My honest advice to anyone unemployed right now
If you're unemployed right now, then this video is for you. I understand that being unemployed is filled with mental struggles and challenges, even financially, which is why it can feel demotivating. However, unemployment can lead to a lot of self improvement opportunities as well if willing to make a few mindset shits - I have learnt some valuable lessons during my time being jobless, and that's what I want to discuss with you.
In this video, I will be going over my story to explain some of the stuggles I have gone through, but I will say that they are unique to me, and others going through unemployment will have their own struggles, but what we can at least try and do is look for ways to make our time worthwhile.

If You're A Student, Avoid These MISTAKES At School
Hi , i’m a 21 yrs girl that just moved from my home country to USA . Haven’t enter university or college before( my family situation and the pandemic ) . I have my first part-time job as a boba barista only for 1 month before i relocated to another state . Right now i’m still in training as a housekeeper. I’m doing a part-time job just to save up some money while leveling up my skill and trying things that help me reach my desired job ( even though my dream jobs kinda saturated and competitive at,) . But i know that failing is not an option and so is trying , i will try to keep consistent with my routine and focus on what’s in the present ( family , friends ,..) . At the end , the money that we have is not only for ourselves but for everyone else , so i won’t neglect my surroundings just because of the JOBS . Wish you and everyone else the best ❤
Man even I've been unemployed since may this year 😢😢..this is really unbearable but parents just don't understand how hard it is 💔
It is definitely a tough position to be in, but don't worry, you got this 💪
Did you get a job in your field?
No, I didn't. Unfortunately, I am currently unemployed :(
I got rejected from McDonald's in 2012. LOL'd and closed my laptop bwhahaha
I guess that's a great way to deal with a rejection :)
Spending time with your family and parents now is very important. I am most happy when I'm spending time with my family.
That's very nice to hear! I wish you and your family the best of health 🙌
Interesting story, and i thought i was the only person that had a struggling go get a job just keep moving forward, focus, and discipline!!
Don't worry, you're not alone Mauricio - we just have to keep our head up and try our best 💪
@@AbdulQMirza God bless you brother

Sooo i graduate this past November and currently tutoring for chemistry and english (its not much but i can still buy Food with this), im waiting for a user interview rn, but ngl my motivation always feel like a roller coaster sometimes i can apply for like 15+ jobs and do something positive like relearning chemistry or try e-course but i can go 3+ days without applying for anything let alone Checking my email/linkedin, 2025 is gonna be hard but oh well we need to persevere right🥹🤲🏻

Talking about how much you want a new phone shows your mindset. You will never get ahead in life with or without a job. Cut the junk, who cares about a phone. Find out what really matters in life
Great one 🔥
I appreciate it, thanks a lot for watching!
I feel that one day you will be a very successful UA-camr. Just don't stop, and keep growing.@@AbdulQMirza
Thanks so much for your kind words - that's what I intend to keep on doing. You support means a lot to me 🙌
Unemployment is kind of scary but its really stressfree. You have a lot of time to think and figure out things to make some money on your own and yes having and open mind and changing the mindset is key. Thoughts lead to action. The more skills you learn the valuable you become and you can earn some money without needing a boss.
I agree with you, if you can take advantage of being unemployed, you can achieve a lot. You can totally redefine yourself - thanks so much for watching!
TBH honest your video editing good and im shook when u saw ur subscibers and likes buddy u deserve more ,
I appreciate your compliment - thanks for watching :)
Dear Abdul, I have experienced being jobless and unmotivated at work. It was an engineering consultancy job which i hate. But, i took the guts to leave and entered a tech company ,mainly we use arduino uno, arduino mega and esp32 which i love the job. I think you hve to focus on your strength and your passion. I believebI share the exact similar passion with you. I was in your shoes before😮
I am glad to hear that things worked out for you in the end. Exactly, you have to work with whatever your strengths are and capitalise on them
What subject are you pursuing?!
I graduated in 2022, I studied Biomedical Engineering :)
@AbdulQMirza Can you please guide anything about LL.M there?!
I don't know much about the Law school there, but there may be some useful information online if you search
have you considered selling your skills on fiverr? Start slow. Otherwise, try applying for a remote job in Europe. Most teams I know work internationally.
