0:10 Those "spikes" were not part of the aircraft, those are spikes for pigeons to impale themselves on.

One of my Hot Shot F/Os used to Fly this Rocket in low level speed trials on The Lake trying to break the LA Speed Record. He confided in me that once it was all set that you don't move anything. You just think it!!!!!!! One Fast Aircraft!!!

Curious as to the selection process of the museum. They look like they roll em straight from AMARC and pull off the spray lat. I’m surprised they didn’t go for 500 side number aircraft that has a little more flair in the paint.

There is one of these on display at the airport entrance where I used to work. It was supposed to go into the city park but a religious group objected. I got into the cockpit while it was being prepped for display to check it out.
