I chose six books for this month (from both my physical and Kindle Unlimited TBR) because I like to keep it real and I don't like to overwhelm myself.

Started the week off thinking I was in the mood for small town romance but quickly realized that, no I was actually wanting vampire romance. The Poisoner was on my kindle and begging me to read it. In Strasbourg, I couldn't resist popping into the local bookshops and found the most adorable café to sit and read while drinking a coffee. Are you a mood reader? Hey friends, This week I’ve been diving into romance books on my Kindle, with the French scenery making it all feel so magical. I even went to see a centeries old castle that felt like it was ripped straight from one of the romantasies I’ve read! Of course, I had to hit the beach too - soaking up the sun and sipping on some yummy cider. 🍎 (Normandie is known for its delicious cider) This week I...

Great tbr! 🍂
Thank you!! 😊 I’m excited to read it! Have you read any of them?
@@Bookish_melissa Yes, I have read Emma and the Secret History. I loved reading Emma. I also have the Book of Azrael on my tbr.
Forget the TBR, you seem to be aging downwards?!?! GORGEOUS 😍
Oh my gosh Natt thank you!I turned 43 this month so I needed to hear that. 🧡
Looks like a great list!!
Thanks! I agree. Now that I’m not reading just indie authors it helps!
“what’s up with Tamlin?”😂😂😂
hahaha right? I can't wait to read book two so I know what the heck is going on with that dude.
Maybe try Boox products
Great review
Thank you so much!
Feyre is still annoying in my head 🤣
Omg I'm so glad I'm not the only one! She did get better towards the end but still...not my fave.
Welcome to the ACOTAR fan club 🙂
Hahaha! Thank you! I have felt left out for so long.
I am in the middle of reading ACOTAR series for the first time- I’m on book 3!!
What do you think so far? I need to get to book two because I am really needing to know how this Tamlin thing crashes and burns.
ACOTAR book 2 is the best...and we don't like Tamlin :P
I am so excited to read it! I thought Tamlin was so nice then he just sat back and did nothing! I was like, yeah, booooo...
Happy late bday!
Thank you so much!!
The only reason I got a Note Air 3 over the Scribe is because I want to be able to annotate in all of my books. I literally had the Scribe in my cart ready to check out when I found out that I couldn't do that, and that killed the sale. I think it has to do with Amazon's DRM.
Great Vlog! i hope you had the best birthday!! Can't wait to see what you pick up going forward. I should also pick up that book Trespasses, i haven't heard of it but i'm from Belfast so it would be such an interesting read!
Thank you so so much!! Let me know if you get Trespasses. I'd love to read it with you.
Yes! Audiobooks motive me to do house work too😂
Right?? It helps so much. Ps...i'm listening to ACOTAR!
@@Bookish_melissa I can’t wait for all your thoughts
Hope you had a wonderful birthday!! Bookshopping on your birthday sounds perfect. I'm actually reading the sequel to A Dawn of Onyx right now and am enjoying the series alot! The third book in the series comes out next month. Excited to hear your thoughts!
Thank you so much!! And that’s good to know about the series!! I’m excited to start it.
Love the hair refresh! I hope you had a lovely Birthday! 🥰 Also very excited to see what your thoughts are on Leather & Lark 👀
Thanks friend!! And same! I hope I like it. 😬
Happy Birthday!
Thank you!!
This was a great review. I’ve actually loved the Scribe from day one. Not for it’s note-taking capabilities, which do leave much to be desired, but just as a very large e-reader. Love all the text that can fit on one page, and really enjoy the dual-page layout when in landscape mode, which makes it feel more like you’re reading an actual physical book. And the battery life is wonderful compared to my Oasis, which I use when I want a more portable reading experience.
Thank you for the compliment! I haven't actually used it in landscape mode...I'll give that a try!
yep the purple and the bangs are IT for you!💕
hehe Thank you!!!!
Love the hair!! I’m so curious about lights out now so I’ll definitely be checking it out! 💕
Thank you! And yay! Let me know what you think.
I'm sorry you had such tough reading week!! I hope whatever you pick up next is a win. When I'm reading indie, I mainly reach for fantasy romance and most of the contemporary romance I read is traditionally published. If I come across any indie contemporaries that I love I'll pass them along. Have a great week!!
Oh it’s ok. It’s bound to happen. I would love any recommendations! Thank you!
you would have to be a heavy note taker to appreciate the scribe. It's unlimited notebooks and book library in one device. Just for reading, it's not going to be a comfortable experience because it's relatively heavy.
I love doing crossword puzzles on mine as well.
I have added so many books to my TBR!!
Muahahaha!!!
I started listening to Lights Out because I heard Jacob Morgan was an amazing narrator but the trigger warnings had me so nervous. I chickened out lol.
okay after watching more of the video I might end up reading it!!
Haha I really think you’re going to like it. I have read some pretty dark stuff and this was not anywhere near that. I appreciate the trigger warnings but I don’t think they are totally accurate.
Reading on the Scribe is lovely, but I wish that Amazon would look at their competitors. The Boox Note Air has fantastic functionality. You can write on ANY document. You can have drawings with layers. The interface makes sense (based on Android - the Kindle interface has got steadily worse and less intuitive). Change the orientation to landscape and it automatically changes the page. All this stuff is possible - and Amazon keep fiddling with a UI that is now deeply substandard.