Yeah, this is a good consideration, and I am open to looking for jobs outside of the UK, thanks for your insights 👍
Sad 😔 same for me 🤦🏾♂️
I hope your situation gets much better in the new year :)
hey mate, i understand it must be hard for you. one of the thing that actually works for me to defend myself from my own thoughts is actually exercising. exercising clears my mind, therefore i have the fuel to learn things that is related to my work even tho still being jobless. keep grinding and enjoy the process, ik you heard this before but dont stress is out.
You're absolutely right, exercising is amazing for your mental health, often overlooked. I am trying to keep myself in a good mental space - thanks for your advice 👍
I feel you and wish you all the best. I have also been on a difficult job hunt, but i'm trying to be more hopeful for 2025. <3 Subscribed!
Thank you so much for you support Monique! I hope your situation gets much better in the new year 🙌
Bro I am from Uzbekistan, came here in London 2022 to study My master's degree at 27 years. Completed in 2023 looking for a job as devops or cloud. And left only 1 year visa. Even if you don't have a job you're in such a prevented position not worrying about your visas. I ve seen your portfolios bro to be honest they are so basic. Just use chatgpt or other tools and make better design and something working useful. Good luck.
Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts. ChatGPT is great to learn stuff from, I appreciate you
Thanks man
You're welcome :)
So, did you manage to get a job so far?
Unfortunately, I haven't got one yet
@AbdulQMirza I can relate to what you’re going through. I was in a similar situation for many years, but after countless rejections and dozens of failed interviews, I recently managed to get a really great job in the industry I wanted. My advice is to just keep going. Best of luck!
Thnk you so much , it really helped relativizing. My first semester was not the best , I often tended to compare myself to other people. However, I know I am capable of doing much better. This video trully gave me even more courage to continue and try to do my excellent as always, witht the help of others as well( as I tend I an only child) to often do things on my own. I am not incapable, I am not stupid, I simply need to understand the core difference between my past good grades and the ones I have currently. Have a delightful day, thank you again ;)
Awesome to hear Anna, I am glad you found this video helpful! If you just keep focusing on yourself and try not to compare yourself to others, you'll get to where you want to eventually. Have a great day :)
This is a lovely video. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am going through what you described. I just completed my masters and I am jobless. I undergo depression that lasts for several days and leaves me feeling demotivated. But you’re right, it’s so important to focus on building new skills and to keep pushing forward. Wishing you all the best in finding the perfect job. More power to you! 💪
Thanks a lot for watching Anum. Yeah, it's important to use this time wisely and build other skills that will help later on. I hope your situation gets much better, and wish you the best too 🙌
Hi hope you are doing better, just wanted to comment to let you know the linkedin open to work thing you are meant to type in the title of jobs you are looking for instead of your current title. Anyway hope you can find the job you are interested in soon!
Hey, thanks a lot for letting me know this - I appreciate you watching
I'm 24, had to drop out of grad school due to mental health issues. I was an international grad student in the states. Right now I'm a 24 year old unemployed guy. I'm trying to make websites in exchange of some income. I'm about to get me first contract completed in about 2-3 weeks. If someone from the software industry is reading this please let me know whether I shall hustle in the design + front end market or not given the AI effect. Anyways, I just wanna say that it's really hard. My family is allowing me to stay with them but the stuff they say breaks me. Everyday, I just wanna do something so that I don't listen to what they say. Right not I'm completely out of money or else I swear I would have never stepped in this house.
It's crazy how many of us are in this position. We aren't alone in our situation. Just gotta persevere
Unfortunately many of us are, but you're right, we need to keep going. Thanks for watching!
