"If This is the Case, it's Better Not to Marry"
"For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she has married another man. Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another-to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God." Romans 7:2-4

The Bible ONLY mentions remarriage when the first spouse has passed, no other time. Remarriage while first spouse is alive is adultery says John the Baptist and he was killed for that position. He said it was “…unlawful for Herod to have his brother Philip’s wife” which means Herodias is still bound to Philip and Philip is still bound to Herodias in the eyes of the LORD though Herod and Herodias claim to be married to each other legally. Adultery IS unpardonable if it is continued without repentance, just like fornication, and homosexuality. Can’t keep it up after asking forgiveness a time or two. Don’t be misled or mislead others with your own understanding or an ear-tickling pastor, not worth the eternal risk. Bummer too because I have many family and friends that are in second or more marriages but refuse to hear the truth. Bless you!

As a Slavic Baptist church we were practicing the women’s head covering for as long as I can remember, so I thought it was a tradition. But recently I was studying 1 Corinthians myself and I realized that it is not just a tradition or cultural practice it’s the WORD of GOD that tell us to do so. So I preached about it in our church and the first person who came up to me and thanked me was my wife! She’s doing through almost the same thing her head cover is getting bigger and bigger :) I always remind myself and her that we must please God not people around us. Thanks for sharing your experience and God bless you, stay strong in the word of God!

Blessings. The Lord specifies that unless there is Adultery or harm or death, then you may not remarry. if your adulterous spouse is divorced from you then yes you can remarry. Also, divorce is a forgivable sin. Is remarrying a sin? only if the divorce is unbiblical and it may become an adulterous marriage. if there is no adultery death or abuse in a marriage, then there are no grounds for divorce even if you are unequally yolked. That is just nutshelling the teaching however It is always best to study the scripture for yourselves to get a better understanding and seek the Lord in prayer. God bless

It seems like you're reading the Bible as if it's a giant list of rules for Christians to follow. It's not that, which is why reading it that way leads to lots of confusion. Many Christians do the same, so you're not alone! That particular book is a letter Paul wrote, in response to a letter he received from the church in Corinth. Unfortunately we don't have their letter, so we have to guess at what exactly Paul was answering here. The best guess I've ever heard is that this passage is related to a Roman law that only respectable married women could wear veils, and that slaves and prostitutes could not. Perhaps Corinthian men were trying to enforce this law, creating class divisions within the Church, and Paul was telling them to stop and let women wear a veil if they choose, even if it's against Roman law. But being Paul, he tends to try to teach people how to think, rather than just dispensing rules. So it comes out pretty weird from where we sit.

But the Holy Spirit brought me to this and i too had a dream. where Jesus veiled me. thats when i went from a headband to a full covering. Also so many tell me that it isnt commanded but today the Lord said when is the women to wear it. i said while praying and prophesying. When are we to pray. well in 1 thess it says pray without ceasing so that is back up that we are to pray and wear it continually.

This teaching is from legalism and pharisaical. Most people do NOT want a divorce. Divorce happens because we live in a fallen world and are sinners saved by the Blood sacrifice and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. I was married to a violently abusive Pastor, and a good biblical one, who also had cheated. I prayed and fasted for years. He left, alcohol and two women later. Treated him biblically at all times. Tried to kill me. Succeeded in working me almost to death and broken back bones, trauma and more. He was adulterous. There is NO sin that is not forgiven when we repent - his, nor mine if I decide to remarry. And am NOT agreeing it is a sin to remarry. Christ died for EVERY sin, EVERY shortcoming of man, EVERY error, EVERY decision. THINK, and READ. Look at the Fathers in the Bible - Abraham, David, Jacob, and more. All adulterous men of multiple wives. Were they not forgiven? Do they not have an inheritance with Christ Jesus?? Despite many being well intended, such as this couple - Don’t let humans tell you what to believe, search the scriptures for yourself, and go back to the 1611 version or older - Geneva, Tyndall, Great Bible, etc.