Bangs looks so good on you 😊
Thank you so much Mariana! I feel like I’m still figuring them out but I’m getting there.
I love that you focus on indie books!! Definitely adding Lights Out to my wishlist! 😏 I've only read two stalker dark romances...didn't love either of them lol BUT it was more to do with the male characters themselves versus the act of stalking, so it sounds like I might like Lights Out 🤞🏻And the bangs are super cute! I've had bangs for forever, hair spray is typically my best friend or a very light application of some sort of pomade to keep them in place. The heat and humidity is the literal bane of my bang existence 😑 so very happy the weather will be cooling off soon! lol
Hi Jensee! Yes totally add Lights Out, it really isn't that dark in my opinion. It has a great story and the characters are actually likable. And I love your bangs! Uhg...the humidity. It's so bad here. I will have to try pomade to keep them where I want them. Thanks for the tip!
@@Bookish_melissa Thank you 💕and you're very welcome! I hope it helps! 🤞🏻 Also Lights Out is officially been added to my list 😋
Thanks for the honest review. I was thinking of buying the Scribe but now I will stick with paper white. Its better to wait for a perfect Kindle in a reasonable size for reading, writing and annotations.
Glad I could help!
I want to like it, i DO like it buttttttt it still feels like compromise device. The same reason I like it is also the reason that I don’t. I love the idea of a convergence device for kindle/eInk, BUT the combination is not the best of either. AND I DO NOT WANT to see Amazon Store content plastered all over anytime I turn it on. The updates over the last year have been great, but the lack of functionality and cloud storage still feels like lagging tech. I keep looking fondly at a Boox 10.3 or Supernote 7.8 and wondering….’what if…..’
Your hair is EVERYTHING 😍
Ah Thank you!!!! When are we hanging out? =)
@@Bookish_melissa in working 6 days a week until the end of October 😭 Cozy November cafe date?
@@ExpatNattsounds perfect!!!
You have me curious about Lights Out. And your bangs are amazing!!
It’s really good! If you read it let me know what you think!
Thank you so much for reading and reviewing! I’m so happy you liked it. Also, I LOVE your bangs.
Oh my gosh! Thank you Navessa for taking the time to watch my video and commenting! It means SO much to me. I really loved the book and I can’t wait for book two! ❤️
Honestly, I like it. The larger screen is great. The build quality feels good in the hand. And oddly... even after years of having a samsung tablet with a pen I never use, I am writing notes with the active att the time.
It really is great quality. I do love it and I'm glad I have it, just not sure it's for everyone ya know?
I don’t hardly use mine much anymore. I miss my old Paperwhite. I may buy another one. I’m thinking of maybe buying a kobo.
The paperwhite looks like a great option too. I have a very old kindle for travel but the new one looks so nice.
Great review. I decided to go with the supernote nomad.
Glad I could help!
Great review. ;) I have considered the Scribe, but it's a little too rich for my blood, so I settled for a Rocketbook instead. TBH, the size was also a concern for me. I'd like something more the size of the Paperwhite. Being able to write directly on Kindle books would be great. Unfortunately, i think that's something out of Amazon's control. As I understand it, that's not a technology problem but a rights problem. If I understand correctly (but maybe I don't) there's something about copyright, or the rights Amazon actually has, that prevents them from letting you write on e-books directly unless the author gives permission. That's why you have some e-books you can write on (like the word games) and some you can't.
Yeah, it's a bit big, but I think they are trying to compete with the other paperlike products on the market. I hope my review helped!
$600? Hell no!
Yeah it’s not for everyone
@@Bookish_melissa I'll just use a simple actual notebook with real paper.
Stylist?
The pen? I call it a stylist.
@@Bookish_melissa it’s stylus, but a stylist sounds pretty good too 😊
Stylus.
I've had the Scribe since launch day. I was excited in the beginning to use it and read on it. But quickly found kindle's note taking abmismal and totally nice the point. As months passes on, I used it less and less. I actually pulled my old oasis back out and used that more and more. I don't find the Scribe any better than my oasis for reading, and worse than my Onyx e-ink pad for note taking.
Thanks for sharing! Yeah I feel the same way. I use it for school but I grab my old smaller kindle more lately.
Had no idea about the puzzle book.
Glad I could help!!
Great review and you hit the nail on the head. It needs to annotate anything. Also, not fully working with Microsoft one drive, word, or one note, really limits the Scribe. Shame, because I love my Paperwhite.
Yeah I agree. Thanks for the kind comment. 💕
Good review, well done 😊 (no comment on hair)
Thank you 😊
Love your hair!
Thank you so much Kristy!!
This is my FAVORITE Alice Hoffman book ❤️
It’s actually the only one if ever read. I listened to the audio and it was soooo good.
I don't own a scribe, but I do think your hair is lovely 💜
Aw thank you so much!!
beautiful melissa
Thank you!
So many of you have watched my first video and I couldn't believe that has been one year ago already! Now that I've used the Scribe for a full school year I am able to give insight into what I like and dislike. Do you own the Scribe?
Embers in the Snow by Anna Carven is my most recent vampire read and it was alot of fun!
Aaaand adding to my TBR. Thank you! I got so spoiled with the Stay a Spell series by Juliette Cross. She did vampires and witches soooo good. Not too dark but just enough. Love it.
@@Bookish_melissa I really need to prioritize the Stay a Spell series. I've heard so many good things!
