Unveiling The Must-know Truth: Do You Really Need A Bike Helmet By Law?
Definitely would use the visor. It would be a plus if it was available tinted ... No more sweat streaking my regular glasses !
+@jeffdavis6275 would be really cool if it was transitions type visor!
Looks like I've got a base for my new Dorkomitron helmet.
So that’s a “no” then?😂
@@cyclecrafttv A maybe leaning into a yes, if it was a good all weather lid. My current Dorkomitron helmet is a pith helmet with a GoPro attached.
In my experience, the strap on the pith helmet isn’t as comfortable as the magnetic strap on the Ethos.
ahh im so happy this video got uploaded right after i finished the first part! I'm getting my first bike soon after riding Citibikes for years and I'm in the market for some head gear :D
The lights are a pretty great addition!
I'd use the visor. I'm shopping for a 🚲💨 helmet. Going on my 2nd road tour. Projected miles; under 400 miles from Salt Lake City to Navajo Nation 🇺🇲💨 next spring. Thank you sir.
Part 2 of the review will be out this week. Definitely some pros and cons. Stay tuned!
TY
You’re welcome!
You say now and round like my grandmother she was from Pittsburgh. Great video sir
So I have been successful covering my Long Island accent 😉Thank you for the feedback and for watching
The manual seems to say that a light comes on when the helmet is charging but this does not seem to be the case for ny helmet. Do you have a light that vomes on?
Yes, there’s a tiny led next to the charge port. I thought the same thing when I first plugged it in. You really have to be looking for it.
@@cyclecrafttv Thank you. I had an interesting experience. When I used a USB-C - USB-C cable the charging would not work and the light did not come on. When I used the USB-A to USB-C cable that comes with the helmet, the charging worked and the light came on. You do have to bend down to see it. Also, I now know that when the battery is run right down it lets out 6 loud beeps!
Add some luminescent strips to your bike and go full Tron!!
It looks like a good helmet, for sure. The visor should be removable and be able to be replaced by a smaller sun shield, like my Bell. It would probably do well, keeping debris and dust out of your eyes, if you are riding on a trail. The lights are cool, but I’m not too sure about the turn signals. I always use proper hand signals, when riding. Either way, I’ve been hit twice, so I’d rather look a bit goofy than be injured or killed on my bike.
Looking funny definitely better than getting hit!💯
Yes as a matter of fact it is too much to ask
Gosh, that might be the most selfish thing I’ve heard in a while.☹️
100 percent ❤
I've been riding a mountain bike for over 6 years and it's shit compared to driving I have my lisence now I'm not dumb enough to ride on the road it's for the car I'm always going to drive when it's more then half a km unless my kids want to ride even then I'll drive them to where we can ride safe and not be unsafe and ride on the road then get shity at cars for not moving in nsw Australia now if the pishbike rider isn't or can't do the speed limit then get off the road
Maybe as an alternative idea, we can just make space for everyone and just hold everyone accountable for driving and riding sensibly. Long mileage intercity trips are better by car or train but in town? Cars are not the right answer.
Bikes shouldn't be on the road
We’ll just have to agree to disagree on that one!
Is good to know until they find reasons to constrict the joy out of riding an electric bike. I don’t think is climate change usually about money.
Until who decides that?
I think it's a nice thought, but that it won't do as much as people think because none of climate science is settled science.
Forget about the climate part then. Just for your own saving money and resources, a pedal assist e-bike can save you money and increase your mental and physical well being. If the climate benefits? Great! If it doesn’t? Still great!
@@cyclecrafttv Yeah, that was always allowed.
I love riding my bike and i appreciate you saying that it depends on where you live. Its not possible in some places and lets be honest weather. I live in the midwest and your shop is in new jeresey, snow sucks lol
Yeah weather can be challenging but imagine if you eliminated even 30% of you car trips for the 6 or 7 months you could do it feasibly! Every bit is a net positive .
wait but didn't you say in the last video that you were using a 10 speed crankset for this build so maybe if you had used a 12 speed one it would shift with one click and you didn't need to trim.
True enough! I don't think that would really impact the issue though. The trim clicks are built into shifter and are really there to accommodate chain line differences from low gears to high gears.
OKK
Thirty years ago when rims were soft they couldn't usually have even spoke tension all the way around. Once the wheel was straight and round, it was what it was. Modern rims seem very quick and easy to build, but they probably need extra work to even up the spokes. Old, soft rims were out of true with the slightest adjustment.
+@lovenottheworld5723 you ain’t kidding! When I went to DT Swiss training the tolerance single wall steal rims was 2 or 5mm if recall. Tolerance for a modern alloy rim with machined side wall is .5mm!
Bike looks awesome! I have Tracer 27.5, looking to get a Primer 29 next! Great color scheme btw!
+@svtkiller02 it’s killer!
Garbage
+@user-ct4jc3te7j Ouch! That’s a little harsh. Have you had this bike?
One would think that a company with their history would take customer service seriously - they DON'T - Beware!
+@jamesbrittain9564 did you have a problem with their product?
Yeah, um. You sound pleasant. I'm sure that they treated you accordingly.
@@ericbeech2652 Your one of those I see - doubting those that carry truth.
@jamesbrittain9564 you left a negative comment on this channel. The channel kindly asked you about the issue that you encountered, and you ignored them. You responded immediately when someone called you out for YOU being the problem.
@@ericbeech2652Wow! Dog those who speak truth - tells you all we need to know about you.
thank you rehab is a slow process I needed to hear so much of what he just saiaid thank you both so much
+@CreativeFishDesignsCharlotte it seems so impossible at the beginning but if you hang in there you come out better!
