Thanks for the feedback 🙏
Very impressive build mate! That thing looks heavy!. Have you thought about putting caster wheels on it?
Thank you for the feedback. It’s funny you mention that because today I installed caster wheels as it was too hard to slide around haha. 👍🇦🇺
Cool stuff!!!
Thanks 🙏 I appreciate the feedback 👍🇦🇺
Another awesome project! Well done. Your videos are great and your channel deserves to blow up 🇦🇺👍
Thanks for the feedback! I feel like it’s only a matter of time. 🙏
Great video! ❤
Thank you for the comment. I definitely put some hours in with this build haha
Bro get you a real broom 😂
Haha what’s a real broom?. You want me to be sweeping my small garage with something that’s 2m wide? I have a bigger broom but this one is light, easy to manoeuvre and stores away easy. 😂😂
Good video ,and good test of the mag drill been looking at getting this one too 👍🏼
Thanks for the feedback. I highly rate it!. Definitely worth the money. 🙏
I use Fusion 360 also and have been waiting to find a video like this. Thank you for taking the time to make the video. You have a new subscriber.
Thank you so much for the feedback. Honestly, I made this video because I needed this video myself when I got the arcdroid. I can’t tell you how long I spent with getting it wrong!… I absolutely love it now and it’s a pleasure to create things with
Arcdroid that is… I still get very frustrated with fusion 360 hahaha
Perfect!
You definitely should make yourself a set! 🙏😎
I came to your channel after buying a Vevor Magnetic Drill Press tonight and then watching you make this table with it. Great work! And also what a great stool! As it is, I use an upside down plastic bucket as a seat in my workshop. Yep! And now, I'm lusting over the plasma cutter. Whoa!
Thanks for the comment 🙏. Yeah definitely the plasma cutter and arcdroid combo is an amazing thing to use. Endless things to make!. Have you used the drill yet?. I’ve used it with the standard drill chuck. There’s side screws you loosen to slide the drill head up higher to create more clearance from the workpiece. Some people don’t realise this and put bad reviews about it hahaha
@@Fab-Life444The drill should be here in a few days, and thanks for the advice about clearance! I need to drill underneath the base of a 100+ KG "head" of a sculpture, and the bench drill press and engine crane ain't gonna be ANYWHERE near as easy to use as the Vevor! And watching your vid here, I'm not sure whether to just get a plasma cutter WITHOUT the arcdroid robot ... this is a retirement hobby. Anyway, now I gotta watch your vid on making welding table fixture clamps! (Fortunately, I made a very hefty metal workbench, weighing over 300 kg with 8 mm top and removable panels, so your clamps would be perfect for the thicker panels!)
Awesome! Feel free to watch all my videos if you like haha
@@Fab-Life444 I'll check them out! Only bit of advice from me is to do something about the welding fumes. I use giant fans for arc welding and for MIG welding, I use a helmet with PAPR (forced air purifying respirators). That's a very important investment in your health! My wife insisted on this when I told her. Now ... I just gotta do a great sales pitch to her on plasma cutting robotics! ;)
@ I use a welding mask with a gp2 filter when I weld… I also have a forced air mig welding 3m helmet and filter as well. Trust me, I can’t stand breathing the fumes in. 🙏😎
Great job mate well done. Looking forward to your next projects 👍👍🇦🇺
Thanks!🙏
could you share your settings and thickness of the steel, just picked up my arc here in perth and getting a feel for it. so far not holding tolerances so trying to iron out what im doing wrong
Thanks for the comment man. Haha you’re testing my memory. On the machine… 75psi… 1mm tip at 45amps. I always use full amps. The metal was 2mm steel. Arcdroid settings were 3mm pierce height, 3mm cutting height, 1200mm/min speed. Kerf was close to zero. Kerf you will have to play with. Accuracy didn’t matter on the fire pit. What issues are you having man? I’d be happy to try and help you out 🙏
Did you have issues with calibrations? I can’t seem to get mine within the .5mm on the 313mm
To be honest, I’ve only ever calibrated once… which was in this video haha. I believe it’s a set and forget thing unless you’re having issues. Have you just purchased it?
Yeah just purchased mate. I can’t seem to get the intitall calibration to within the spec suggested in the manual. I have a level bench and level unit and it still won’t calibrate to within .05mm of 313mm I spent 4 hours today trying to just calibrate it. Doing my head in 🙄
I feel for you brother! I’d love to help you out. DM on instagram. That way you can send me pictures etc. 👍
Dude thank you. Followed your instructions to a tee! Please don't delete this video, I'll need to use it again
Thanks man for the feedback. I made this video because when I first started with the arcdroid… I literally wanted to give up. I have no confidence in the cut files I was creating…. But then when I learnt these couple key precesses… it’s now awesome to use and I can create a cut file in minutes with confidence!