I totally agree! And we must not confuse the terms. Marriage is a covenant, not a legal contract. "Divorce" is a legal term, not a covenant. If someone is remarried and their original spouse is alive it's adultery because the covenant still holds before God. Compare Hebrews 11 with Judges 11 and find that Jephthah's faith in "beholding Him who is invisible" was about him recognizing this attribute of God: a covenant cannot be broken. Some like Finny Curuvilla, therefore, take the 'exception clause' to mean that someone in a second marriage SHOULD divorce, since they are living in adultery! Either way, divorce is merely a legal separation of a covenant that should not be broken. They have two choices: reconcile or remain single. And if that sounds harsh, remember that marriage is NOT about our happiness! It may bring not, but primarily it's a mystery meant to reflect the relationship between Christ and His church. 😊

I think you (and the historical church) are mistranslating Jesus' statement: "Is divorce okay for any reason? No... only for Adultery." Adultery means, literally, "sexual sin", as you have stated here. However, God throughout the Old Testament refers to the Hebrew nation as committing adultery with other gods. This opens up a non-literal, metaphorical adultery, which would translate "severe violation of a covenant." God's complaint about the Hebrew nation in the Old Testament definitely fit that meaning. That would mean that non-sexual sin within a marriage could reach the level of covenant-violating infraction, and thus allow a victim spouse to flee an abusive or exploitative situation. The next question, then, is whether Jesus was using the literal or the metaphorical meaning of adultery when he made his statement. This will come down to a statement of faith. Do you have more faith in the Christian tradition of literal interpretation, or do you have more faith that the pattern of Jesus' overall conflict with the Pharisees and Teachers of the Law was the latter's pattern of over-literalizing The Law? Nothing I have said here says that divorce or remarriage, or first marriage for that matter, are decisions which should be made lightly or without the advice of wise counselors. Covenenants like marriage are weighty matters.

I'm not sure what to tell others about what they should do if they've already divorced and remarried. Apart from separating and confessing their sin of adultery/repenting. What about people that divorced and remarried before they became believers? Would that be different?

We are saved and have salvation through the blood sacrifice of Jesus the Christ. We are under the grace of God through the sacrifice of Jesus. God truly loves us. When we start arguing over what is clean and unclean we have lost. [2] One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. [3] Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. The plan of salvation is the plan of God reconciling all things to himself. The gospel is not that Jesus came to save us so we can go to heaven. The gospel is the good news that we can be citizens in His kingdom and partner with God as his ambassadors proclaiming His Kingdom realities and laws to our neighbors. When we start arguing over what the gospel is and over what God's laws are we've lost. There are some issues we should agree to disagree on (like keeping the Sabbath (Rom 14)), but we should all have unity on what the New Testament commands are because obeying God's commands is how we show love for God and for people (1 John 5). I like the saying "In NT commands unity, in extra-biblical teachings liberty & in all things charity."

Everyone is welcome in church but 1 Cor 5 explains how we have an obligation to handle people who call themselves Christians who call good evil and evil good. Most American churches would not allow a "Christian" pedophile to take communion in good standing with them. The reason should be because they are living in sexual immorality and we're called to obey 1 Cor 5. Dear Christian women. May the Lord bless you for wanting to obey His Word. The Truth hough is that a woman's hair is her covering and she should not cut her hair. 🙏🙏

That simply doesn't make sense. Hair is not the covering spoken about and you'd be the only person in the church to think that for over 1900 years.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and convictions. That RC Sproul clip you mentioned has been really helpful for me and my husband too. I'm so thankful to see people like you on UA-cam. I'm the only one who practices headcovering in my church of about 400 people and I feel really alone and strange sometimes. I know beyond a doubt that the Lord has called me to wear a headcovering and I'm walking in obedience, but it's hard at times.

God bless you. I began wearing mine in 1996 when I was 40. I am now 68. I am the only one at my conservative Baptist church who wears one. I don't mind. Nothing to be ashamed of. 🙏✝️🕊💜

Keep standing on the truth! Jesus is truly worthy! When did it become strange to do what Jesus wants us to do in his own church? Crazy, isn't it? Praying for more eyes to be opened and hearts to be softened.

Thank you for sharing about your journey on the head covering. I was part of a church where the women who were believer's wore a head covering and while I was part of that group, It was comfortable. After I left that group to go to another church, I continued to wear my covering even though no one else wore one. Sometimes I have felt self- concious, like how you said visible. I did not want to protray that I was spiritually better than anyone else, but I felt that this is what the bible taught, that a woman should cover her head, and I believe God has blessed me in this. Our covering speaks to those around us that we have a relationship with God, and they will often say God Bless you. It is a reminder to us to be faithful in how we represent our God.

I think trying both ways is good- whatever you’re convicted to do. overall I like the way where you can wear a head covering but actually see a woman’s long hair.

I’d also like to comment - thanks for sharing this recent video of your faith walk. Years ago I saw a few women on youtube/instagram stop covering their head and it’s just confusing after that and then what is the point of having hair if you’re covering your head and hair?

If I was God, I wouldn't ask women to cover their heads. But I believe God wrote 1 Corinthians and inspired godly women to cover their heads for over 1900 years. Sometimes we have to do things that don't make sense. His thoughts are above our thoughts and his ways are above our ways.
