After seeing this advert with the wrong music I felt compelled to make a new soundtrack for it... Original boring version here... ceron.jp/url/ua-cam.com/video/zM00rHX0owQ/v-deo.html

I was there too. One of the first shows without Gordon and with the extra horn section
Mavers voice send by the gods
Some times a song comes along that brings you to tears of joy and sadness, an absolute Masterpiece .Thank you lads .❤
Did anyone else play with them on this night?
Was there for ride/lush awsome thank you!

Never hear there songs on local and national Radio in the Uk 🤔 these days such a shame
It’s too good to be played to the same cunts who pay for Ed Sheeran
Can't think of another band that makes me feel so nostalgic, in a really good way.
Is lee tuned down a whole step or something? I notice hes doing an A chord shape where I would normally do a G to play this song
Half a step
God great sound, glad it's not coming from a potato-corder
Where’s the rest of the video of this show? Certainly it exists somewhere.
Those early years - the best era in their career - fast and frenzied before they later drifted into their laid back slower ‘Carnival’ phase !
Well this jogs the old memory. If this was actually June of '92, I was there. They sounded just as great last weekend here in NYC - 30 years and still going strong!
Sooooo glad I got to see them in Chicago!
They should have become one of the biggest bands…. Along with Echo and the Bunnymen
While I agree with you, I do believe that’s what makes these “could’ve been a contender” bands so much better.
@@larrydanadavid2435If they’d have made it too big, they’d have inevitably been pressured to bring out more and more and the quality would have dipped and their mystique extinguished. The only band to avoid that is the Beatles who got better as they went on. The La’s are special because they’re the underdogs.
Amazing singer. Sounds exactly like the album but he's not lip syncing.
I have the jimmy olson blues 💙
omg i'm so happy to have found this as i was there! (actually for the Pale Saints but was pretty blown away by the headliner too obviously :). i do feel like this might've actually been the summer of 1992, however. thank you for uploading this!
If this was a 60s tune. The lads are fkn brilliant
who knows
Must have been 89 when I got to see them in the flying picket Liverpool. Saw them again in 2005 Manchester Ritzy. Used to love these guys.
Fkn brill
I was there! They played with The Pale Saints. What a banger!
bloody gem this
A brilliant album full of great songs - it’s a pity that whoever produced it made such a mess and they delayed it coming out.IMO
Lee Mavers also scrapped the Mike Hedges version simply because his bandmates went on holiday without him. He even admits this in "In Search Of The La's." I think the truth is he didn't want fame and he knew that his talent would lead to it so he found any excuse to sabotage The La's chances.
@@thegoodsgone1965Is the Mike hedges version knocking about anywhere?
@@tomben6180 yeah mate, I'll put the link below. Only thing is the original master tapes were stolen (the stealing of La's tapes is something that happened a number of times, I almost feel like Lee was behind it haha) so the mix is based off a rough cut kind of thing. ua-cam.com/video/dVmIZa-inqI/v-deo.htmlsi=KtZDcPy502-c5yTu
@@thegoodsgone1965 Cheers mate will check it out. I find it both hilarious and astonishing that Mavers tried to sabotage his own success 😂
@@tomben6180 no worries. Yeahh, he said in the Isle Of Noises interview that he doesn't want to be a star, I think he's just content going about his life which is fair. He's been back in the studio this year though which was cool to see.
Was this the old 9:30 club on F Street? I think I was at that show, Came across this randomly today. Thanks.
Almost forgot to watch this today
I almost brained myself on the videographer's footrest, pogoing skyward as this song started.
Second hit off their sadly one and only record...brilliant!
This is how it should have been recorded in the first place live and natural no stupid studio tricks .
is the whole gig anywhere??
Wish there were more..! Great show, great video quality!
The Las are fucking genuis.
How on earth did I miss this!
Perfection in a song, we still need The La's today..
Where the heck is the bass player in this video ?
1:55
full recital ? good audio and video !! awezome ♥
This is the best version I've seen
I saw Ride at the 9:30 club in 1991. Lush opened up. Amazing show, guessing it was this one.
Lovin cammy on this fantastic sound .. so right for the tune..
Awesome show! I suspect this show is from 1992, as they didn't open with LTAB in 91 shows. I can't make the setlist match the band's archives or any reference. I saw them in ATL in 1991 at Cotton Club and the night before this in ATL and several times on 2019 tour. AMAZING band!
I think they did after they toured the US in 1991
One of the best debut albums of all time Liverpool xx
Love you posted this, but why is JP on bass barely in it? He was a friend of my cousin. When they came to toronto my brother and I went early to lee’s palace for the sound check. We took a case of beer and hung out on the tour bus before and after the show, and then back at their hotel. A friend with us gave Lee an Ontario Brewers’ Retail shirt that he was wearing as he came straight from work. Have seen pictures of Lee in that shirt from later shows. Sound lads all of them. I’m a doctor, just a resident back then. John had a wrist tendinitis that I helped him with. A couple of years later he came back with Cast. Recognized me at the sound check as ‘dale’s cousin who fixed his wrist and put me on the guest list. Took the drummer of cast, another friend of my cousin (I’m from the Liverpool area originally - out drinking - and for dinner -before the show). Another great night. The La’s were a special band for sure. And just great grounded northern lads too.
Most likely JP was in a blind spot behind the pole. There are a few positions on stage the camera can't see.
@@jimmycohrssen Makes sense. Famous club. I have a live CD of Luna there.
It's 1992! Thanks.
Saw them in 1989...I honestly thought I was witnessing the future of rock n roll. I was astounded by this band, I bought all the singles (apart from the first, "Way Out" which for some reason was impossible to find in Belfast) and the eponymous 1st. album...then it was all over. Such a loss. Lee Cavers was/is a major talent that for whatever reason faded as quickly as he flourished. Forget The Stone Roses and Oasis, this was my band for a brief moment in my youth.
The La's were too good to be true.
Where did you see them