That’s bad ass! Keep it up
Thanks brother!
Hey man cool to see more Aussie UA-camrs doing videos of stuff like this! I've subscribed/notifications etc. Also your editing, video and sound quality are really good. Will be cool to see your channel get huge mate! Gonna have a crack at making videos myself once I get the new shed done... What camera and mic do you use?
Awesome feedback bro!. One of the best comments in a while for me. You’re going to be surprised…. I use an iPhone 15 pro… DJI mic 2 and a crappy tripod from Kmart hahaha. I also use a subscription to UppBeat premium for music… and Final Cut Pro. Honestly man, that’s truly all you need. Once you get started, I’d be happy to help you with any info you need!. I’ve learnt so much along the way. Thanks again for watching and subscribing! Spread the word and help blow my channel up 🙏😎
Wicked mate👍👌🇦🇺
Thanks man!🙏
Fantastic helpful video! So good to see a young Aussie! Have you done anything on scale? Great instructions. Thank you.
Thanks for the amazing feedback!. I’ve got quite a few videos out now since that one. What do you mean by scale?.. as in scaling something into a larger size or…. Just a larger project in general? 🙏
@@Fab-Life444 I am trying to make a design larger. When I finally get it the right size in fusion and when I put it on the USB to the plasma it's massive. I am a rookie here ! Then I have to scale it down by 0.035. When I measure on fusion it is the size I want. Not sure if that make sense.
@ that makes total sense. I’m confused as to why it’s doing this. Have you had This issue with anything else being incorrect with its size?. It’s either going to be something happening in the post process part or with the arcdroid and loading the dxf file. I’d be totally happy to help you figure this out for sure 👍
@@Fab-Life444 sorry it has taken so long to get back to you but life has been hectic!Any design I create on Fusion, I have to scale down on my plasma by 0.035! My son does designs using Fastcam 9 and no problems. All setting are in mm. It has got me baffled.
@@idratherbesewing917 inbox me on instagram bud. Maybe you could share the file and I could check on my machine
Awesome mate.... How well does the arcdroid cut aluminium? Was interested in buying an arcdroid if it cuts aluminium well
I haven’t cut alloy yet but I’d only assume that it’s all to do with your plasma cutter. The arcdroid really is only a robotic arm that moves your plasma torch head at a speed and height that you set with the arcdroid. Hope that makes sense 🙏
Had one. Cool if you are doing brackets and stuff without a lot of lines. If you plan on doing anything with a bunch of lines of gcode be prepared to make multiple files for that project. Ram in the control unit is one weak spot.
Yeah I’ve found that I’ve I do multiple cuts of the same part… it always does weird things after the 2nd or so part.. so I just do one part… move the metal and so on… annoying but the amount of times I’ve had it fail and then have wasted metal
@Fab-Life444 Yeah, I moved on to a full table now.sit was a good starter machine, but not for what I'm trying to do.
@@frankconsidine5989 I 100% agree. I’ve learnt so much and now I’m finding I’d prefer a 1200x 1200 or so… Langmuir crossfire pro. The boys at boosted bois on UA-cam have one. Looks sick
@@Fab-Life444 I went with stv cnc. Customer service is really.
@@frankconsidine5989 I’ll have to look into them 😎
Are you sharing the .dxf files? I want a decent shop stool but don't feel like spending the money on the Vyper
I don’t mind sharing but… I did have a few issues with this build…. I wouldn’t feel confident in giving you the files but I can’t guarantee you wouldn’t have the same issues lol. The legs cut fine but the connecting circle sections came up a tad short… not sure why… I had to adapt them a little.
What you need next is to draw you up some pointy slats to reduce dross buildup.
Hell yeah! I’ve seen all the proper tables with those. I’m guessing it lets the molten steel blow off into the water?. Thanks heaps for the suggestion
It would be awesome if you could share the dxf file for us arcdroid owners
Yeah I could definitely do that for you man.
How good is it it that you can easily transform a somewhat boring product into something of beauty! On a side note, I got an arcdroid for myself a few days ago! On sale at hare and Forbes. Along with a 80a plasma cutter from Sydney tools. Got a monitor swivel mount from office works, now need to set it all up. Can’t wait to make some cuts!! On a side note, do you pay the ~$400/yr for the fusion subscription? I noticed students can get it for free..are you a student?
I’m not a student but I do use the free edition. I read the terms and conditions and as long as it’s basically for hobby use and not commercial, it’s fine. Yeah it’s sick how easily you can draw things up, cut them out and then you have a cool, unique thing to use in your shed.
