    There was something systemically mismatched here. The TKD person's kicks almost all fell short, so it seemed that he was kicking to discourage the Shotokan guy from coming in, not to actually land the kick. That speaks more of the training than the style.

    TaeKwondo vs Shotokan Karate? Why ? This is actually Karate VS Karate. Taekwondo is historically comes from Shotokan Karate. A Korean Shotokan Karateka went back to Korea and opened a Karate Dojo. There he changed its name to Taekwondo for commercial purpose. Thus Tekwondo is actually not Korean origin. Kyokushin, as you know, one of the strongest martial arts, is also derived from Shotokan Karate.

      I'm an old Marine. I was a instructor for kenpo karate and kung fu. I fought many a tournament. Karate is kind of like learning how to swim. You don't learn how to swim without getting wet. You don't learn how to fight without getting hit. Keep going you will get there. Good luck to you. 🖕🖕🖕

  • @rufusvalentino
    @rufusvalentino 2 роки тому

    My opinion based on observation. Everything is easier said then done. However, here's my thoughts coming from a Tang Soo Do background. The TKD fighter needs to slow down a little and focus. At times he seems to just be throwing kicks while the Karate fighter kicked more strategically. The TKD fighter also needs to mix up his kicks. He mainly threw front kicks and roundhouse kicks. Where he would of had the advantage several times if he threw back kicks, ax kicks, hook kicks, and back hook kicks. I also noticed it looked like he held back some kicks like he was afraid to kick or to hit him. Its not a game of tag. I believe the Karate fighter to be the victor however, I do believe he could of been a little more aggressive.

    IDK. Didn't like either. The TKD guy doesn't seem to be at the same level, kicks are rather low and slow as the Karate guy, which I think makes the Karate guy hold back. I don't know, perhaps the TKD guy was holding back too.

In reality it’s a piss poor display of our TKD style. For one my instructor awarded me my first Dan after 18 months of training. In reality I was maybe at a green belt level. Thankfully I was able to train a couple years more and make some significant improvements. However I haven’t trained since about 2019.

    just like father meet son.. Tae Kwon do originally has Shotokan Ryu influences.. because Tae Kwondo in the old time was founded by korean Students which studies and colleges in Japan and okinawa.. 1945 they come bac home to korea and teaching korean shotokan karate then mixed with korean and Chinese martial arts become KTA/ Korean Tang Soo Do tang soo Do = Korean karate.. then in 1945 General Choi Hong Hee united korean Kwans / martial arts academy and nationalized korean martial arts in to Tae Kwon Do with formed in ITF/ International Tae Kwon do Federation. in 1950 Korea separated in to the North and south then in 1970 after ITF move to Canada then World Tae Kwondo has Formed now in korea has 2 different Styles Tae Kwondo.. ITF and World Tae Kwon do.. ITF much more traditional ways of Tae Kwon do Style and WT much more to Olympic style.. but both of Tae kwon do Styles basically has the same origin