Do you recommend charging the batteries after each ride and maintaining them fully charged if you ride daily?
+@afshinghafouri6984 There’s no harm to doing it and I personally like starting my rides with a full charge.
Well done
+@joehoeper4648 Thanks!
I think it would be a good idea if the cone nut and outer nut had an alignment mark. This way you'll know the factory tightening nut setting.
+@ebikescrapper3925 the trick would be that the adjustment changes with wear.
It would give a good indication on where to start the adjustment. Thanks for replying.
Really like the way you explained this. Subscribed and keen for more.
+@noconcept5735 Thank you! Working on a new drop as we speak
Put your charger on ac timer to make sure it gets turned off
+@rcwck Actually not a bad strategy at all!
I love the fact that you climbed under the truck just to get that shot❤
+@Steely_wire54 It’s method acting. I’ve actually been there!
@@cyclecrafttv great job brother and ride safe
Do you even ride, or is all this energy and hype nothing more than a way to sell more crap?
+@brianbassett4379 I ride all kinds of bikes! Lately working back from broken clavicle but, yeah, you name it I’ve ridden it.
+@brianbassett4379 worth mentioning also that I’ve been fixing bikes for 30 years. But for transparency I do also sell bikes. Sorry if I seem hype-y but, I do loves me some cycling.
a lot of sound...and a lot of drag....that thing slows down fast.
+@skinny8019 it’s all about that pedaling though!
If you use threaded headset common problem is setting the stem too high above insertion line, that damages the threads
+@romanmentor9238 not to mention the risk of the stem disengaging from the head tube. Always mind the safety line!
Also, not all brake discs are compatible with sintered brake pads! 👏 Make sure your discs are compatible before you replace your pads on your bike or else you’ll have a bad time, they will fuck up your discs and you will have little metal shavings all up in your hub and shit. There are three different types of brake pads. Organic (softest), resin and sintered (hardest). Resin pads are perfectly fine for most people and most uses.
+@UskInaTE good point on the rotors! I did fail to mention that.
I’d love to see a video on hub adjustment and preload taking into account that the quick release adds another load on the bearings
+@mattflanagan7519 stay tuned-it’s coming!
nice a actual sound clip! good job!
+@abbittwilkerson2388 🙏thanks!
Industry Nine SOLiX G sound check. ua-cam.com/users/shortsiO1ym3hI4lY?feature=share Mounted with a tire and on the bike. More quiet than hydra.
i need to get some cone spanners i have cheap hubs tho so if i slightly over tighten its not too bad , been wanting to build my own wheelset and the only affordable reputable hubs are shimano cup and cone hubs a part 2 in my case isnt needed but i would like to see it as not many people know how to set up thier bearings
+@donavinnezar The Shimano hubs are actually pretty nice! Not too expensive and very durable.
Good information to know for sure, I would watch a part 2.
+@BodieOutdoors we’ll have to get that together!
Yes sounds good and also talk about preload
+@tonygenovese6239 I think a part two is in order!
Yes please!
+@dragon2755 one for road and one for gravel?
in the case of sram hydraulics , metallic all the way , shimano or tektro im fine with resin
+@donavinnezar That’s a solid plan!
Metallic all the way
+@giancarloespejo2223 👍
Incorrect. There are many scenarios where resin is the better choice.
Metallic all the way
+@giancarloespejo2223 I tend to recommend metallic as well! But some folks don’t like the scrapey sound.
I'm so disgusted to learn the hard way, that a flimsy kickstand can lead to a tipped over bike... which can lead to a bent derailleur... which can lead to the derailleur bumping bike spokes... which can lead to broken spokes... which can lead to a messed up wheel needing overhauling... and need for a new derailleur (eventually, after enough years of bending the hangar back, & more & more falls... until you are finally fixing the whole bike)... & concern about the chain being twisted out of shape... , & PRAYING all the way home.... & some serious swipes into the aluminum frame, getting thin spots... I'm Kick stand shopping right now at the SAME time I fix all these other parts... or maybe to mod the one i have with addition of a rubber tip used on crutches. Definitely LOVE kickstands. They are your friend. Blessings. Peace.
+@cchemmes-seeseeart3948 and good kickstands are not that costly!
Definitely a great investment. @@cyclecrafttv
Spot on!! Great video!! thanks
Thanks for watching!
How awesome ❤❤
Thank you!
Thank you!
+@lekobiashvili945 Happy to help! 😀
Nice. I've never understood the mini-pumps. I have the full sized frame pumps from Zefal and they work just fine and pump a tire up fairly quickly. Way less work than a mini-pump. Either way, I have a nice floor pump at home and carry everything that you mention in the video. Better safe than sorry.
+@johnandrus3901 some folks don’t like the aesthetics of the full size frame pump but there’s no denying it works way better!
Excellent. A little pace-line story. I was riding in TOSRV and we had a nice pace-ling going. We were cruising at a real fast pace, when we hear 'On your left'. Going past us was a line of tandems. It was almost like we were standing still. I vowed to eventually get a tandem and later found one at my local shop that a gentleman was selling after his boy got into other things that kids do. It is a fun bike to ride.
+@johnandrus3901 I love riding our tandem!
Whats the author of the book you mentioned?
+@joselarrarte6964 Jobst Brandt.
Best option or suggestion for having a custom battery made?
+@UrDadsFavouriteMaleEscort Not sure about that! You would need someone who understands what needs to be done to get voltages correct and regulated, and is able to wire in protective circuits to avoid overloads. I personally don’t know anyone like that. I would start with an electrical engineer though.
