small exhibits of Fiji at other museums, so this was a treat 😌 And when we got to Korotongo, Alexis could not hold back her tears... Day 2 of feasting on your Vlogs in Fiji and i'm missing home so much...as the snow falls outside here in Co. Thank you so much for making me feel warm and cozy, seeing the beautiful sunshine, smiling faces of the locals and sweet sounds of the Fijian music. Great editing.
I confess i'm just catching up on your fantastic Vlogs after stumbling on your last few days in Fiji Vlog with the Family @ The Boatshed. Excited to view in this one of Vatukoula where i was born in the 60s. My mum's side of the family worked in the mines there in the 50s, 60s, 70s etc. Mum was from the "Work" family and Mr. Greig may remember them. Most of the "Kailoma families" have left Vatukoula over the years except some of our cousins the Handyside who still live there today. Absolutely enjoying your vlogs...Vinaka vakalevu for sharing.
Is your family's name Handyside or is that your cousins? And I can ask my dad if he remembers your fam. If you watched the video, how's the neighborhood look now from when you grew up?
@@edandlex My mum was from the Work family and we have relatives with the Handyside family in old Vatukoula. The old hood is so different and i remember seeing it run down and beyond repair when i was last there many years ago. Kind of makes me feel sad whenever i visit as it was such a vibrant progressive mining town back then in the 60s and 70s.
Wow i love this clip...plus i have a few questions as we're travelling to Fiji next year. Is that at the First Landing Resort (Boat Shed) in Viseisei, Vuda with the stunning sunset? I have never been and doing some research of hotels in that area. What a fantastic ending to your vacation. Where did ED get that Bula shirt from?..it screams Fiji !!

There are definitely rocky beaches and mangroves in Suva since it is on the water 🙂 We didn't spend our time there, though.

The museum was fun. I was told there used to be more historic pieces there, but after the coup much went missing. I don't know how accurate that statement was but we were glad to finally explore a Fijian museum all about Fiji! - Ed

Thank you. I had a psychology professor that said, "Love is like a garden: when you tend to it, things grow; when you stop taking care of it, things die." Interestingly enough, the bible describes love as a verb (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). It's been plenty of work and we're still working at it 😆 -Ed
FYI : The Fijian blood thru science supports the history that you read at the museum. If you google: DNA admixture of the Fijians….. It will say Asians and 30% Melanesian. Polynesians also have some Melanesian in them. Fijians are Polynesian because they speak the same language as the Polynesians ( austranesian language) and their blood shows it . Fijians are the original Polynesians.

Only Melanesians and south east asians which include Austronesians have the highest percentage of Neanderthals and Denisovans dna than any other group of people which shows how ancient they are even older than Africans
Melanesians Aborigines and East asians which includes Polynesians and Micronesians are closely related and have a higher percentage of Neanderthals and Denisovans DNA which is older than Homo sapiens.
