    Looks like a superior design... diamondbacks flat bar sleeve is a fail too...doesnt have padding on your leg side if you're a righty but is padded on tje side that hits your fastener bag...makes zero sense

      As simple as some of it seems, it really does take time to develop into a finished idea. I certainly owe a long-form video or two soon. Thanks for the comment

    I like the Velcro clip personally, for the times when wear a leather tool belt any clip pouches won’t work even if they fit on the leather belt they dig in your skin. but the clip works and is fast for when you have a belt inside the pad. They look good. eBay?

    • @clovisprojectdiy
      @clovisprojectdiy 29 днів тому

      There's advantages and disadvantages with each way to hang it. Velcro is going to stay good and still with my belt design having corresponding hook and loop around it. The clip makes it more modular, but it moves around on you a bit. I sell things directly off Instagram. Through direct messages. PayPal is how I've been taking payment. After Christmas I plan on doing a fair sized run of small items to restock. Thanks

    If you use car body filler in-between the glue you can step on the stair after 5 mins. Allowing you to walk up the stairs whilst the glue is going off

      Good tip. I've seen guys squirt a couple of dabs of hot glue much the same way. I shot a couple of nails under where the next riser overlaps to keep it from shifting. There were a few things I did to back up the joint in the tread as well, but it's a short, so the entire process wasn't shown. Can only fit so much in a minute of video. Thanks for the comment and the worthwhile tip. Have a good one.

      Tough material to make that happen with. The vinyl wrap is very much unforgiving. Not exactly any room for error with it. No "sand it out", no "just put some wood filler in it." On point is the only way with this stuff. Thanks

    Love it! Just stumbled across your videos looking to DIY my own stuff (low voltage guy currently running toughbuilt cliptech belt/pouches). Can I ask what material you're using for these pouches? I was looking at 1000D Cordura and cutting up old plastic jugs for the backing/reinforcing parts. And finishing around the edges with some webbing doubled over.

    • @clovisprojectdiy
      @clovisprojectdiy Місяць тому

      I'm using the cordura. Good luck with it all. Reinforced with milk jug plastic is actually a pretty boss diy move. Hopefully it works out well. Thanks by the way.

    This is awesome! I’m just starting to prototype to make my own bags, this is so helpful! What kind of foam do you use for backing of the bags and sleeves?

    • @clovisprojectdiy
      @clovisprojectdiy 2 місяці тому

      I'm using a closed cell foam. A combination of thicknesses. Mostly 1/8", but also 1/4. Soon I'll also be using 1/2". Current machine can't handle that thickness, and will soon be replaced. Thank you by the way. When I started, I didn't anticipate people finding my sewing videos helpful. Was simply figuring it would be fun to document along the way. If you are on Instagram, that seems to be a better "place" to go back and forth with messages. I'll be happy to share what little I can.

    I slide a piece of 1/8” PETG sheeting into the Badger bags sleeve, its tapered so I tapered my plastic piece so it gets tight, and stays in place. I had to heat it to collapse it enough to be as low profile as possible. Hate when it is a pain to get the hammer out.

    • @clovisprojectdiy
      @clovisprojectdiy 2 місяці тому

      Solid work around there. I'll keep at it with this design. I'll need to order up some lighter gauge kydex and play with it a couple more times, but I know I'm on it. I've made a few knife sheaths and a holster in the past, and have had the idea on the back burner for a chisel sheath. Drywall saw little guy could be a good one too. Thanks for the comment

    This is such a weird and confusing video. What is fake?

    • @clovisprojectdiy
      @clovisprojectdiy 2 місяці тому

      Nothing is fake.... since I have started making toolbelts, the single most common comment I receive is in regards to top brands' hammer sleeves being difficult to use with a rubber handled hammer. I am constantly asked if a martinez, will be easy to deploy from my sleeve. My standard sleeve has a piece of stiff 1.5 inch webbing as a spine to keep it open. This is very accommodating for the rubber handles. The example shown is a custom order for a guy, who told me that he would only be interested in making a purchase if I could beef it up even more as he hangs a framing nailer directly next to it on the rim of his pouch and hasn't been able to find anything that can withstand the pressure. I told him that I could put a kydex(holster plastic) insert into it. My goal is to bring attention to this issue that so many have already come to me about. All you need is a piece of webbing at the bottom of the sleeve to achieve a shape that makes a user friendly sleeve for a martinez customer(or in my case a kinetic customs). I am hoping to create a bit of change in the industry. People have come to me bothered with the fact that when asked for a solution to the sticky sleeve issue with brand x or brand y, that they have been told an option would be "wrap electrical tape around it". Any top brand should at this point realize that nobody is actually interested in wrapping tape around a $400 hammer just to make it work in a $40 sleeve. Thanks for the comment. Sorry I wrote a book just there...

    How can i order me a custom tool belt

    • @clovisprojectdiy
      @clovisprojectdiy 2 місяці тому

      I'm on Instagram. You'll need to go over there and message me directly. No website for a little while longer. Next month I'm moving into a shop. Still going to be moving seemingly slow, but I'm going to start working it to where I take a few orders while doing a batch of "standard" sets minus the belt(build to size once paid). It's tough right now to even estimate when a custom order could be built. I plan on reaching out to people that are waiting with an opportunity to buy a standard set before I release it to the public. This will be done on Instagram exclusively because of the ability to private message. Instagram- @clovisproject The sleeve shown in the video is not the standard sleeve. It will be an up charged item for the kydex insert... thanks

    I’d think that rigid construction would be more functional. But wouldn’t it also be alot less comfortable sitting between your leg and your bags?

    • @clovisprojectdiy
      @clovisprojectdiy 2 місяці тому

      Hey, Kaleb. Sure, you'll know it's there. This example is the 2nd attempt of this particular design. With the kydex being heat formable, it could be adapted to be rounded off at the bottom, possibly triangular pointing down. I made it square on this one. Also, with the angle, and where exactly my attachment points are, the sleeve is a bit more upfront rather than running directly across the thigh (typically). It's not going to be a standard thing. This is for a guy who requested it. The standard sleeve has a piece of stiff webbing as a spine, coupled with foam. Thanks for the comment, dude. I hope all is well.

    You wouldn't believe it, but I put all that and more in the back of my Honda civic wagon for years doing construction. "not enough room for drywall or other big material!" True, I put those in fairly lightweight 12' foot single axel flatbed trailer with overload springs. Only could haul 1/2 ton in trailer with full load of tools in car. But it got the job done for a LOT less than a big ol pickup.

    • @clovisprojectdiy

      Thank you. This is for a guy that hangs his framing nailer up front just next to the sleeve. He's to old to change his ways, so I have been tasked with this as a solution to his inability to comfortably draw his hammer when on the move. Magnets would be interesting up front at the mouth.... What was shown will by no means be a standard. Thanks again

    Thanks for your video. You are very creative. Could you make a solution for disabled person in wheelchair? A normal tool holster is not accessible in a sitting position. The tool holster would be on the side of the leg for example. It should be rotatable so that it works in sitting position.

    • @clovisprojectdiy
      @clovisprojectdiy 2 місяці тому

      I have a disabled father. I have been meaning to upgrade his walker setup. Right now he has a platform that I built. It goes across the top so he has a comfortable place to put a plate and a glass when eating. He will soon have a set of pouch like "walls" on each side for certain items. I would be honored to build you something out. Please look me up on Instagram. It is very easy to go back and forth in private over there. @clovisproject I could build you something that attached to the wheel chair as well if you were able to provide reference photos. All easily done. Directional holster clips are doable, and something I was thinking about early on. Much like what toughbuilt has....
