Let me help you out. The meaning of this song is about a drug addict. The lyrics describe the visions and sensations a person feels when they are high on drugs. "My shape is shapeless in your suit" = A person stoned out of their mind and can't make out who people really are. "Chrome red eyeballs reflect and roll" = Bloodshot eyes when high on drugs. "When you're cruisin' down the street And takin' off the heat When you're on the moonlight run" = Time for more drugs, so the drug addict goes out at night when they can hide under the cover of darkness to make a run for getting more drugs. "Floating jets and big vignettes" = You could have thrown in purple bunny rabbits or whatever you want but the point is the person is looking at the sky and seeing planes and signs while high on drugs. "Get the treatment grab a cab" = What do you think Ric Ocasek is referring to here when he says "treatment"? DRUGS!!! "You always wait for better news" = Drug addicts tend to be depressed and looking for something to cheer themselves up. "You need a hit you need a slu-ug" = A "hit" refers to another dose of drugs. A "slug" is a slang term for a a subliminal message one might get from being high on drugs. "You don't easily get amused" = People stoned on drugs do not get amused/laugh easily. There you have it. It's all about a drug addict and what the symbolism and imagery this person is experiencing as well as their constant need to keep getting more drugs, hence the name "Cruiser". Always "cruising" for more drugs...
R.I.P Ben Orr! Big city noise disappears Sucker punch is in your heart Light is reason light is due My shape is shapeless in your suit Chrome red eyeballs reflect and roll A simple sun is slowly sinking Roman shoes and pretty hats Glitter bombs that beat the beat You comb the night 'cause you're a cruiser And ya you never get enough When you're cruisin' down the street And takin' off the heat When you're on the moonlight run (Cruiser) (Cruiser) Floating jets and big vignettes Get the treatment grab a cab Set aside the screaming fish Tell the world why you're so glad Flip the switches pull the plug You always wait for better news You need a hit you need a slu-ug You don't easily get amused Che You comb the night 'cause you're a cruiser And ya you never get enough When you're cruisin' down the street And you're takin' off the heat When you're on the moonlight run yeahhhhh (Cruiser) Well you're a cruiser (Cruiser) Cruiser (Cruiser) Cruiser (Cruiser)
Great band, beatiful Benjamin Orr🎸❤️🎙️(RIP🙏 divine Ben), The guitar is wonderful🎸 I love Elliot🎙️❤️, I love Greg🎹❤️, I love David🥁❤️, I love great and fabulous Ric Ocaseck 🎙️🎸❤️ RIP 🙏 I love you much The Cars forever and ever ❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘🤗🤗🌹🌹🌹👏👏👏👏👏
As I have heard the evolution of music from the late 70's to present day with bands like Gojira,L.OG.,Killer be Killed I still can play this song over and over💔
One of my favourites, the hypnotic keyboard by Greg gives it a pulsing rhythmic energy. I would guess that the band enjoyed playing this, as they seem fairly animated (unusual for them). And Ben puts it all out there with a well timed growl! ♥️
The growl, the “ do ya” the complete animated and vocal twists throughout make this the best version ever. Not to mention that hypnotic keyboard playing by greg. I always thought Ben loved singing this more than anything. What a great song.
Omg😱Ben was super handsome🥹and his wonderful, unique voice🫶🏼🤘
Crazy good 💥💟💛💖🍑💘💋💝🎹🎸
...One Of The Best Car's !!!

One the most best songs of The Cars! Awesome
Born in December 1972 this music-style is something special and full of MEMORIES for me...🥰
Does anyone know where this was filmed?
In New York, at Nassau Coliseum, on March 24, 1982 🙂
