    For the mortar bed for the tile you use two to one ratio of sand mixed with grey portland cement mixed with Type S. Am I correct? I had trouble hearing what you said.

    Hi there, I just now saw your post. What can I say, really sad to see how much unprofessional work/product you get for such a big investment that should last 10s of years. No one wants to start from day 1 with factory rust that is unstoppable from spreading, will simply not be possible to maintain the product in a so-called new condition for yourself and your customers. In 3 years, the customers will look at you as not caring about taking care of important / valuable things and thus judge you and associate that you do the same regarding the execution of your work - the customer feels that they will get an inferior product, if not at least subconsciously. Have to ask the question of how everything ended after you returned to the dealer and pointed out all the 100% flaws? The coin has two sides, as does a newly purchased product | brand / brand. One side a first class new purchase, other side premium brand and its warranties/goodwill and its service, support regardless of time and cost efforts. Really sad to see that a product with such a final finish made it through the production line's final inspection - a large premium company removes a final product in such a condition. Since the product is both a traffic/safety hazard, the manufacturer cannot even sell the product at a "give away price" but must be kept away from use. Must mean that the person who welds so badly still works and still manufactures equivalent products since the painting is also a question mark but the most important thing is that the frame does not carry the load weight but the beam that now takes the weight must break (some) before the beam takes the weight. I have already decided to buy an exactly the same wagon (possibly a 16LP) but now I am forced to rethink and consider, at least do a really thorough on-site inspection but know with me that you do not see everything with the eye especially not if the load-bearing requirements are met. Will load the mini excavator on plus with tools (16LP) Will load the mini-excavator 11000 lbs on plus with tools (16LP) so then you do not want to have to worry about factory welds (to be x-rayed) and its quality. Thanks for sharing the experience, know that you are not doing it to speak negatively about the manufacturer but because everyday life is both rice and praise! Best regards! // Tony

    You have no business doing this. ALL sealant has to be installed over backer rod. This will last about 5-7 years. Properly installed polysulfide sealant installed over proper backer rod will last 20.Adding sand on top shortens the life of ANY sealant significantly. Clean the joint well ,use the proper sized backer rod and nothing else install the sealant. I have installed sealants professionally for over 45 years.

  • @genecarden780
    @genecarden780 Рік тому

    You have no damn business doing this. You did not do one thing right. You should be sued. And you posted the evidence of your negligence on UA-cam. I have never seen anything so stupid. Especially when the consequences of you ignorance can be catastrophic. Get into a different business. Maybe flipping burgers.Deco seal is polysulfide sealant and all sealants absolutely have to be installed over the proper backer rod in joints like this.

  • @genecarden780
    @genecarden780 Рік тому

    This is why you never let a pool company do your sealant. Sealant has to be installed over backer rod. NO OTHER FILLER IS ACCEPTABLE. The backer provides the correct profile for the sealant to perform properly. And adding sand to the top like that restricts the sealant’s movements. Every thing about this is wrong and it WILL fail prematurely. When done correctly it should last close to 20 years. This is the exact reason homeowners have so many issues with sealant at pools. I have been a professional caulker for ver 45 years. Using sand voids the manufacturers warranty.

    • @jaked1375
      @jaked1375 Рік тому

      False. The reason it fails more than other joints is because it’s a pool & pools settle at different levels than the decks will.

    • @genecarden780
      @genecarden780 Рік тому

      @@jaked1375 sometimes the pool does settle at a different rate and those failures are very obvious by the drastic differences in the levels of the2 sides of the joint,causing more shear than the sealant can withstand. But the vast majority of the time,failure is due to improper sealant installation. And most sealant failures at residential pools are adhesion failures not cohesion failures. When properly installed, if the sealant fails due to too much movement ( such as settling) there will be a combination of adhesive and cohesive failure, this is a fact. A tell tale sign of improper installation is failure at the bond line, usually, but not always alternating from side to side.( the way the vast majority of sealant failure at residential pools happen) I have installed, repaired and diagnosed sealant failure for over 45 years. I have seen many failures due to the use of sand both at pools( very common) and at concrete slabs on grade. The fact is, good pool companies are very good at minimizing settling. That’s what they do. If they weren’t there would be all kinds of problems.They typically are not so good at sealants. It is only ancillary to their trade.Typical commercial pool sealant last 20 years + Residential typically (not always) 7. The reason is, on large commercial pools,the sealant is typically installed by professional caulking companies( using backer rod) Not the pool builder.

      Hi Gene, what is the best sealant to use for this?

    • @genecarden780
      @genecarden780 Рік тому

      @@flyboy712 Polysulfide is commonly used due to its high resistance to pool chemicals Deck-o-Seal by W.R.Meadows is one manufacturer. But with self leveling sealants it is critical that the backer rod fits very tightly to keep the sealant from leaking through causing “ sink holes” We use polyurethane sometimes too ( Masterseal Semi self leveling,it doesn’t leak through small gaps as easily) and it holds up pretty well. Silicone is even more chemical resistant but is too soft for pedestrian decks. Quality polysulfide or quality polyurethane will both work.More important is correct installation.

I’m planning on retiling my pool myself but I don’t know what kind of cement to use. Is it regular thinset used on Bathroom & kitchen tile or is it a special type of thinset (waterproof)?
