Ford has updated 6510 i think part number it pressed fit when you tighten it doen over the camshaft

You need to put locktite on those mating surfaces when you install those tab type pumps. Let it dry an hour before starting car. Then the tabs won't wear off and damage camshaft as well.

Agree leave the keyed ones alone. Go with the bolt up to cam ones. They are are available in aftermarket with bolt up instead of keyed. I got a bolt up type from Amazon $59 with 1 year warranty unlimited miles. Drive Motive is on box seller was Garage Pro out of Texas I think. Just finished the install. Get the thermostat housing o ring and the o ring that goes around the male part of the thermostat in the recess groove. Watch out you get the correct size. To thick and it will bunch up and come out of recessed slot and leak. Lubricate slightly with silicone not oil. Appreciate your video.

I don't have the link right off, but a Ford guy on YT has a video on this, ( Fordtechmakuloco), he's very knowledgeable. He says you should use the original Ford water pump, even though it will cost quite a bit more, it's important. I have a 2006 Ford 500 that I bought new. I haven't had to replace my water pump yet. The only out of ordinary maintenance I've had done is replaced the alternator. I keep up with maintenance on it regularly. I have around 165,000 miles now. How is your Ford 500 doing now? I think I know the solution: Even though the end of the camshaft has been sheared by the non original water pump. Can you simply go and buy the original water pump that bolts inside of the camshaft?

I bought a factory style with the bolt on ebay an fixed the issue. Done 6 months now not a single issue

Fords fix for this was to create a mountain out of a Mole Hill by changing to the 3.5 liter with a water pump run off of the timing chain INSIDE the Engine, which costs 1500 to 2000 to have replaced. The Dura Tech 3.0 was a good engine and should have simply had a Huge warning Label under hood stating to ONLY USE A FORD OEM WATER PUMP AS A REPLACEMENT.

Must not have done your research before purchasing. All over the web are complaints about it stating the same thing. Just throw an oem one in it with a bolt and g2g

Go to carparts.com. They sell quality parts for a really good price. They have that same water pump except with the bolt to the camshaft for 100 bucks.
