Brisbane to Cape York and The Tip. Our journey up the East coast of Australia.
This is the story of our epic, month-long, journey up the East coast of Queensland, Australia, from Brisbane to Cape York and The Tip, a return journey of over 3,500 miles including our diversions to various islands, waterfalls and other places of interest. We travelled on trains - mainly The Spirit Of Queensland, assorted ferries and boats, coaches, Becky’s 4wd Jeep, two amphibious vehicles and a golf buggy. Only the golf buggy let us down; although The Spirit of Queensland was consistently late. The Tip, the northernmost point of Australia, is the land that Tarmac forgot, reached by miles and miles of dirt roads, cutting through the bush. It was an adventure, rivers and rainforests, heat and dust, beaches and bush. If the Australians could get out of the habit of closing bars at the same time small children go to bed in the rest of the world, they could be a proper tourist destination.

Becky Does Belfast
Переглядів 1652 роки тому
A few days in the marvellous city of Belfast with our daughter, who was visiting from Australia. Most of her month in the UK was spent complaining about the cold and depleting the world's precious gas reserves in an attempt to replicate the temperature of an antipodean summer.

Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park. Bird Feeding Station.
Переглядів 792 роки тому
Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park is situated on the outskirts of the industrial town of Billingham in the North East of England. Recently a new bird feeding station was added to compliment the lake, ponds, reed beds and woodlands. This is just a small sample of the bird species which are attracted to the feeders, filmed over an hour or two, one afternoon in January. Over 45 different species of bird...
A Boat Trip Off The North Yorkshire Coast.
Переглядів 613 роки тому
We went for a trip out to sea, hoping to see whales and dolphins off the coast of North Yorkshire, leaving from the village of Staithes with Sean from realstaithes.com/ . Unfortunately the sea mammals had other ideas and despite the best efforts of Sean and his technology, we failed to spot any. Sean is an entertaining guide and we still enjoyed our few hours on his boat, the weather was excell...

Greatham Creek Greatham Creek is a tidal tributary of the river Tees, in North east England, feeding into the Tees estuary close to where the river meets the North Sea. A Frosty Day In Billingham Beck Valley.
Переглядів 1503 роки тому
Keeping it very local in the latest lockdown, less than half a mile from the front door. Billingham Beck Valley Country Park as it is known nowadays, it was just "down the beck" when I was a kid, is a little sanctuary for wildlife, mainly birds but also water voles, weasels, rabbits, hares, the odd deer and plenty of small mammals to keep the sparrowhawk from going hungry.

Three days in Northumberland, September 2020. Exploring Seahouses, Bamburgh, Budle Bay, The Farne Island and Lindsifarne (Holy Island). The weather wasn't too kind to us the first day but it did improve for the remainder of the trip. Just in case you are watching this twenty years in the future, everyone is wearing masks because of the coronavirus, Covid 19 pandemic. If you are watching this eo...

Autumn in August? Terra Trailblazers August 2020 riding
Переглядів 204 роки тому
I guess 2020 will be a memorable year, for obvious reasons to do with the pandemic but to me it’ll always be the year autumn started in August. There have been two named storms, Ellen and Francis and plenty of unnamed freak weather days, mainly cold, wet, windy or any permutation of the three. A few hot days sneaked in but were generally followed by several more days of grim and grey to stop us...

Nice video. Can't find the bird feeders
Opposite the entrance to the car park, there is a tall, pedestrian gate. Go through the gate and the feeders are in the trees on the right.
How many weeks we're you there. I'm planning 3 weeks South to North at the end of May on my own. I bought my flight yesterday 🤗🇻🇳
Hello, we were there for two weeks, in retrospect, three weeks would have been the ideal length.
Our biggest disappointment during our very similar trip, recently, was the discovery that the Grace Darling Museum at Bamburgh is CLOSED on a Saturday in high holiday season. What on earth????
SO annoying and a ridiculous choice for closing .🙄
Thanks for your honest and realistic review John!
Fabulous
If you are watching this eons in the future after the pandemic wiped out all human life on Earth, ....all hail our new Womble overlords!!
Nope, it’s still the idle, feckless, corrupt Tories. For now.
I loved the video. Given the choice of going to Lindisfarne or the Farne Islands; which wins out? Time wont allow a visit to both.
If you like bird watching, Farne Islands, there's not much else there. Otherwise Lindisfarne.
@@johnlavelle9961 thank you
@@johnlavelle9961 I agree totally.
Gannets look so powerful and so graceful at the same time.
Absolutely stunning film. Thanks for posting. Hoping to get to Bempton again soon.
Great photography John, the Squirrels and Rats are being too well fed there, they are getting too fat.
Excellent vid of the Northumbrian coast!
Great photography John, keep the videos coming, I always enjoy your work.
What lens were you using for the flight shotss John? I'm hoping my 120-400 will be enough when I visit next year.
I used a 70-350 on a crop sensor Sony A6400. The gannets are really close, your lense will be fine.
Wow
I'm swimming their next week
Swim with the seals off the Farne Islands ...they love socialising 🤍
My favourite place in Yorkshire, my 1950's childhood holidays where spent there and at Saltwick bay near Whitby, keep your videos coming John they are great, love to see one of Saltwick bay.
Glad you enjoyed it, will have a look at Saltwick Bay.
Great video. I was there thursday.
Bempton is an amazing place, the sheer numbers of birds is incredible.

Great film John, I really enjoyed it and did not want it to end. I must get out with my camera.
I enjoyed your video John, what camera equipment did you use.
Now then Paul, hope you are well. I used a Sony A6400 with 18-105mm and 70-350mm lenses, a Mavic Air 2 drone and a couple of Go Pro's. Edited in Premiere Elements.
@@johnlavelle9961 impressive kit,
Another good video John, glad you are still getting out and about and enjoying life after Growhow.
Cheers Paul. Hope you are keeping well.
