    My only complaint here is "Ah-DAHL-fo" vs a longer "A" sound. Seth is saying it the proper way but doesn't correct the student's vowel sound. Makes me a little bit crazy. But I'm a huge Seth fan, generally. He really has a good balance of practical technical work with "internal" acting work. Also, though, this is a wildly inappropriate song for this student except if he's auditioning for a very narrow range of roles. This kid would be far better served by "Tonight at 8" or "Grow For Me", or hell for drama, even "Drink With Me" or the like. What role would he possibly be using this song to audition for? He clearly has talent, and it's always worth learning songs you would never actually sing on stage, but if this is an audition masterclass, this song would be a terrible choice.

    Images Shmimages!! There’s a specific technique to holding a long note: hold the diaphragm steady, focus the air on the hard palate for resonance, let the air out slowly, as in letting the air slowly out of a balloon. I have an example here of me singing along with Streisand. Obviously, she’s a megastar and I’m not, but the technique is the same: ua-cam.com/video/rNymbnnI8ho/v-deo.html

    Wow! You are amazing! Why are you putting all of this out there FOR FREE?! Oh! I know! You have what I call a Theatre Heart! My daughter is 12 and has been auditioning for Broadway shows since she was eight years old. She has done two national tours and continues to audition in hopes of a big break on the Big White Way :-) We are in a small town in the south so the NYC pro influences we need are few and far between. I am going to share all of your videos with her!

  • @sugarhoneyicedtea123

    She's fine, she's young and still has a lot to learn but as soon as Seth gives her a new critique she forgets the one before that. It bothers me when kids get to work with AMAZING coaches, or any coach for that matter and they don't give it a thousand percent much less a hundred. These classes aren't cheap and if you have the chance to learn from the best you should soak up every ounce of time that you have with them. Their word is worth more than gold in the business.

      @@bigred8432 I agree that he was probably best the first time, but Seth gave valuable advice that he can take home and work into his performance. And I think an actor has to be ready for ‘suggestions’ from who they are auditioning for. “That was great. Do it again, just like that, but just a little bit angrier.” You get shit like that a lot. Don’t let it throw you. Make it a little ‘angrier’ if you can, but above all keep if funny.

    As a professional performer or you wanting to be one, being sick is not an excuse! Especially in the professional world.

    • @aud6976
      @aud6976 7 років тому

      Being sick is no excuse? Singing while having a cold, and ending up with vocal cord nodules, putting you out of the game for a couple of months if you're lucky. Stay safe, and don't sing when your voice is sick.

    • @SeanMiguelPerez
      @SeanMiguelPerez 7 років тому

      No it's not because if you're sick and you're off for a period of time, good luck getting your spot back because your understudy is better than you. #byegirl if you get nodules on your vocal *FOLDS* as a result of singing with a cold, then you have incorrect technique and you need to go get lessons.

    • @SeanMiguelPerez
      @SeanMiguelPerez 7 років тому

      This is not bullying - it's reality. if you're sick, then be sick, but don't expect your role to be there when you get back - especially if your understudy is better than you. Plenty of performers still go on stage while they're sick whether it be there's no understudy to cover your track, there's not enough people in the ensemble to cover their tracks or for fear that their spot will be taken by the understudy.

    • @sophia.c7318
      @sophia.c7318 5 років тому

      *_That’s basically like saying: “If you lose your voice... you still have to sing! No excuse!”. Actually, it depends on what type of illness you have most of the time, so yes... you are kinda correct because YOU could lose your role._*