Abdul personally i struggled with many of the negative thoughts you are going through and the mental health stuff. Honestly it really sounds like you are having signs of depression, go speak to your GP. I'm taking antidepressants and its not something to be ashamed off, it will help you get out of these spirals. From my experience right now applying to jobs in the UK. 1) Get as much work experience as you can during uni i.e summer internships, year out placements 2) You need to be flexible on both location and employer i.e apply to those golden big companies in the perfect city but know you are unlikely to get it as thousands are applying, take a look at other cities/ smaller companies 3) Dont just use linkedIn, Indeed, go to company websites directly 4) Go to careers fairs and NETWORK get their linkedIn this is the number one way to get a interview quicker 5) Look at Grad schemes not in your field lots are super interesting and as an engineer you are very employable. 6) Go to your unis old careers department and get them to check out your CV, cover letters and ask them for help on how to interview. 7) Software jobs are really dire at the moment especially for someone with no CS degree and no working experience, deffo do projects (not just basic tutorial stuff) and post on github. There are some companies that take on software roles without experience like dorset software, TPP (be seriously cautious this company has awful reviews, very degrading) , NHS grad scheme. 8) Right now you are actually in a perfect time to apply, all of the grad schemes are being advertised now (grad cracker). Rolling hires for entry level jobs are few and far to come by in the UK, grad schemes released between september and December are the way to go
Hey Sebastian, thanks so much for sharing your concern. I do believe that getting to know people in real life and connecting on LinkedIn is much better since you have already made an impression, so I should look for more opportunity to do that. I have some projects but do need to include more complex ones to show my capabilities. Right now, I am enrolled in a training which I hope will lead to a job. I appreciate you watching and providing me with your valuable insights 🙌
Hey Abdul, I hope you have found your desired job; if not, then just a piece of advice; one of the mistakes I made was waiting for the perfect opportunity and job, and to be honest, it never came. So I would say, jump on to anything, forget what you studied for 4 years, and get whatever job you get. It might not build your professional career but it will certainly give you confidence in life and believe me, it will turn your life around
Thanks for your advice Muhammad. I may have to consider getting a job if my efforts don't pay off soon, situation is looking slightly dire
bro wtf this deserves soo Meany more views😭😭
Thanks for your support!

Man this job market is brutal😢..have you been able to get any job so far?
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to yet... still trying though
Im about to be in your situation Abdul we in this together
Thanks for showing your support Nikhil 🙌 I hope your situation ends up much better than mine
I looked at your CV on your website - I feel that it is inhibiting your chances. Look at Jake's resume template and update your CV to match that. There's no need to make it three pages long, make it concise to one page. You might think that your biomedical engineering degree is not relevant, but I think you should put that higher up to show that you've actually graduated from university (coding bootcamps help, but immediately demonstrating you're a university graduate would be good). Don't restrict yourself to web developer jobs, apply for all entry-level software engineering jobs. Have you reached out to the CareersHub at City University and asked them for help with job finding (they maybe able to help you even though you're an alumni)? I know it maybe a stretch but try reach out for unpaid internships with companies. Apply to software engineering consultancy firms. Even apply for civil service jobs and then try pivot your career from there. You have focused a lot on web development, but software engineering also includes a lot of focus on data structures and algorithms (try practicing leetcode and improving your knowledge). It is a competitive field but you have to remain steadfast and keep persisting. Once you land your first job, things will become a lot easier after that.
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide an insightful view of how I should spend my time and make changes - you are right that tech is a competitive field, meaning that it should require a bit of a different approach if the one I have been doing till now has not worked. I appreciate you watching and providing great feedback 🙌
I know this is an old video but I was just in these exact shoes a few months ago(degree, no experience, can’t get a job). I was able to find a job at a job fair. Do whatever u can to get in front of recruiters in person is my best advice. If you are determined someone will give you a shot.
Yeah, that is a good idea. I reckon if you get in front of enough recruiters, there's a good chance that they may consider for a position
I also felt like losing momentum during covid. I think, as introverts, we actually rely heavily on getting forced to uni to interact and build connections
Yeah, university is a good place to start learning to speak with people - COVID did mess up a lot :(
I am 26 too similar mistakes. Keep going we've got this. I have subscribed too
That's the spirit, we got this 👍 Thanks for joining the community!
