Self Publishing is great as long as you realize that your gonna be doing far more promoting of yourself all the time than actual writing; it's not actually a great vehicle for an author just starting out for that reason. However, being unburdened by these megalith corporations are also copyrights, for example Peter Pan's copyright just recently expired, this pre-established brand could be a great vehicle for a self published author and that's really where the future of self publishing is, these legacy intellectual properties.

Oh yeah, cause books get transported over the waves, and then get captured, and pirates are huge readers, and they tell their friends. And then their friends have a recommendation from a pirate, and you can't really pay for better PR.

It's free advertising and discoverability for them! Not only that, but the person who was accessing it for free may then later on buy it once they have the extra money to do so. Often it'll be the most passionate and loyal customers doing it, because they love what they're reading.

I write fiction and I sell my e-books on both Amazon KDP & D2D and I certainly can say that D2D is amazing in more ways than one plus Mark Lefebvre is very knowledgeable & valuable in the writing world. I write different genres but my main genre is Erotic-Comedy (i.e. funny erotica) and I publish those only on Amazon KDP and Smashwords (through D2D) as they are the only platforms who are a lot more relaxed about Erotica content. But, on an interesting note I have sold Erotica more on Smashwords/D2D than I have on Amazon KDP.

RE CRAVEBOOKS- I have NOT gotten any NEW contacts on my Mailchimp account since sending out several promotions of my books some weeks ago. Cravebooks said I would. Why is this?

Cravebooks seems like a good bet for authors. But is there really a good amount of readers in Cravebooks?

Thank you for sharing this video Dale that was very interesting with a lot of interesting information. Really liked the great advice given as well which we can all take to hand.

Julius Cesar, Hernan Cortes and many other leaders burned their ships to ensure victory over great odds. Though Dale says that given a do over, he would have continued working and built his platform up overvtime, I wonder if it would have been as successful because knowing you have a life line could cause you to make different choices thus reaping a different result.