Great job. Good to see the shot of the water bath being filled. Interested to know what settings you used on the arcdroid for 6mm mild steel. Amps, speed, height and cutting tip size. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the feedback! So the settings I found that worked best for me were.. 3mm torch height ( I always use this)… 75 psi as always… 1000mm/min travel speed. 45amps. 1.5 sec delay. 3mm Pierce height. 1mm tip. Hope this helps
Looks amazing! I love the colour 😊
Thanks for the feedback!. I thought id go a more fancy metallic paint this time from Supercheap auto. The white undercoat made it a little more pink haha
Get a diamond hone on a stick…you can touch up your cutters by hand…do this before they get too dull…i drill structural steel, and hit hard spots from time to time….which will dull a cutter fast….you can also clamp a part on table and bring mag drill into position and drill with annular cutter without a hole in table for cutter to go through as the slug will stay in hole and protect table as long as you stop pushing when cutter breaks thru, you may get a slight scoring, so you can place a sacrificial piece on table where cutter will be, it can be very thin…2mm or so..hope this gives you some ideas…i do not know how I lived without a mag drill for so many years…Paul ….i have some videos on my channel of mag drill use…check them out…
Thanks for the feedback!. I’ll definitely go check your videos out. Yeah I absolutely love the drill. The pressing power of this thing is awesome.
@@Fab-Life444 fantastic…Paul
You thought you drilled a lot of holes….i drilled and tapped 178 holes…in my aluminum table…first with a 7/16” annular cutter ,then proper size twist drill for a 1/2” 13 tpi thread, then chamfer, then tap thread into 1” plate (25.4 mm )
Hahaha bloody hell that’s a lot! I don’t know how l lived without a fixture table. The ability to slap a clamp in wherever you want is so amazing. Making the stool was the first project I properly got to use it.
@@Fab-Life444 I will have to view your stool build…cheers, are you in Queensland area. I am in the other Sunshine State, Cape Canaveral, Florida…Paul
Nah I’m in NSW. Not quite as hot or humid as QLD.
@@Fab-Life444 I spent a month in Queensland out in Alpha on a 100,000 acre cattle station herding cattle for the spring muster…it was hot, dry and dusty…..that was 1994
Wow!. That’d be a cool experience. I love coastal and I haven’t adventured much inland.
Glad to see you using the proper coolant, makes the slugs fall easier and they are cool….one thing about annular cutter use, once you start, you should not peck drill due to the possibility of getting chips stuck under the cutter…just feed continuous….cheers, pb
Yeah I started off with spray but it was so Smokey! Then I remembered I had coolant from my band saw. I definitely noticed the drill cut faster with the white coolant … and almost no smoke
@@Fab-Life444 yes., only time coolant does not work well, is when you are drilling upside down…then wax cutting lube is good…less mess than oils…Paul
Yeah that makes sense. The white coolant is basically like water viscosity. It’d go everywhere when upside down haha
@@Fab-Life444 I used a sports drink the first time I used mine, I was on a roof drilling into steel beams…I drilled a pilot hole, not realizing the pilot pin was for centering and pushing out the slug….i have a Jancy Slugger…now made by Fein,,,it will drill a 25mm hole in 25 mm steel plate in less than 60 seconds…400 rpm…the cheapest they make…trying to figure out what to do with the 178 26 mm aluminum slugs I have…
Cool center punching music
After re watching the video and reading other comments, I thought I made the wrong music choice in this video… some parts of the songs went a little weird hahah…
@@Fab-Life444 nah…looks and sounds great to this old guy…Paul
Awesome feedback. I guess you can’t please everyone when it comes to the music. Some people weren’t happy with the music in this video
Thanks. Yeah some people weren’t happy with the music choice. You can’t please everyone I guess 😂
Making a fixture table looks much easier with steel…I made my 1,000x1,000 table from 6061 aluminium, 25.4 mm…getting the mag drill to stick was a bit harder to do,,,,haha
Oh that would have been annoying for sure! What was the reason for aluminium? Lighter?
You can also use a TIG tungsten as a scribe….sharpen both ends of a short tungsten and put in a Pin Vice….i use an old tig torch handle sometimes….cheers, Paulie Brown
That’s a cool idea!. I’ll try that for sure 👍
Outstanding……❤
Thanks I appreciate the feedback 🙏
@@Fab-Life444 well done video…Paul
Outstanding, cheers from Florida…Paul ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks man! Thank you for all the comments as well!. The algorithm will be frothing over it haha
@@Fab-Life444 that is why I liketo comment
Great project. On that first cut, been there, done that. Nice to see I'm not alone.
I think anyone who owns a plasma cutter has experienced some headaches along the way. Haha.
Thats tidy👍
Thanks buddy!. Crazy how much work went into it.
Cheers mate that's awesome and easy to understand thanks heaps
Not a problem!. Glad I could help
Irritating music.
Thanks for the feedback.
