I have a 2013 FIAT 500 Pop....had the same problem. Actually there is an Easy "non-mechanic" (trust me I'm not in any way mechanical) fix. I spent 20 minutes and $0.00 yesterday, then filled my tank and over 8½ gallons went right down my car's esophagus, smooth as silk. I just spent 15 minutes putting the back seat bottom back in today. I just had my 4th, yes FOURTH gas tank replaced in my 2013 Fiat 500 Sport. Also have had 3 charcoal canisters replaced as well. Enough is enough since the parts warranty is only 2 years, starting with the first tank replacement. Im selling the car before I have to start paying for parts again. Sucks because I love the car otherwise. :(

I have the same problem with my Toyota sequoia, all you need to do is turn off the engine open tank cap, wait for few seconds then close it again, start urcar and u r good to go

Fiat's are problem filled, Chrysler's are not. I had a Toyota once and it broke and I had to lemon it. None of my Chrysler's ever broke down. For me Chrysler is the best and most reliable.

Turn the gas pump handle so it's upside down in the car. Will work just fine that way. Found out in my Fiat 500X by accident, but t has always worked.

J Pun...my 2012 Fiat 500c started doing the exact same thing about a month ago and it happens at every single pump; I've tried a bunch of different pumps. I filled our other car yesterday at the exact pump I could NOT fill my Fiat at the day before. I'm really hoping it's a blocked up vent and not, as I've read in some other places, a messed up valve in the gas tank.

I have had 6 cars in 40 years of driving. Ford, Chevy. Chrystler and now Fiat. Two of the cars had this problem also, 1980 Mustang and the 2005 Uplander. In both cases I had to hold the gas handle up as high as I could as to not create back pressure to shut off the pump as a safety measure to prevent backflow. Nor could I use the auto fill feature of some pumps. I noticed that in the video the handle is held low. This is no doubt a design flaw. Think of the fill pipe as a tight 'S' shape that you are filling at the top curve. This may restrict the gas flow and trigger the safety shut off of the pump. I have not yet had this problem with the 2016 Fiat 500X yet - but then again I am use to holding the handle high and not using any pumps auto fill feature. It is frustrating - I know.

It's the gas pump goof...

This is a common problem across many brands. It's not only FIAT . It could be the pump volume being too high, the nozzle position in the tube, debris or spider infestation in the vent tube.

You are pumping at full volume or that pump has excessive pressure. Raise the pump handle and try to pump slowly. The car has no problem. This happened to my Ford ST. Raising the pump and pumping slowly prevents the gas from backing into the pump nozzle to make it "think" that the tank is full.

No problems in Europe so im guessing that gas station pumps are completely different standard. To big pressure at pump, and to little car hose to the tank. So Fiat should adapt the car to U.S. market...

Verify?? Verify?? Verify?? The Gas Station ( The Fox ) Said their pump ( The Hen House ) is working fine ? Dude... The station had their pumps safety shut off set extremely sensitive. This keeps Spill Over's from happening, or happening as often as they possibly could. Yea...the station pump's are working... Working for the freakin GAS Station! There was a miliion reasons not to buy a freakin Fiat... Let's start with Fiat is the gay brother of Chrysler...