1998 HERE TO LIKE FELLOWS.
Transition into tech. The tech market is also tough but there are plenty of avenues - web3, web dev, devops. Look for apprenticeships too
Yeah you are right, I am involved in something tech related so hopefully this can lead to a role soon! 🙌
Hey Abdul thanks for sharing your experiences, it’s nice hearing from real, relatable people. Not to say other UA-camrs aren’t genuine, but sometimes it feels like pandering with all the buzz words and clickbait. Also recently unemployed at 26 because I just quit my last job. I also did BME in college, worked in the field for a bit before switching to web development. Did it for the last 2 years, even working remotely, but finally left because I simply wasn’t happy with that job. You are not your career, and getting a job should not be the ultimate goal, I hate late stage capitalism. Saying this partly also for myself, as you said being jobless is not easy and it’s been taxing on my mental health too. But there are things to be grateful for every day, I appreciate your humble and positive outlook. Keep at it man!
Hey Ethan, thanks for sharing your thoughts, looks like we have something in common haha! I agree, while a career is important, it shouldn't drain you of your life, which happens to be the case for a lot of people. Well, I am curious as to how you landed a web development role - feel free to message me on my Instagram. I appreciate your kind words and thanks for watching 🙌
I'm on the same boat: 26, looking for a job, used to work temporary as a nurse during the pandemic, and then from 2022 I've become jobless for over 2 years deciding where to go, now I decided to be a Frontend Developer, but marketing is harder these days to get hired even without a Degree. As my mom thinks I don't do enough (in which I do every single day), I feel pressured over her anxiety because I also had episodes of sadness, worry, crying due to the unemployment and I hate to see my mom comparing to me and my brother or someone else because I don't want any extra pressure. I know it hurts when unemployed so long, but it does matter that there's time left to recover from that. I don't even own a work book. Life's tough sometimes.
I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing that lately :( I do think that you can make the most of your situation while being unemployed, and that's totally the best you can do - unfortunately you can't control how others think, but you can control how you deal with the situation. I wish you the best of luck! Thanks for watching
Hi Abdul, i'm in almost the same situation as you, the only difference is that i got a job early, but i've been laid off in September and since then, i couldn't get another job. Hope the best to us.
Hey Daniel, I am sorry to hear that :( But the good thing is that you have some experience to take away from it 👍 Thanks for watching, I wish you the best!
Hey dont give up. I stayed in schooling until I was 30. Got my first (crappy) job in the field as a 30 y.o. I didnt get a good full time job until I was like 33. When you are 25-6, you feel behind but you dont see how young you trully are and how much time you still have :)
Thanks for sharing your story, I hope you are doing much better now. You are right, I just need to use this time as best as I can and make the most of it
Brother at least you live in London with opportunities there , I am finishing my degree at 25 after 8 years (A lot of things happend in these 8 Years ) of going to University ( Informatics Engineering Specialization of Software Engineering ) and now I am going through the market and it's disaster ... also sometimes I am thinking to do a Car mechanic school or something else I don't know ... I live in Greece and also the economic situation it's not the best ...
You got a great degree! Hopefully there will be opportunities for you in Greece, if not, maybe you could relocate or do some online work for companies around the world? I wish you the best 👍
To sleep early. Just wake up 15 minutes earlier every day. It will be gradual and painless. Low light in the evening and much light in the morning etc.
The only safe jobs are in government and healthcare.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, these are quite secure if you could get into them, but they are difficult
I had no career until 38. It sucks knowing I would have been financially independent by now.
Maybe you can start giving tuitions for highschool students or early university students from the subjects you were good at. It could bring you quick cash.
I was thinking of making videos on topics that could relate to high school students, at the very least mistakes to not repeat. Thanks for sharing 🙌
Hey Abdul, I'm 27 and just got into Universtiy of London BScCS. I'm unemployed as well and I was very fortunate to experience a full-time job at 24 years old before I got laid off in August. Don't give up Abdul, I emphasize with you because I am in the same position but without a degree from a university yet. I admire your courage to talk in front of the camera too. I have been thinking of doing the same, but I sometimes fear criticism too much from people I am close with.
Hey Erick, congratulations on getting into University! 🙌 I appreciate you sharing your journey of being unemployed, and sorry to hear that you got laid off :( With regards to filming, as long as you don't tell them, it should give you a chance to get more confidence and exposure to it. However, the fear of criticism is a normal thing, and something that you'll have to overcome at some point - I hope this helps