Cool clamp idea and glad the hole got fixed
Haha yeah I knew you’d be glad 😉. I felt like I had unfinished business with the table knowing that I hadn’t fixed my error. 😄
Clever project, the clamps turned out great. I have to admit I would have left the mismeasured hole. Good on you for not being as lazy as I am. 🙂
Haha yeah the hole was bugging me!. Now it’s time to actually make something 😄.
New sub here❤❤❤
Great choice of gloves…I wear the same here in USA
Hokey Smokes…lots of drilling…Bravo
Yeah, I might have considered leaving it too, but the thing is, you'd already drilled 187 holes and NOT fixing it would've just been a permanent pain in the arse, psychologically speaking. Nothing like pandering to our inner OCD. Or ... CDO for those who like to have those letters in alphabetic order. ;)
Good on Vevor for that thick packaging, rather than shoving it in the usual thin-walled cardboard box that never survives...
Yeah it was wild. So thick!. Such a cool tool 😎
Liked the way you drew the circle to the correct size then dragged it into place.
Thanks man. Yeah I used to click over and over trying to get the centre… then it occurred to me that if you know the size… just draw it wherever and drag it over haha
I cant seem to find the FREE version of the fusion 360
Oh its only a 1 year free trial.
I’ll research the link for you
www.autodesk.com/au/products/fusion-360/overview?term=1-YEAR&tab=subscription#personal This is the version I use and have been for years. It’s limited in some ways but does everything I need. Click on “get auto desk fusion for person use”
Such a good idea dude! Haven't seen anyone do this but i would be thinking the same thing, not with having water in it all the time of it's not used very often. Really interested to know your in depth thoughts on the arcdroid CNC. I have very small hobby shop at home so it's the only thing i can think that would fit to do cnc metal cutting
Thanks for the comment buddy!. Glad you liked it. Since making the video, it’s worked amazing. Very little rust…. which is only the metal dust that dries in the pan.. It can be vacuumed out easily. In depth thoughts… well straight off the bat.. I love the arcdroid!…. But man you have to spend allot of time learning your way through it. I’ve put out a few videos on things I’ve learnt. It’s such a great tool for accuracy with shapes etc. I draw everything up on fusion 360… export as a gcode file.. then take the usb to the arcdroid. Only downside to it I’ve found so far is the limitations with cut area. You can get the x2 slide for it but still… that only allows wider cuts. I’ve only ever needed a bigger cutting area once… so it’s not a deal breaker for me. I find myself so keen to use it but need to think of things to make haha. Next project will be a cool shop seat with caster wheels. Everyone out there that has cnc experience will always have run into dramas… plasma consumables failing… wrong cut paths… with time, you’ll have it dialed in and it will be very enjoyable to use man. Remember, if you’re purchasing one, use my link to help out my channel if you like. No pressure of coarse. Thanks again for the comment and keep an eye out for future videos! 🙏😎
One of the main reasons I liked the idea is my shop is so small it is the only CNC option really however once the cart and everything is made it takes up heaps of room again. I thought maybe storing it under the bench then bringing it out when needed but that seems impossible given you need the water table and cart etc etc. I also don't have 15A in my shop and most TIG and plasma cutters need that (currently have a small 10A MIG). I would love to see your setup if you live near Brisbane by any chance. Definitely use your code if I decide to buy one. I have tinkering skills (3D printing and gadgets) so that's not too erroneous for me.
@@alcoxy to be honest, you really don’t need a dedicated table. Just clamp it to your work piece and then let the sparks go everywhere…. Then sweep up. It’s more mess but if you’re strapped for room… that’s the beauty of the arcdroid. Checkout my other videos… you’ll be able to see my entire setup. Arcdroid is meant to be portable. As long as it’s level with the piece of metal your cutting, you won’t have an issue.
I would recommend using "Lens" or similar tools to ensure your picture is square before bringing it in as it can be distorted
What is lens?. Is that a separate program?. Thanks for the feedback 🙏
Add ruler to photo so you can calibrate it
Thanks for the feedback. Do you measure the part and then place the ruler next to the part for the picture?.
Calibrating from a larger known dimension is much more accurate, I would have left the ruler in the pic and used that.
Cool thanks for the feedback. I’ll take that into consideration next time. So you’re saying I should have measured the outer edge as it was a larger dimension?. 👍
@@Fab-Life444 yeah, or just leave the ruler in the pic and calibrate from that, that's what I do.
@@Chimp_Assassin awesome thank you for that. I’ll definitely do that next time. ☺️🙏
when taking a picture, its important to take it from as far away as possible. this reduces the lens distortion
Thanks for the feedback.
cheers mate, great example on using Fusion 360 (reverse engineering) and the Arcdroid
Thanks mate!. I thought it’d definitely help someone out there who needs to fill in a section of a part that’s missing. 🙏
Nice walk through. Well done!
Thanks buddy.
